I have to say, I'm actually pretty damn impressed with what I see. The game looks to retain alot of the atmosphere that made the original game so damn creepy and the fact that you'll be able to use most of the same abilities from the first game is pretty damn impressive for a rail shooter.

Since Dead Space was one of my favorite games(if not favorite) game of 2008, I have faith that this title, light gun or not, will turn out to be awesome as well.

No love for the rail shooter over here :(

Well screw you guys, and don't even think about coming over and asking to play. I'm not opening my door, not even if you're holding chocolate chip muffins. No dice.

A horror TPS would work great on the Wii, EA should take a good look at RE4. An on-rail shooter doesn't make ANY sense, I can't believe they would ruin the franchise for the Wii like this. Nobody will buy it, and EA will never release another Dead Space game on Wii after that. Sigh.

just like how CAPCOM ruined the Resident Evil series with Umbrella Chronicles right? That sold what, 2 copies? And look what happened, CAPCOM stopped making Resident Evil games

Oh, wait a second...

I have many doubts about this. Nintendo is the only system whose games look horrible before it is even made. Dead Rising WII looked like garbage even before it started to show official screens. I never got why every one is trying to shove ports onto the WII when the PS3 could run it so much better. They refused to give Sony Dead is Rising but instead they crammed it on to the WII. But I think I understand. The WII is a "safe" investment. People keep saying that developers are investing in the WII because it has potential and they are taking them seriously. But it is because if these games fail the company didn't put much money into it anyway so they don't lose out that much. The game won't sell 3 million units or anything but will at least sell enough to get a profit, even if it looks like pixalted crap. Also you can depend on reviewers and gamers to say "it looks good for a WII game" and that fixes everything.

Just an FYI: crack's bad for your health...

Capcom didn't 'refuse to give Sony Dead Rising'. You'd have to be smoking some high-grade to get that impression, when they've just announced Dead Rising 2 for PS3 (and not Wii)...

Looks like video with polys overlaid. How very next gen.

Kinda like Microcosm on the Amiga CD32 back in '96.

Day one purchase for me. Why?

1) Dead Space franchise (Dead Space on 360 was amazing game, would have bought it if I knew it was going to be that good, but instead finished it in a rental...)
2) On rails shooter - works so well with the Wii (ie: Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles).
3) Sounds like it's based on the events that took place during the Dead Space movie, which was pretty sweet.
4) I'm rich

i haven't bought an on-rails shooter for the wii yet, and i'm not about to start now.

Dead Space was on my day one purchases list before (I love FPS's, but not light-gun games), now it's totally off of my radar. there's enough other games that will keep my money elsewhere.

So basically we get another not "real" game on the Wii, but instead a light gun rail shooter with Dead Space branding applied to it for improved sales. And a female heroine to make it even better, since everything these days needs a female, preferrably mixed-race protagonist or at least sidekick.

I loved Dead Space and was excited enough when I heard it might not be a port but a spin-off, but a rail-shooter isn't exactly screaming Dead Space mood and atmosphere to me. Also I doubt they can top the no-bullshit Isaac as silent protagonist and instead will go for some vocal cool and hip kind of girl. I already dread the punchlines flying around "eat my sawblade necomorph scum!"

glad he sold his wii ......SO GIVING IN TO 3RD PARTYS DELIBRATLY TRYING TO DAM WIIS IMAGE IS A GOOD THING....do you accually think before you type/speak

giving in / selling out is not the answer the answer is to DEMAND 3rd partys innovate abnd support core YOU DO THIS BY NOT BUYING THE SHIIT AND BUYING THE GREAT IN HUGE NUMBERS

this is a wash out by EA this is some twat in a suit going oh no oh no dont chance a 3rd person action game on a fami;ly gay casual console (THAT DOESNT ACCUALLY EXIST) AND IGNORE RES EVIL 4S SALES

EA YOUR A JOKE PLAY THE MAN YOUR A BIGGER JOKE

THIS IS A EA ISSUE NOT A WII ISSUE TWAT BOY

Dead Space Overaction.I've seen the footage and it doesn't look half bad, in fact it looks too good.I not only approve EA's decision to make it a rail shooter out of the fact that it is a sound business decision but off the strength of how much fun it would be to share that atmosphere with a second player and ain't that the reason we play games.

D: Please make it so that we can see the character's arms and gun, so it's like we're seeing from their eyes.

Chronicles had an awful atmosphere because it -felt- like I was shooting at the screen, not shooting zombies. It's fine for shooting Ducks, but not Zombies.

THERE OVERLY PLAYING THE CASUAL LIKE UBISOFT HAVE DONE

core games with pick up controls do not need to be gimped or retarded out for people to buy ITS AN EA EXCUSE there delibratly doing this to insite a fake wii image

anti Nintendo lies by EA

1..ds is for under 18s psp for everyone else ;;truth ds sells to all psp only sells to chavs ds user base mostly adults psp mostly kids and teens EA you lied

2.. MOH heroes 2 built for wii ;;;TRUTH it was ported from psp

3..fifa wii (the first one) has ps2 engine as wii is weaker than xbox 1 ;;;; truth wii = 2.5 times a xbox one level machine and gamecube was = to xbox also stated no shaders AS THO TERV UNIT DIDN'T EXIST ;;;TRUTH it was ps2 ported on the cheap and the top down cam and crappy motion was just an excuse pro evo wii proved thast by leaving all other football games obsolete in comparison

4;; dead space casualed out on wii to gain casual sales EA ignores res evil 4 true 3rd [person core sales on wii over 1 million

Sounds like more "me too" halfassery attempting to follow up on the moderate success of UC and HotD. Seriously, the genre is just saturated now. Apparently "casual-core" is quickly becoming the new "casual". Full-featured games like Madworld and the Conduit (among others) can't come out soon enough...

I don't think "guided FPS" necessarily means "lightgun game." Obviously we'll need to see more footage, but it looks to me like an FPS where you look and don't move -- more like Umbrella Chronicles with free look, which actually could be pretty interesting.

I understand their choice in making it an on rails shooter.
It's mainly for the multiplayer feature. Look at all the successful (for lack of a better word) games for the Wii. None of them took advantage of split screening because its difficult to make on the Wii so that its easy to use. Some liberties were taken and personally it has made me skeptical of the single player game play, but I wouldnt rule it out completely.
One of my favorite parts of the first Dead Space was free roaming on a giant abandoned ship. The 3rd person view was (in my personal opinion) better than most FPS and the floating HUD allowed for continuous gameplay which got rid of pesky cut scene boredom. Even advancing the plot was seamlessly laced into the gameplay, providing a very interesting oppurtunity to differently experience the game, as you control the camera.
With that being said i was displeased with the fact that there was no multiplayer, the plot picked up after the fact, and by the end of the game i had almost completely upgraded all my weapons which made combat almost monotonous and dull.
In this PREQUEL (and i capitalize prequel because it is just a prequel) the universe of dead space is expanded upon as we watch the two sides established in the first game battle for control of the marker, the out break of the virus, how it got from planet side to the ship and various other sides to a very advanced and compelling story.
Personally im excited to see how this unfolds in the next few months, though still skeptical of the design. My questions become; Have they sacrificed mood and atmosphere as well the free roaming of the first game to transcend to the Wii?, Will Nicole return, and is that the woman character? Will my favorite unitologist return? How will the on rail shooter effect game play? Should we expect a Dead Space sequel?
