Guitar Hero: Metallica box art 'mispellz' Lynyrd Skynyrd

Take a look at this close-up of the recently released Guitar Hero: Metallica box art. Note the highlighted name "Lynyrd Skynrd," located in the top left. The band's name is clearly misspelled. The correct spelling is "Lynyrd Skynyrd" -- duh.

Some conspiracists might insist that the error is intentional, enforced by Metallica (take note: "Metallica" is spelled correctly), which secretly despises Skynyrd's musical success and demanded humiliation in the form of a misspelling. Seriously? No, that can't be it. Chalk up this mistake to poor proofing. (On a side note: we're petitioning to have "Lynyrd Skynyrd" introduced into the Scripps National Spelling Bee -- it's a tough one!)

I'm sure Mr. Crue and Mr. Zeppelin would also be embarrassed if their names were spelled wrong. Because they're people, you see.

Statistically, despite being the most famous band of all time, ask any MTV-Kid about Led Zep and 9/10 times the answer will be "Never heard of him." or "Don't know his music very well".

So yeah, let this one slide.

My favorite; "If the zeppelin is made of lead, how does it fly?"

Actually Leonard Skinner is a guy whom they happened to name the band after. I saw them interview him on Behind the Music. I'm sure he's grown used to the misspellings by now.

There are no excuses for that kind of idiocy. Especially when trying to mock someone else. Get your facts straight and THEN let the sarcasm fly, baby.

Anyone born south of the Mason-Dixon line could spell Lynyrd Skynyrd in their sleep.

You would think, with all the bands out there using "incorrect" spellings of common words as their names (Beatles, Monkees, etc.), someone might make it a priority to double-check the spelling of the bands' names. It's not like this is the first GH game with Skynyrd in it either.

It's misspelled in the description on Gamestop's website also.
