Wow sony really is doomed....

And according to ps3fanboy (if that even exists anymore) their January sales were DOWN from January sales of 2008 as opposed to the Wii and 360 which INCREASED.

The ps3 is doing horrible and it's impacting sony big time. You can't deny those facts.

God of War III needs to come out asap if sony wants to survive.

This isn't just the PS3's fault.

Overall Sony Corp. saw huge FY losses for the first time in five years, which is partially to be blamed on the games division as well as their TVs which had a huge sales drop compared to FY07.

So they decide to close a store because their lease is up and don't want to renew and because of that Sony is doomed?

Could always do launch events in Playstation Home O.o

Well, just because they aren't doing well now (and yes, it is partially their fault - they thought they would make more money with a higher priced console, which was foolish) doesn't mean they should close this down. All I can say is *tear* :.(

Not sure this is a great sign, but I'm also not sold on store closing = Sony being "doomed". In point of fact, doomed companies (see Sega, Atari et al) often have a way of (sometimes repeatedly) rising from the ashes like electronic Phoenixes, but Sony with its billions of dollars in assets and and 50 plus year established brand recognition certainly isn't done and isn't even *close* to being in the position that the once great companies of our beloved pastime were. I'm just chalking this up to an unfortunate sign of the times in a down economy, nothing more.

If Sony is to leave the market, I jusy hope that someone else will step in and take their place. I don't want it to just be Microsoft and Nintendo, competition is good. Microsoft has dropped the price on their 360 because of the PS3 and Wii. Sony has done the same though at the cost of features present in the first models but they also run cooler and more efficient at least. Sony keeps improving their online service because of Xbox Live. Sony and MS have kept each other on their toes. If it was only Sony or Microsoft, I wouldn't be happy. There needs to be a balance, though things were fine before with just Sony and Nintendo with Sega sadly temporarily in the game with the Dreamcast and Saturn.

Now if Sega could come back....

I find it hilarious that Vesper/Gundam/BigO/who's-keeping-track-anymore keeps coming back.

What's even funnier is that he never backs up his shit with anything intellegent, or anything that makes sense for that matter. He just calls everyone who disagrees with him (which is EVERYONE, all the time) 'sony fanboys' because he thinks that holds weight when it just fails as an argument.

tl;dr - pathetic guy is pathetic

Oh, and one more thing, JediKnight, because you NEVER research

This is a single one of Sony's stores.

They have dozens, maybe hundreds, more around the world.

Microsoft is now opening their first M branded store.

Think about what you're saying before you say it - Sony is hardly 'doomed'. Maybe if you'd do a little research before hand you'd stick your foot in your mouth before claiming your idiotic fanboy drivel as 'fact'.

This makes me very sad for Sony, as I really love my PS2 and 360. To see a once mighty giant fall so far is disappointing to say the least, they really should have foresaw trying to sell a console that is so expensive and how it would effect the company if it didn't.

The store is crappy. Just like the Sony Style store next door, everything is retail price. There are far better places to go in the city where sales exist. There are quite a few demo kiosks, but the latest and greatest games are usually roped off and I've only been there a couple of times when people were allowed to play them. If it weren't for killing time before movies (there's a multiplex with IMAX in the building), there wouldn't be a reason to go there outside of launch events.

I don't get any special feeling when I go there. There are usually way too many employees standing around bored, half the kiosks are year old family games and movie adaptations, and they aren't selling anything different. What nostalgia?

What Sony did is genius with the ps3. Sony went down a path that everyone will go eventually. The economy didnt help sony but they are actually doing a decent job. Microsoft need to make a product for the future like sony did with the ps3. Microsoft need to go away selling DVD roms. After the success of the 360 they need to come out with something brand new and be the future. Sony already did all of this and yes it is costing them now but their next system will be pretty much the same as ps3 so it wont cost as much at all.

I think what he is getting at is that The Cell & Blu-Ray architecture will be the staples of their next console and very little R&D will be needed. It's not that it's going to be the exact same as the PS3 but you will see a more advanced Cell and faster reading Blu-Ray disc. With keeping the same architecture backwards compatibility won't be an issue at all and they will be able to launch at a very competitive price.

Lmao, some Xbros commenting here again.

Don't you ever get tired of your constant "sony is doomed" crap? First you guys whined about games, then some of you noticed PS3 has actually more exclusives worth mentioning than your own Xbox360 and shutted up. Then you whined about the price and low sales, then some of you noticed that PS3 has sold over 21 million consoles and 160 million games and shutted up. Then when it came out that Sony didn't have a very good 2008 you're back with the "dying" talk .. it's obivious that most of the Xbro fanboys are just some fat teenagers from America who bow to Halo as their new god and know abosolutely nothing about PS3 except that it doesn't have neither Halos nor GearsOfWar so you bash .. bash .. bash and bash while your X360 dies third time.

Any way this really saddens me that Sony is having a lot of trouble and you need to realize there is a chance that Sony will fall. Does that mean we should be all pissy towards people? No, buy mother-****ing sony games and systems. I love my psp and loved my ps2 and ps1.

The only reason I haven't picked up a ps3 is that it doesn't have any games I want that aren't already on the 360. Also I hate Halo ,and Gears of War sucks but then again I hate shooters....

Well Sony did pay off the Film industry to get BR instated as the replacement to DVD, and sony did have to buy some games for limited exclusivity on the PS3.

Its funny tho......MS probably spent as much patching the leaks in the 360... heheheheheheeee

What games did Sony have to buy to gain limited exclusivity? It seems to be almost all of the PS3's exclusive titles are coming from its 1st and 2nd party game studios no? Microsoft is the one that's been tossing around money like crazy to gain exclusivity, I just want them to give more love to the Games for Windows platform.

Limited means it came out on the PS# first and then was ported to the 360, the 360 has such titles. I would not say all the games that came out on one first then the other months later were bought off by their respective console maker. But I like to think some are :P

I am sorry but both do it, the fact you've gone out of your way to defend sony and diss MS means my fanboy troll found me one. *lick*

Err, how did I diss Microsoft? Actually, my fanboyism for Sony has severely waned with the PS3 but I've been a happy owner of the PS1/PS2/PSP but I have only used Microsoft Windows my entire life. I've just build a PC two weeks ago and my 360 is collecting dust downstairs. I still can't find myself to ever buy an Apple product though, but the Ipod Touch looks damn tempting but my fanboyism is preventing me from buying that.

What would make me dust the 360 off again is if MGS4 came to it so I can finally play the last game in the series. I'll just rent it, beat it and move on.

If you're going to make a statement, back it up with some facts. As far as we know, Sony is not (anymore, at least) in the business for paying for any kind of exclusives, timed or not.

"Its funny tho......MS probably spent as much patching the leaks in the 360... heheheheheheeee"

Oh I am sure they have shelled out a ton of cash over RROD and you can bet almost just as much paying for exclusive content.

Looking at sales numbers the PS3 is desperate for titles to keep it relevant, the publishers can't afford not to release titles on multi platforms, there for it makes it very very pluaseable there are deals on games that are released on different platforms at different times, sure some could be coding issues but frankly in this business its just something that's normal since both do it.

Now Sony did buy off movie studios to win the format war this is fact, that's why they are having a ton of finical issues and can not afford everything they want to do...well that and releasing the PS3 as a costly super high end unit, high price=slow sales.

These are the facts as I see them from all teh crap I haz read.
Fan boys just want to argue over them because they are fanboys.
-----------
With that said the PS3 is doing good now though it could have more games(I can say the same about the WII too..the 360 haz games..just lacks variety...) but that will come in time as the PS3 will out sale the total 360 unit sales by the end of 09.

At which time I wonder if devs will focuses on the 360 as much IE you will see more games made for larger disc sizes and this will hurt the 360 as MP games can't be multi disc and their hard drive setup is a joke.

But this is just speculation from a smack talking tinfoil hat wear black sheeple. :P

I said it could use MORE games, I am still not happy with the selection being mostly shiny shallow modern crap like the 360, there are good games but frankly you need a grand to have them and all the systems making this one of the worst generations as far as price/cost V qaulity goes.

Now the WII has it worse with mostly shovleware I hoping as the fad ends the WII and its developers will gear more to normal gaming, with madworld,HOTD:overkill, ect and even the ported down dead rising they starting to get more real games on it maybe in 010 the WII will start to shine with real variety in its titles..

That'll happen in 09. The Wii, as well as the PS3, look like they're gonna have some great titles this year. The 360 doesn't have as many retail titles down the pipes but it makes up for it by having a shitload of DLC and downloadable titles coming.

I dunno the WII is suffers from being taged as a shovelware system, lets see EA fully support it like they say they will for a year and see if the industry takes note.

I want to see many more ports and games targeted at gamers on the WII before I will admit its become a real game system. I think they are making progress the fact they made/are making a more precise controllers. I really hope the WII will lead the industry out of its "shine" induced coma and stimulate real gameplay advancement.

The last FPS RPG that was turely innovative was Dark messiah...FO3 and Bioshock are just shooters in compassion, yes DM dialog and story is worse but it had real gameplay advancement not safe and bland sandy stylized stuff.

The PS3 is picking up and doing well enough it could be better IMO but looking at the industry I should be happy its improving. The 360 is getting Final fantasy that with its DLC and the other stuff it shares with the PS3 makes it a great system despite its higher than normal fail rate(10% from what I gather).

The industry is improving but it has not stopped kicking me in the balls qaulity/price wise and when it switches to "suck" it will be godly...

Wii's lineup this first quarter can hold its own against PS360's. Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5 will put PS360 over the top for most, but Wii has quite a bit, especially for March

And it only gets better as the year goes on. 360's lineup of exclusives (exclusives, so we're not looking at excellent fare like Re5 and SFIV, and other multiplat sequels) is actually the weakest right now, but that may change as the year goes on
