You would have to understand that making one game series probably doesnt warrant a lifetime achievement award. Unless the guy is about to die soon which then it's more than understandable.

Take the Favre line he threw in there, if you watch football you would of totally understood this type of sarcasm. We should be expecting alot more out of Kojima. His career is only really starting. At 45 you gotta believe he's got another +10 years in him to design more than just Metal Gear Solid.

why do i still have my pedobear avatar? it's like joystiq hates my sly cooper avatars. i have 2 or 3 good ones that never upload but this one came up on the first try. this means... joystiq is owned by a network of OVER 9000 PEDOBEARS!!!

If your on a gaming blog and you don't know who Sid Meier is you might as well just get a new hobby.

I'd love to give him a third lifetime achievement award once he gets ZOE 3 up and running. Not that I think it will take a lifetime for it to come out. >_>

But it sure would be nice, eh Kojima?

Has any game journalist expressed their distaste with Kojima in public before?

I'm a fan of the MGS series but I can see where it can become self-indulgent at times and where it warrants criticism, and I just know there are people out there who hate Kojima but are too afraid to say it due to the backlash they will get from the fanboys.

Kojima changed the way we view and play games, he took story telling and gameplay to a higher level and if you cant comprehend that go back to playing pong. He gave the gaming industry a new approach to making a game. Rather then just make a good game, give the player something to feel and experience. Get the person playing the game to think after they finished the game. Its like art, an artist isnt going to tell you why he painted that picture or made that sculpture they want the viewer to have their own opinion and thoughts, this can also be shown in novels and short stories. So think before you diss Kojima and keep an open mind.

I get goosebumps just watching Chloe vs. Janine Garofolo's character. I mean it's not literally a match between the two, but you constantly make the 'computer geek' comparisons between the two, knowing that Chloe could kick her butt blindfolded.

Totally deserved, a visionairy in gaming. like the artical says, "a master".

Here's to kojima making many more amazing games and winning many more lifetime acheivement awards.

Mainstream gaming hasn't really been going long enough for peoples actual lifetimes to expire yet. Give it 20 years and Kojima will certainly be up for another.

Amen. I don't care how old the guy is - he has achieved much during his life. Why wait until someone is dead or nearly dead to recognize them? Kojima could quit game designing tomorrow, but would that detract from all that he has accomplished?

My lord, cynicism is so trite.

When I look at how far the Metal Gear series in particular has come since the classic MSX/NES original, I can easily see how Kojima merited this award. With that being said, there are many more producers of whom I could say the same. Let's hope the industry continues to recognize those who've helped to bring video game design to where it is today.

From what i get, Randy is basically saying they are dishing out the "award" fast and almost untimely. He has earned/deserved said award, now is lined up to receive another. Those might take my thoughts on the post as Kojima hate which is not. Yet if you want to go there...
We can fire off names to deserve the award "again", which i don't feel is necessary.

All he needs is a really good story editor and his next game should be the best ever.

It really depends on how deeply you look at the game. If you don't look into the philosophy, the themes, and politics that are involved in the UNIVERSE (not just the story from a single Metal Gear game), you see that the story carved is really something special.

I wholeheartedly think that Kojima deserves these awards.
