Ok.... If you want a challenge, don't play on easy. Got it.

"In fact, you could probably do this without even being in the room."

Seeing as all the systems have wireless controllers now, it's pretty easy to control games from other rooms, isn't it? :P

It looked like they had every character unlocked on the select screen. But I didn't get a close enough look.

Probably. Entirely trash. I would never do that. I cosign that 'practice mode' statement, though. It's good to have an AI to spar with.

That is pretty shitty of them to make Easy mode that easy. I prefer the way they handled it in the other recent Street Fighter, HD Remix, where Easy mode was still pretty fucking hard for a newcomer.

YEAH! Let's coddle everyone! No hard games are permitted, EVER! We should bottle-feed every consumer out there! If a game is hard, it SUCKS!

Dumbass.

I agree, but can't there be a happy medium?

I'm a Street Fighter noob, and I downloaded SSF2THDR.....and while I can beat it on Easy, I can only do it with about half the characters, and it's pretty difficult.

But yeah, this looks to be waaaaaaaaaaaayyyy too easy.

Well to be honest with all of you, I was a noob when I got SSF2THDR too but I think it's better to learn on the mean streets like it did with its easy mode than an easy mode that makes you think the game is so shallow you might not even want to play anymore. There is a practice mode, so that's where you can go up against easy or nonexistent AI, but I figure that easy mode in SFIV should be something that inspires a little bit of awe so that you know you should be "at least this good to play". Imagine how many noobs will be online when they hear that THAT is the bare minimum of skill required to play the game. I think the game should project something different onto its users and show a little more class.

I for one am glad for this cheat. I like a challenge, but the AI on Medium is incredibly cheap and Seth in particular makes unlocking characters VERY unpleasant. At least now I can get all the unlocking out of the way and focus on mastering characters. Until now I was spending nearly 2 hours per unlock, a good 40 minutes of that time at Seth.

Unlocking things like characters in a game geared almost entirely to be played multiplayer is a terrible system, and even mashing one button is too much work to gain access to the actual game you bought. If someone comes over and wants to play as Cammy, I don't want to button mash for a half hour to make that happen.

Even Wii Fit has mostly unlockable features, and that should be a pretty clear sign that unlockables need to be evaluated more closely.

There's 6 difficulty settings, this is the lowest one.

So, on the lowest possible setting, the game is easy ?

My thoughts exactly.
Some people just like to kick the shit out of people!
Its the same as putting Guitar Hero on easy to unlock all the songs.

Not everyone is the best at something, if they still have just as much fun on it as you do on Expert, whats the problem? =]

This is my opinion.

Heck, what if you wanted to have a tournament at a friend's house, but he didn't have everything unlocked? This is a quick easy way to unlock everything so everyone can have fun.

If you're the type of person who doesn't want to be cheap, then you're not the type of person that would EVER be playing on the easiest mode anyway.

By the way, it's easy to beat the game on the easiest setting by doing almost any move in repetition.

I could make a video of me beating the game with ryu/gouken/akuma just spamming fireballs.

It does take awhile to get Seth unlocked though, as you have to finish the game 15 times or more if you screw up on the unlock conditions for Akuma/Gouken.

This will only work for Dan, Cammy, Sakura, Fei long, Rose, and Gen. A bit more is required to unlock Akuma and Gouken.

Eyo homeboy, welcome to Joystiq...

David Hinkle just covered the news, he did not come up with the "easy" strategy. Oh, and its not that serious, almost every game has some type of bug/glitch that cheapen the game or lessen difficulty. I guess you rip the code & cheat sections out of all your gaming magazines in disgust eh?

I know David didn't come up with this video...my opinionated statement was due to the surprise that this was good enough for him to post. Sorry David and to all that find this video helpful. I wasn't trying to force my views when it comes to playing games on anyone...just stating an opinion (in my eyes). Once again sorry to the lot I may have offended.

Absolutely! Everywhere I go, there are people whining about games being too easy, too dumbed down, yada yada yada, waaaahhh. SHUT UP!!

It is one thing if the game overall is too easy and there are no difficulty options, but when games give you a variety of difficulty options there is certainly no need to whine about the easiest ones. And if the hardest difficulty setting is too easy for you, then why aren't you going "pro" or something.

So you have to beat The Game without losing a single round in order to unlock the characters or just you can unlock them using continues etc in other difficulties?

That's like on the old-school games how you could use a 2P controller to interrupt your arcade mode, and then you simply beat the non-active character to a pulp.

I'll admit, I used that a few times if I was playing on the harder difficulties, in the cases where a particular CPU opponent just wouldn't die. I shouldn't have had to fight T-Hawk 12 times in a row because, well, he's T-Hawk, and T-Hawk sucks. The game would just get stuck in this loop of cheapness from time to time, as many a game does...

Anyway, I wouldn't bother with that now. I would only do this "cheat" on the new game if a certain character turned out to be absolutely zero fun to play with (I'm looking at Rufus) and I just really wanted to get another character. Now if Rufus unlocks Dan, I just might not even bother at all... haha

for akuma you gotta get 1 perfect and 1 ultra in arcade mode and no continues along the way, and for gouken you need 1 perfect and 3-4 ultra finishes and no continues. im working on getting gouken, got to him once , but he caught me with an ultra while i was getting ready to raging demon him w akuma ;P

The easiest way to do it what they did, 1 round, set difficutly on easiest, and just go to town, even seth is a punching bad at the end, but i believe u gotta have it set to easy to unlock gouken, i tried on easiest and didnt get him after i beat seth, but u can unlock akuma and everyone else on easiest

come on, look at how many characters are blacked out on that screen! if you had to unlock Gouken or Akuma or Seth, then i could understand that because they're 'boss' characters and we're used to having to unlock them. but i'm actually a little disappointed that it looks like i won't have access to 1/2 the roster the first time i boot the game up. you have to unlock Cammy!? call me cheap or a noob all you want (and i've been playing SF since II hit arcades) but i want those characters from the onset and if i have to spend an hour or so with a book on the RH button to do it, then dammit that's what i'm going to do.

i disagree that unlocking characters is part of the fun. to me, learning how to use the characters is where the fun is. to each their own, and if you want to so it the hard way more power to you. i just want to try everyone out and pick a few to learn.
