Viacom is content with the two million units sold of Rock Band 2 since launch, but expected more from the series. PaidContent reports that the media conglomerate sees the Rock Band franchise as a bright spot in what it otherwise expects to be a very difficult year, particularly with ad revenues getting "worse before it gets better."
Harmonix may not have a new Rock Band this year, but it's certainly continuing its streak of DLC content for the platform and will release the The Beatles game (for the benefit of Mr. Kite) later this year.

it's sold 2.6 mil units and the Wii is just getting started. The wii will likely have the same legswith rb2 that the original had on the 360 and ps3. I wouldn't be surprised to see it top out around 4mil across all platforms. Having 4mil potential DLC buyers (not counting ones still on rb1) can't be considered anything but a success.

I hope this doesn't lead them to put a ridiculously mainstream setlist in the next one. RB2's was made of win, I'd love to see another of the same quality.

As long as they continue the DLC, I'll be content with my little plastic instruments for at least one more year between games.

Maybe because they invested 0 advertisement in it, meanwhile GH was being shilled on every other commercial during Christmas.

I saw Rock Band 2 advertisements all of the time. Let There Be Rock, anyone?

Let's just say that RB2 was a tad disappointing. I like the new features they added, but the majority of the songs they picked were atrocious.
Less shitty pop rock, more good rock, Harmonix.

Not to worry all! I'm sure spending the money on adding Snoop Dogg tracks will pay off big time!

It'd be more if they could handle a worldwide release schedule that wasn't handled by inbreds.

We were supposed to have it Feb 2nd, i even got a confirmation that it was about to ship, then they yanked it, and the release date is jumping about between whenever, god knows.
So Harmonix can piss off.

It's b/c GH:WT had an assload of deals and exposure during christmas. GH went all out and had deals on WT and older titles while RB2 was barely advertising in comparison. I bet GH titles outsold 2:1 or even better during the holidays.
Makes me sad, RB is so much better.

Does anybody have an idea of how much profit is made per DLC song?
