Burnout Paradise 'Legendary Cars' coming Feb. 19
How times have changed. Today's news that Burnout Paradise's upcoming Legendary Cars pack will be arriving on consoles this Thursday, February 19th, comes directly from Criterion games via Twitter. Not a press release or forum announcement in sight. Need more proof that we're living in the future? How about flying cars in Paradise City? That's just one of the new vehicles available in the Legendary Cars pack, all of which are based on famous fictional vehicles.
There's no word on pricing yet. Perhaps Criterion will be kind enough to tweet that info before the pack releases on Thursday. Check out the gallery below for more images of these Legendary Cars.
[Thanks, Rahul]

man criterion likes to support their products
Lennoko @ Feb 16th 2009 11:10AM
Instant buy. I want to crash that thing.
Orex @ Feb 16th 2009 11:40AM
Does anyone know if there will be a bundle of some sort? cause i wanna support Criterion i realy do but i cant buy 3 seperate packs like that, (Party, legendary & Toy cars] plus i want the trophievements for it, but i just cant buy 3 seperate packs.
I really want them too. :(
master811 @ Feb 16th 2009 12:11PM
I bet they'll rip the UK/EU off again though, I don't get how all the other US/EU prices generally match up (more or less), yet all the Burnout prices are far too high (compared to all the other US-UK/EU equivalent pricing).
McKeyDee @ Feb 16th 2009 2:38PM
There will be a bundle where you can buy all the Legendary cars together. I think it will also be cheaper than buying them separately.
Brucie_K @ Feb 16th 2009 11:13AM
Whoa, this is heavy.
MikeO. @ Feb 16th 2009 12:04PM
There's that word again, "heavy". Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the earth's gravitational pull?
On another note, I picked this game up on eBay for $17 and I can't wait to jump in. I can't believe how much DLC has been thrown at this game, free or paid. If more games did this (and soon after launches), I think we'd see a lot more support for big and small titles.
I'm very happy with this company.
C-Onor @ Feb 16th 2009 11:14AM
Awesome, can't wait to get the Jansen 88. ( that's the name of the flying one, isn't it? )
capt_carl @ Feb 16th 2009 11:53AM
Yep, the 88 Special.
Timerider @ Feb 17th 2009 11:11AM
I now want this game, just for the car.
Nytemare @ Feb 16th 2009 11:16AM
Still awesome. Will buy once I get a copy of Burnout Paradise.
Alex @ Feb 16th 2009 1:33PM
I can't believe there are STILL people who say: 'I'll get it when *...* is released...'
How can anyone live with themselves if they do NOT have this game?
Katmassive @ Feb 16th 2009 11:20AM
oh yea i can't wait to fly
Dan Rabot @ Feb 16th 2009 11:24AM
This is awesome, but I rarely load up Burnout anymore, so I doubt I'll get it.
Still an amazing game with brilliant support.
dylan @ Feb 16th 2009 11:25AM
excited for this, but Thursday is also Noby Noby Boy right? Think I'll get that one first.
Alex @ Feb 16th 2009 11:26AM
Will this be free for the PC version (Ultimate Box) or will they try and make us pay for it.
Magresda @ Feb 16th 2009 3:00PM
Why do PC gamers demand free DLC? Cause they spent so much money on a good rig they can't afford it? Tell me.
Nathan @ Feb 16th 2009 11:26AM
What I love is how many trophies are for this game as this pack adds an extra 9 trophies giving a total of 80 and this game rocks! especially online! Can't wait for the flying car
ScottG13 @ Feb 16th 2009 11:43AM
I'm so there. $1 or less per car, please.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Feb 16th 2009 11:52AM
Twitter is the future? Are there any alternate futures available?
DREntertainment @ Feb 16th 2009 11:58AM
I'm afraid not.
capt_carl @ Feb 16th 2009 11:54AM
Why oh WHY Criterion do you have to tease me the SAME WEEK Street Fighter comes out? I was hoping to put away Burnout for a while so I could gorge myself on Chun-Li goodness...
linebeginstoblur @ Feb 16th 2009 11:57AM
Criterion Games has a Twitter account? AND I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THIS SOONER?
My fault. To be honest, though I love Burnout Paradise more than I could love any racing game, I haven't even seen/listened to Crash FM/TV/whatever it's called. That's why I'm excited to find they have a Twitter account. It's the easiest, most harmless way to always stay up-to-date.
Tremada @ Feb 16th 2009 11:59AM
I heard this pack might cost around $10, and $2.99 per car. If that's the case only the 88 and the Manhattan Spirit fo me. It should be at most $5.99 for the whole set.
Jcarpio @ Feb 16th 2009 12:07PM
in all honest folks.. we got a lot of free content from criterion. if it's 10 bucks.. then i'm not going to quibble. especially if this could lead to packs that includes another area for racing.
Nomi @ Feb 16th 2009 12:16PM
It won't be 10...the party pack was 10 and it had a lot more content.
capt_carl @ Feb 16th 2009 12:25PM
I'm going to predict this will be between 400-500 MSP.
Tremada @ Feb 16th 2009 12:41PM
So they have a free pass to charge as much as they want bcause they didn't charge us for previous content? I would think that they would make reasonably priced content if they want to keep the good will. The free content is great, and I really love how they support an older (great) game, but I'm not going to shell over a ton of money afterwards beause they saved me some previously.
Not to mention that I am still kind of new to the series, and I'm not a big fan of racing games (but I LOVE this game for some reason). So I actually bought it quite a while after it was released ( A few months off the $20 pric tag :( ) I really can't explain wh I love this game so much... Ok, enough random thoughts. Make it $5.99 for the pack!!!!
Rando @ Feb 16th 2009 12:12PM
Anyone had any luck with the restart option? I have the latest update, but have not seen any option of restarting a race???
Nomi @ Feb 16th 2009 12:15PM
Its in the easy drive menu. Scroll a bit down and you will see it.
capt_carl @ Feb 16th 2009 12:25PM
Yea, hit the D-pad like you're going to go online, but scroll down and you should see an option that says "Restart Last Event"
Odog4ever @ Feb 16th 2009 12:44PM
Yeah, I just bought the game after the last update and couldn't find restart option for the life of me. They could have put it somewhere obvious like I don't know the freaking pause menu! The D-pad implementation is awkward but at least they listened to the community and put it in.
Nomi @ Feb 16th 2009 1:09PM
I really like the d-pad...you don't have to pause the game and you can do it in the middle of a race and it doesn't feel out of place.
Obie @ Feb 16th 2009 1:37PM
How much?
Deck @ Feb 16th 2009 2:27PM
Can't wait! Instant buy! These are going to be fun as hell!
Love you Criterion!
Livi70590 @ Feb 16th 2009 2:35PM
On Twitter: £6.29 for the 4 cars.
Churchy @ Feb 16th 2009 3:26PM
Man I really need to pick this game up some time. I'm amazed that EA is letting Criterion do all this.
jumpshot @ Feb 16th 2009 3:42PM
I have this game on both 360 and PS3 and I'm buying this pack for both. Well worth it!
Snappy @ Feb 18th 2009 1:05AM
Wow, this is unexpected. I thought it would be in march then sorry it's delayed. But they release in 3 days. Good job criterion
Joshua @ Feb 16th 2009 4:39PM
From the news section in the game:
88 Special
$3,99 / €3,99 / £3,19
Manhattan Spirit
$1,99 / €1,99 / £1,59
Cavalry Bootlegger
$1,99 / €1,99 / £1,59
GT Nighthawk
$1,99 / €1,99 / £1,59
All four cars pack for $7,99 / €7,99 / £6,29
Christ-ian @ Feb 16th 2009 9:45PM
yup, saw that myself today.
anyone know what type of car the 88 Special is? I'm hoping a stunt, but I get the feeling it's got to be speed.
Microshock @ Feb 17th 2009 12:49AM
No it's a stunt car which is why i'll enjoy that car so much. It seems that when you pop up the wheels , you'll basically have like soft landings doing stunts.
Funny the car is 2 dollars more than the rest though, i think they expected this to be the most popular though.
Townbizz90 @ Feb 16th 2009 5:26PM
Why does the bundle cost more than the game?
Marky264 @ Feb 16th 2009 8:18PM
It doesnt you can pick the game up from as little as $20 minus the new Ultimate Box Pack.
Everyone needs to watch this as the other Boost Special which is the New Hawker has some in game footage but it's blurry since it's on a 3D Screen the art work on the car is brilliant!

Criterion, you never cease to amaze me
Desi_D @ Feb 16th 2009 8:58PM
Criterion FTW!
R0N @ Feb 16th 2009 8:59PM
This game is so amazing...and this will make it all the sweeter!!!
Keep bringing on the advancements and upgrades because Criterion, you have made a phenomenal game; I haven't been so addicted to a racing game since NFS: Hot Pursuit 2.
Microshock @ Feb 17th 2009 12:51AM
This is great, wondering how much the big surf island will be though.
Deone @ Feb 17th 2009 3:26AM
Quit calling it a flying car. I'm not going to put EDIT at the beginning of the post, because its just a little verbiage discrepancy I have, and not nearly as bad as Game Informer saying there was airplanes (already) in the game in the most recent issue. (I know they were considering putting airplanes, but it seems I heard Criterion shelved it for now. Please take it off the shelf, put airplanes in, a dog fight mode, and cops and robbers, and why not the original Crash mode everyone is clamoring for, man that would piss off other game dev's).
Off my point though. The car is a hovering car isn't it? Not a flying car. There is a difference. And I'm only basing that on the video link that was posted. If it can fly, I'll happily chop off my tongue and run it over with a Delorean.
Not that that will do you guys any good. I'm keeping my fingers. Those are my money makers baby.
Deone @ Feb 17th 2009 3:34AM
And what happened to my avatar, or blogger pic, or Joystii or whatever the F*** you call those on here? Is this the same as replies mysteriously showing up as stand alone comments or taking five hours to show up on the board? Will it come back out of nowhere if I go to bed and chant joystiq in a bad South African accent as I drift into digitized nightmares?
While I'm on the bitch-o-tron, can we get an email when someone replies to a thread that we've replied to? Back me up here JS biomass. Even if this post doesn't make sense or you don't agree, because I'm tired and cranky. Goodnight.
