A listing for a red-colored Xbox 360 Elite has made itself known, thanks to a
Toys "R" Us employee who sent
Kotaku a snapshot of the SKU, which allegedly appears in the store's inventory database. The red Elite's "item inquiry detail" makes note of the console's $399 price tag (which is the current cost of a black Elite), but no other product details are mentioned. It's speculated that this red'licious console could be the mysterious
Resident Evil 5 bundle.

If it comes with Resident Evil 5 packaged in that 399 bundle, then it will be a great deal. And the red console will probably sell quite well. But if it doesn't, then I don't see why to make it really. As great as color choices are (and I wouldn't mind the red) there has got to be some incentive to buy it.

stupid color for a console, good for a controller, but a console? black and white are already good enough, why not a white elite for those of us who prefer our white consoles.

you know, i have a regular 360 (white 20GB with a 120GB hard drive) but i have never been a fan of the white matte finish it has. i wish it was more glossy like my Wii and PS3......and PSP and DS Lite. it's the only console this gen without that glossy finish (unless you count the DS Phat). i wouldn't mind a glossy black one but i guess it still plays games the same regardless of what color it is.

The picture was taken with an iPhone and the xbox was behind a plastic case, so it's not the best quality. I remember it being shiny red though.

I might be in the market to up my game and get an Elite (or at least a new 6OGB Pro), so the red console might be something I can look into soon. I'm rocking a 20GB Pro that's feeling more and more dated every day.
I second the thought that it'd be the same bright red as the controller that's on the market already. I own it; it's a really slick red and black combo.
It'd be really pretty awesome if the console's sides had the Umbrella Corp. logo on it. Maybe blood splatters? (I doubt it though, considering Toys R Us broke the news, after all.)

Don't know if it'll be any consolation or enough corroboration for you, but my MS Rep at best buy confirmed that it's the RE5 bundle for us the other day :)

If it's the bundle, then its a pretty good deal... same price as the other elite except w/ RE5 and a bunch of extras included? Heck... buy the red one... set it deep in your entertainment center and replace the faceplate with a black plate... voila. gaudy red unseen.
