F just sounds like a nuisance. I mean the whole reason I get achievements is to hear the oh so awesome "bleep-bloop"....that would ruin achievements for me lol.

I was going to send a request to MS for a possible 1000 gamerpoints for Netflix.

Instant Star: Watch One Whole Movie.
Instant Buff: Watch 25 Whole Movies.
Instant Expert: Watch 50 Whole Movies.
Film Star: Watch 5 Hours Total Footage,
Film Buff: Watch 25 Hours Total Footage
Film Expert: Watch 100 Hours Total Footage.
Silver Screen: Watch A TV Show.
The Anti-Boxed Set: Watch A Whole TV Show Season.

Those are quick examples I thought up.

as long as I don't need to play online or use netflix..

would rather a league system for online play though.. where people like me who very rarely play multiplayer, play likewise people who would be rubbish against someone who spends everynight online.. I haven't found the true skill system to work all that well yet.. Halo 3s works best I usually get a good game there.. but Gears 2 someone (or 2...) always leaves 'my' team..

How about achievements for reaching gamerscore milestones?
Examples:
An achievement for:
Unlocking 1000GS in XBLA games.
Reaching 20K, 30K, 40K GS

LOVE the idea of in game rewards for unlocking certian achievements. Gamer pics, weapons, whatever.

XBLA games only have 200GS, but yeah, I know what you mean.
As for unlocking gamer pictures and stuff, I would imagine that there would be more game-related Avatar clothes.

I have also often thought about having non-game achievements such as 50 DVDs and stuff, but then they wouldn't feel like achievements because I wouldn't have to achieve anything to get them.

Speaking of which, I hate people with the Avatar game and have 1000 points. Achievement whores.

I think he knows the XBL games have 200 points, the point being that after you gained a 1000 by say playing X amount of games, you get that achievement.

I brought this up back in 05 and was laughed off the internet. Suck it.

But seriously, the achievements have been getting out of hand. Didn't all the achievements have rules? Namely that any gamer could get the and not have to pay additional costs (looking at you Madden 07 and Fable 2!), and capped scores etc. I know Fallout 3 is looking to break the 1250 barrier. (O:A 100 + Pitt 100 + Broken Steal 150)

Payed for dlc [optionally] adds 250 each time.

And you don't need DLC to get the 1000/1000 for Fable2 + Madden 07.

@ Tiptup300

Summarizing from here : http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/2007/02/01/540575.aspx

Games can require you have DLC to acquire achievements, but the DLC must be free (for Original 1000/1000)

Fable II : Completionist you need to have Pub Games (yes you can tade for the DLC stuff, but good luck on getting it cheap or even knowing to ask w/o going on the net)

Madden 07 required importing a draft class from NCAA 07.

Im not sure if they are still doing it, but they posted codes for the pub games nearly everyday on the lionhead dev blogs, thats how I got mine.

I think they shouldn't add the extra GS to your game unless you actually own the DLC as well.

Also am I the only one who thinks they need to update the notifications? They look really ugly and don't fit in with the new dash at all. Different icon/sound for achievement notifications would be nice as I have had friends come online and thought I had just unlocked a hard achievement etc.

That kind of diminishes the point of having a "Gamer" Score. They would have to come up with something like Media Score or Misc Score. Watching movies has nothing to do with how well you can kill people or whatever you do in games that make you the man.

Then again it's just a Gamer Score. Age is just a number unless she's under 18. HAHA.

I was just thinking this same thing. It would be a great way to get people to use other 360 features. I would hope they would be harder than just watching 50 movies.

Non gaming achievements = lame.

if they did something like this i would deliberately avoid every single achievement like the plague. whoever thought of it should be kicked square in the balls. id rather see more steroids in baseball than get gamerpoints for watching dvds.

(im not a baseball fan either if you cant tell)

I recently wrote about something like this (which I wont link to as i know full well no-one cares about my shitty little blog ;-] ) and I'd love it if 'bonus' achievements could be obtained outside of the xbox itself, like say if you watched a training video on a FPS' official site or something like that. I'd personally love achievements to bridge media boundaries so I'm all up for non-gaming ones...

As long as they don't show up on my list like games do (when you first put in a disc all of your locked achievements show) then I'm fine with it. I don't have netflix installed, therefor I do not want to see them as something I can unlock. This is a very lame idea.

Environmental cheevos sound cool, but I would rather just keep the regular beep thingy. Also, cheevos for non game stuff sound like a good idea, but I doubt it would happen. Have the xbox on for so long, so many dvds, join so many parties, download so many gigs worth of stuff, spend so many ms points, it all sounds nice, but I don't see it happening this generation.

Everything else on that list is rubbish.

Watching 50 movies isn't an achievement. It's a sign that you need to get out of the house more.

Also, Gears of War 2 already does what line A is proposing. It's a really nice feature to be able to see how close you are to obtaining an achievement. The only negative is that it kind of breaks your immersion in the game.

These are all stupid as hell. I like the fact that it's a GAMERSCORE, not just a bunch of numbers that go up. Also for the one that says someone suggests user-based content for a future update.. if a friend gets that achievement, how am I supposed to match him?

If it's not broke, don't fix it.

I think it would be a good idea to have introductory achievements for the dashboard for new owners to discover everything the 360 can do. A lot of people I know didn't know how to change the theme, enable background downloading, or how to get marketplace on the web, so achievements may be a good way to get people to explore their console.

I always thought that Dashboard Achievements would be a good idea, but only if it was based around games. The whole "Watch 50 DVD's" idea is just ridiculous!

Microsoft. Here are a few good ideas.

- Collected every achievment for [X] amount of retail games
- Collected every achievment for [X] amount of arcade games
- Finished [X] amount of retail games.
- Finished [X] amount of arcade games.
- Finished [X] amount of [genre] games.
- Reach over 10,000 gamerscore.
- Reach over 30,000 gamerscore.
- Reach over 50,000 gamerscore.

Maybe even a few achievements related to TrueSkill would be cool. Let me know what you guys think.

Achievement Unlocked
OVER 9000!!! - 30 GS
Reach over 9000 gamerscore!!
