LittleBigPlanet snags eight nominations in GANG audio awards
While not as prestigious as the highly coveted Vector Monkey, the Game Audio Network Guild's audio awards are the most respected acknowledgements of achievement in video game sound design in the development community. As such, the aural masterminds over at Media Molecule have a lot to celebrate. GANG's recently released list of 2009 nominees is extremely LittleBigPlanet-centric -- the texturized, D.I.Y. platformer netted eight nods; most notably, it's in the running for Music of the Year, Best Interactive Score and overall Audio of the Year.
Other highly nominated titles include World of Warcraft with five nods, and Fable II, Gears 2, Star Wars: TFU and Dead Space with four a piece. Winners will be announced during GANG's 7th Annual Awards Show, held in conjunction with the 2009 Game Developers Conference on March 26. We've got the full list of nominees posted after the break!

The MGS fanboy in me says they needed more nominations in this, but Koji has recently been recognized so I'm happy about that and shall digress.
Currently playing Fifa 09 and other titles, damn I need to get LBP, for shame... add me to PSN: F4WMR
Holla, Killzone 2.

Actually the one thing that MGS4 absolutely deserved a nomination/win for was it's musical score. Other categories were debatable, but MGS4 definitely had a high-quality score. And bonus points for adding an Ennio Morricone song into the soundtrack.

No one mention the Koran.
Jerk Face @ Feb 17th 2009 8:46PM
I was hoping I'd see Far Cry 2 for 'interactive score.' The way the music would change depending on the action, yet still complement the theme playing before the fighting broke out was really great.
Jerk Face @ Feb 17th 2009 8:48PM
Also: Dead Space better win a lot, because that game's sound was fucking awesome.
CONMAN999 @ Feb 17th 2009 9:06PM
Yea man I agree. I thought that game was great and the music done with it was wonderful. Too bad though for it. And does anyone know why Fallout 3 is in for Best Use of Licensed Music???
Moris @ Feb 18th 2009 10:50AM
They used License Classic music when you'd listen to the radio on your Pip Boy. Correct me if i'm wrong. :P
kocagil @ Feb 17th 2009 9:48PM
aaah, enough is enough, i just bought this game used on amazon for quite cheap.
one can play first person shooters for a reasonable amount of total time, I found once and for all. beating cod5, far cry 2, bioshock and uncharted for the 3rd time, time for calmer side of things.
fifa soundtracks are usually good but this year not award deserving.
by the way fifa for ps3 is finally getting trophies, and a new game mode which seems different. you guys need to do a little post for that.

LittleBigPlanet was probably my favorite game soundtrack of last year as it was so eclectic.
Also I enjoyed MGS4's and Fallout 3's.
WhatIsThatThing @ Feb 18th 2009 1:54AM
No Brawl? Seriously?
ScottG13 @ Feb 18th 2009 10:25AM
For what? Best Vocal? Best Interactive Cut Scene?
Be serious.
WhatIsThatThing @ Feb 18th 2009 12:18PM
How about the theme song by Nobuo Uematsu?
Or the millions of classic Nintendo songs remixed that play in the levels?
TimDurbin24 @ Feb 18th 2009 4:06PM
