yup, sony's big problem this generation:
horrible marketing and advertising depts.
seriously how have they not fired the whole dept? those early baby ads were so bad! seriously, i hated the PS3 just because of the ads.
sad indeed; however i'll still buy KZ2 on launch :P

He thinks that by giving your opinion that the 10 second commercial was "Not very exciting" you are doing Sony a disservice. Which is a load of crap since you don't work in Sony PR, get a paycheck from Sony. This is a blog, opinions are fair game.
Like my opinion that this 10 second ad doesn't do the game justice like the other operatic symphony ad. It's OK, but does nothing for me. A simple magazine ad in motion is what it is, something brief before they show the actual ad.

All seems fine to me. A 10sec teaser is all they need at the moment, they need to get people intrigued and interested, its the same thing with websites that have nothing more than a countdown... they tell you sod all, but leave an impression on the viewer that theres something to come of this.
Ideally this would have come 3wks before launch, with something more informative on the week leading upto it, or on/after the launch (Fri onwards), but if anything i think the 10sec teasers should be used more often for big titles like MGS, LBP, GT5 & KZ2... anything you can abreviate in 3 characters maybe? :D Get into the publics head beforehand without it being too costly, and then go full-on for the launch.
Yoon: I think he's refering to the misinformed content OTHERS spread through this site, rather than the headlines.

If it airs on television, it's a commercial. A short commercial may be a "teaser" but it's a commercial nonetheless.

Now your saying that it is an Ad.
Well.. I think it's a bad teaser anyways! A teaser should have a hook that make you want to see a full trailer of an upcoming title or something... even though I got this game pre-ordered for weeks... this 10 second teaser wont get any attention out of the ppl who has no interest in this game.

it's a little late for teasers the game comes out in just over 2 weeks. Now is the time for a full market push. At least they have ads in Europe I haven`t seen any here in the states....... killer game with no big hype come on Sony you need to sell it. You already got the attention of the hardcore time to show off the power of the ps3 to the masses.
Posted: Feb 17th 2009 12:39PM (Unverified) said
Everyone in Europe has already played the demo, This is just to say "Nearly there"
I think an awesome ad would be the video that plays at the end of the demo with the classical music and constant killing, Not sure what OFCOM would have to say about that though.

I don't think Sony would make a 10 second commercial, give them something, ya know?
I think everyone's right that this is a teaser and a pretty cool teaser at that.
It's NOT THAT HARD to get Killzone 2's commercials right, just get a bunch of helghan looking cool and some cool music and bam

More anti-Sony posts.

Dude, seriously Andrew is a good guy, I would genuinely say a playstation fan, not a fanboy but a definite fan. (Id rather read the critique of a fan than a fanboy anyway)
I agree with him, its not enough..
On the lead up to Christmas every multi-platform game had the game advertised then xbox360 flashed on the end, almost made me think Prince of Persia was only on xbox360, the games had no mention of ps3 availability. Microsoft must have spent a stupid amount of money on advertising, Sony ? some fartsy advert maybe seen once.. I saw like 3 Little Big Planet ads about a month ago, wow too little too late again..
The Playstation3 was hardly even advertised and this is all that they have released ?
They need to seriously rethink their marketing strategy, on release the advertising was seriously lacking and in fact it just sucked, none of their advertising campaigns have been good. The PS3 should have already taken over the xbox360 in terms of sales, but if people don't know the benefits and all they see is xbox360 adverts, it doesn't bode well for Sony does it ?
I haven't seen any of these teaser adverts here in the UK yet.. Heres hoping the teasers come before the game release ...

Sorry my 1st comment was for Lee..
I agree with Tom (sorry),
I liked ps3fanboy specifically because there was less x360 raving lunatics jumping across chatting shit. Not cos i'm a fanboy but because I'd rather not read bullshit from xbucks fanatics..
Its not the same, it really isn't, its good to have other people adding notes as well (eg xav), but the atmosphere ain't the same..
Andrew its not your posting.. Yeah we agree with you..

It's just an ad. Stop complaining about the damn thing. It's called setting a mood or tone. Why show off all the goods right away? Build some intrigue. Strippers don't get up on stage already naked, well most at least. They tease for a bit and once you fork over your singles, you get some tits in the face. It isn't like this is going to be the only ad they put out. They'll showcase the guns and violence later. I wouldn't say all the Sony ads have been flops or disappointments. A lot of work goes into making commercials, so unless you have stocks or are working for Sony, i don't think you guys have much to complain about. You know about the game and you probably already pre-ordered it. So explain to me what is truly so god awful about a 10 second ad.

Sony has always had a problem with marketing. Can you think of one commercial for a sony product that really stuck with you? Where is their "Where's the beef?" Where is their "I feel like Chicken Tonight!" The only one I remember is the ps3 commercial with the white room. Where are those Advert guys?

Dare I say, this is even worse than Nintendo marketing for their online service. Yikes.
But Killzone 2 is a definite game to buy, simply because the senses it will please and nothing more. I feel like the PS3 is being pushed once again, and this shall please, but I do not expect nothing more than gooey goodness, no storyline and fair acting.
PSN: F4WMR ... add me to up!

Yeah, 1 million+ pre-orders means they don't NEED to advertise Killzone 2. After posting a loss, they are still pumping cash into it's launch, that's nothing but a good sign.
Remember, Sony can't afford so much advertising because your online is free and they sold you the most advanced console on the market, at a loss!
Saying that, any advertising is better then none, as long as TV's are saying PS3 it's in front of people, everyone knows it's the top console, technically, it just need to justify it's extra initial cost.
The PS3 will grow slowly, PS2 users WILL upgrade.
