An anonymous source apparently tipped off Dutch gaming site Segaonline.nl to some top secret images of Sega Vintage Collection, a series of retro titles making their way to Xbox Live. The games are what you'd expect; it's classic Sega fare with Gunstar Heroes, Comix Zone, Altered Beast, Shinobi III, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
The images and information seem sound enough to us, but you know how it is with these things. "My uncle totally works at Nintendo," and "My mom is in Bill Gates' book club" are just a few of the lies we've heard when dealing with these types of rumors in the past. So keep that tucked under your cap when you head over to check out the pictures.

I came up with Trophievements when I was making a Joystiq themed indie game that never made it past the title screen/menu system. I was going to have unlockables, but didn't want to tie it to a platform, so I combined the names into one word that worked out rather well!

Aren't they just some of the games coming to Europe on one glorious disc next week? Can't wait either way. More bang for your buck on the disc as opposed to individual games for 400 ms points

Really, this kind of releases make me really happy. Call it "old meuk" but I think this kind of 16-bit games quite wonderful. 1) because of the nostalgia 2) achievements 3) online scoreboard.
Just again so enjoy!

Sonic 3 needs to have Sonic & Knuckles virtually attached to it.

I'd be interested if they were only $3 or so, but if they're charging 5 for each game, forget it, i'll wait until the genesis collection drop in price (I'd bet it'll happen soon).

Awesome list, though I would add Mutant League hockey/football. And they really need a Sega CD collection.

Sonic CD FTW I already have the titles I wanted from Sonic's Ultimate in Genesis Collection for the PSP and I still have Sonic 3 & Knuckles here somewhere for the PC.
The one that should totally be in there is Moonwalker and the Arcade Version as an Unlockable plus Sonic Triple trouble.
There should be a Dreamcast or Saturn collection,so many awesome fighting games for the Saturn.

That is a great list, though I think some of them aren't owned by Sega. That's the problem with the naming of the Ultimate Genesis Collection. It makes people think of all the great games they played on the Genesis, but it's made up of only titles Sega has the rights to, or at least I'm pretty sure that's the case.

Yeah Courtney that's true, like I wanted to add the Desert Strike series as well, but that's EA.

yeah I understand theres people out there that like these retro games, but it does not force them to put out orginal games . Just keep reselling you the same old thing every year. Plus I bought my xbox to play next gen games not something from the nineties.

In the PSP collection you can't see sh*t in Vectorman.I agree with Shinobi kicks ass and I actually liked Gaining ground.
Outside Sonic Phantasy star IV is the best title. Is that on the Ultimate collection?

I was excited to try out the old Phantasy Stars. Fired up II, fired it right back down in 5 or so minutes. Way too dated. Hopefully III and IV are a bit better.
I half agree with the Vectorman thing. It's not as good as I remember, but it reminds me a bit of the old DOS action games that were awesome. Maybe even a hint of Commander Keen.

You see, I can still enjoy Commander Keen despite it being more dated than Vectorman, but then, I played Commander Keen when I was young where as I didn't with Vectorman. Maybe some rose-tinted glasses at work I think? I mean, I actually LIKE Bonanzo Bros. of all things :P

NOOB?!?! I have had my 360 since apr 06. I remeber that XBLA games started out at 400 pts for "retro" games cause thats all there was on XBLA. Now the "normal" price is 800 pts while thats starting to go away and 1200 points becoming the norm because you idiots keep buying this crap. They have figured out the can reselling you guys the same crap over and over and no matter how much the price is you keep paying.

KingTorres Wins.
Also I don't remember any Sega game being on 800p they are on 400p or at least the ones I bought.800p for all the games would be sweet but again Sonic's Ultimate collection was already released so kind of pointless.
Not to mention that so far none of them are crap and you would know that if it wasn't because you are N00b and one with a crappy attitude.
(My first game was D&D advanced for the Intellivision)

My first videogame...in all seroiusness....was Ms. Pac-Man way back on the Atari 2600.
Look JC, stop it now because you just embaressed yourself. Better yet, just drop the X360 controller and get back to us after you've played games on the NES, SNES, Genesis, and Atari 2600. Then we'll take you more seroiusly as a real videogamer.

I started gaming on the NES as early as I remember life... I was born in 85... And sometimes I feel like a noob for not growing up on Atari or Colecovision!
Yeah I'm calling you a noob, because there is plenty of great new stuff coming out of this generation, and there's no reason to put down rereleases of old classics. There's plenty of people like me who eat this stuff up. So back off dude!!!
Halo's still gonna be there!!

They didnt leave out Sonic and Knuckles, they left out Sonic 3 and Knuckles. The two separate games are in, but you cant combine them for the bonuses.

Dude. I just added up the games that I got on the genesis collection for $30. If i were to buy them as marketplace games or worse virtual console,, they would have set me back 320 dollars. Yikes. I love disc based collections. It's pretty much all I own for the psp.

What will it take for us to get Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time. If they gave that some HD graphics I would buy that in a heartbeat.

Well, if you look at the current retro Sega games on XBLA, all of them have that blue screen with the "Vintage Collection" logo. Golden Axe, Sonic 1 & 2, and Streets of Rage 2 all have it. I'd pick up Gunstar Heroes for $5 if it included online multiplayer. "Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection" is a better deal for the rest of these games, except none of the games on that compilation have an online component, which sucks.
