Sony released this new God of War III trailer today, to go alongside our brand new preview. It's an extended version of the one shown during the VGAs in December and features some of Kratos' new abilities and the game's god-sized scale -- the ending camera shot turns Kratos into a flea! The video was rendered in-game, so cross your blades that it keeps on looking this good -- and angry -- as development continues. Okay, we'll stop writing now, so you can get to watching the darned thing already!

Looks great, but how many of these set-pieces are QTE?
Cylopse? It's so Dragon's Lair (1983) I wish developers would think of something more original.

dude it's the same Cyclops from the last game (don't remember if they were in the first one or not honestly). but either way, anyone who has played God of War recognizes like all of those enemies. plus it's mythology. it's based on something, it's not just random.

Shenmue made the QTE famous, get off it.

Sorry, wasn't moaning about cyclops (bad CRLF there).
Just not a fan of QTE in any game -- even though they are as old as the hills.

Well Wikipedia says first QTE game was Dragon's Lair, as I said above, so it must be true.
(albeit with bad CRLF confusing sentence about it with cyclops).

I think the word "EPIC" would be synonymous with Gears of War by default, no?

If you only played the GC last gen, you missed a ton of great games on the PS2. I'm not gonna bother to list them off but you have to play GoW 1 and 2, and Shadow of the Colossus.

As soon as I saw this trailer, my initial thought was that this game is officially my most anticipated game of the year. Then I read that it doesn't look like it will make it in 2009. Seriously Sony, get your act together. Regardless, it looks amazing and worth the wait to get it right.

They did explain why and the reasons make sense, there was a reason for loosing all your powers in GOW2 from GOW1, but that reason is missing from II to III, in order to bring you a game that makes sense, they need to think things through carefully, it also means that it will take time as everything needs to be changed if a single small thought is made, its not as easy as just releasing it, bam.
Personally I think they should release the game with all powers, but the power of weapons and gifts bestowed upon him quenched, so they are weaker due to the force of Mount Olympus, but they gradually gain godly like strength as he progresses.

Not to mention the fact that we live in a new era of gaming with Co-op and multiplayer etc, they are trying to figure out how to implement all of this to add extra playtime to the game without making it seem half arsed, and more part of the plot, sorta like Halo simply added 2 Masterchiefs while Gears added a new character for example.

GOW always comes out in March. GOW 3 will come out March 2010. There are PLENTY of games that we know of coming out in 2009 and some that we don't. Keep your shirt on cowboy...there will be plenty to play on the PS3 in 2009.

The Titan at the end well that was cool but I was disapointed because the final scene is just Kratos jumping after killing some sort of bird.

Ok we have our first obligatory "now I have a reason to buy a PS3" comment that we get everytime a new PS3 game is announced or shown. I'm not doubting that you (reebo) are sincere but there are so many good exclusives on the PS3 & PSN it's kind of absurd to say now you have a reason.
I'll bet that around the time the game releases you will say "I was going to get a PS3 but can't justify the purchase for one game".

Yeah, but for some people (like me) the PS3 exclusives don't interest us. Little Big Planet, Resistance and Killzone 2 may have gotten good reviews but they don't interest me at all enough to warrant picking up a system that is still way too expensive at just under $400. Most games that come out on both systems seem to run better on the 360 and don't require interminable installation times (cough, Devil May Cry, cough).
God of War III, however, looks mighty fine. The first two God of War games were what inspired me to pick up the PS2 and if Heavy Rain is anywhere near as good as the previews make it appear to be then I will be laying down my hard earned monies on Sony's monolith. Maybe then I'll get to play through MGS4. *sigh*

Hey! God of War was also what made me get a PS2! So yeah, it's very possible this game could make me get a PS3. It's happened before.

And so it has begun. The PS3, as did the PS2 and PS1 before her....is starting to show what she can really do. It always takes about 2 years for Playstations to take off their training bras. Now boys and girls you will see the true might and power that is the Playstation 3. Killzone 2 is just the beginning as you can see with this awesome trailer of in-game footage that is from an EARLY build. The finished GOW 3 will no doubt look a step above this since it is more than likely at least a year from release.
Look at the improvement of Killzone 2 from May 2007 till now, and think of at least the same level of improvement on a game that already in some ways looks BETTER than Killzone 2.
I told you this day would come, that the PS3 is in a class of her own, that the 360 cannot TOUCH her capabilities. This is what Ken Kutaragi knew years ago.
Why the press and many other people "forget" that with Playstations...it takes time for developers to get the prom dress off, but once they do...the results speak for themselves.
The 360 has put out some amazing games on an easy to develop for platform and in has pushed the PS3 to grow up perhaps alittle faster than she would have if the 360 did not give such an amazing line-up of games. Just like the Dreamcast...the best the 360 can do was seen early on and now the 360 is at her peak in terms of power and popularity.
The sleeping beauty that is the PS3 is now awake...and no doubt we have not seen what she is capable of yet. We still have Team ICO, FF vs. 13, Twisted Metal and at least FIVE other Sony 1st party studios that we have heard NOTHING from.
Now, please sprinkles and pals and Fernandos and pals and anyone else who loved and still loves to flame the PS3....please continue to spout your NONsense...it makes me laugh.
