Hopefully you can finish the game this time. Couldn't do that with the first game.

Ugggg, Im so sick of people whining about ruining some crappy thrown together cartoon from their youth. I liked GI joe growing up, but in no way are they exploiting my childhood. Get over it.

Some people actually had good memories with the Joes, unlike you who probably just used them to dry hump barbies.

Shock of the day: G.I. Joe the movie is a relatively harmless experience geared towards kids. The game will be the same.

I know, I know, I'm as surprised as anyone that this will not be the best film since Ben Hur.

I'm enjoying the latest round of Joystiq previews...brutally honest...just the way a preview should be. I hope they treat every game the same way. Recognize their merits but also call out their flaws.

i wasn't expecting a masterpiece and have no plans to pay the full launch price, but if it's anywhere near as entertaining as the arcade shooter i played as a kid i'll pick it up on the cheap

WTF?! Are they making this game for kids or for the kids that are in their 30s/40s? I hope the 30/40 kind since they grew up with this ish. This game is going to suck. It baffles me to see the quality of games released that should NEVER leave the warehouse. If your game is going to suck, and you know it's going to suck then write it for the Gameboy Advance!

Sounds like a shit version of "Dogs of War".

Why can't EA remake that instead? It was ace. I can appreciate that probably anyone under the age of 25 won't remember it but well, it was good.

Boooooo EA

Wait, you can SHOOT people in this game? This is completely out of line with the GI Joe fiction. In GI Joe, people shoot in the general direction of other people, never hit them, frequently hit exploding barrels or gas tanks, and enemies go flying all over the place, but no one ever actually dies.

Seriously, if the developer can't even get a simple aspect of the world correct, why bother?

They already made this game. Well EA didn't but Konami did. It was an arcade game back in maybe the 80s or 90s. It was almost exactly like what is described above. A 2 player co-op game with both characters running straight ahead passed/through Cobra forces. Then at the end of the stage your stage Boss would come out and you'd have to take them down. You could chose between 4 characters, Duke, Snake-eyes, Scarlette and ... im not sure, maybe Gung Ho or Road Block (basically most of the same characters from the movie).

Ive got a version of it on something someone downloaded on my computer here at work. MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator). Tons of old Arcade games on there. I had forgotten completely about the game until reading this article today. Booted it up and its exactly like in the article.. just slightly worse graphics.

Hmm... I don't remember making my name Sephiroth... I didn't even think he was all that badass and generally don't like people who use the name Sephiroth. I call shenanigans.

Does this mean they're going to relase the old GI Joe arcade game from Konami for XBLA and PSN?

please say yes. That game was awesome.

I will say this much: When I see the first fiery explosive scene in the movie, I'll be yelling out "PORKCHOP SANDWICHES"! And watch half the audience get it and laugh

I doubt I'd even rent this one.

Do any of you actually remember Gi Joe? I keep hearing people talk about it in a nostalgic greatness, I mean don't get me wrong I loved the cartoon, but if the cartoon had been directly brought to screen you would have some explaining to do to your girl friends.

Ship wreck, Spirit, Mutt, Wild Bill, and I forget the last one; looked as if they were almost exactly lifted from the village people, and on the show way to much. Now if we are talking the comic book Things get awesome. Only people I wish that was in the Film is Flint and Lady J. Other than that the film looks to be a great action movie.

Well, it might be better than Transformers, but, then again, getting kicked in the nuts, repeatedly, for half an hour, would be better than that piece of horse shit. And, um, G.I. Joe wasn't secret... Some of their bases were (i.e. The Pitt), but their existence was high profile.
