Harrah's Casinos herald in month-long Rock Band competition

The musical event kicks off in March at 17 Harrah's casinos in the US and Canada, with weekly Rock Band competitions offering up various prizes. Come April, four regional contests will take place, with the most talented group receiving $10,000 and the opportunity to open for The B-52s in Atlantic City. Registration details and a list of participating casinos can be viewed here.
Note that no Harrah's Rock Band competition band of any talent level will match the musical prowess that was Robin and the Stiqers or the E3 '08 Joystiq Band. Just be glad that team Joystiq isn't entering the casino rock-off.

Rock Band is not meant to be taken seriously. Coming from a guy who has beaten GH II, GH III, GH Aerosmith, Rock Band and rock Band 2 on expert.

interesting..

I may have only had the game 3 weeks.. but I can't do hard yet for the strum bars dead zone.. it seems to work best with just down strokes/strums.. on a real guitar I usually alternate pick, where I can play for ages, but RB2 kills me within a few tracks...
slycooper_rocker @ Feb 18th 2009 11:08PM
in hard and expert, you can't survive by just down strumming. you gotta alternate. even bass is really hard.
Mazrael @ Feb 19th 2009 10:45AM
I have been trying to alternate, but the green bar drops to yellow so quick, I have to downstrum just to get back to green.. I tested it before a song started, how far it needs to move before it triggers, and its pretty much all the way to the plastic either way.. I don't even need to think about it on a real guitar,, although RB is helpful with finger independance..

hmmm... sounds interesting. except for the fact i'd be embarrassed opening for the b-52s by playing rock band.
bill51 @ Feb 19th 2009 2:08AM
I'd be embarrassed opening for the B52's.
baby sea tuna @ Feb 19th 2009 8:19AM
You shut up! The B-52s were the first big show I ever saw, and they were awesome.
Evan @ Feb 18th 2009 11:28PM
How the hell is someone playing a fake toy guitar the opening act at a rock concert where people pay money to see skilled people play real instruments?
aggrazel @ Feb 19th 2009 9:39AM
I'm not sure which is worse, really playing fake instruments or faking playing real instruments ... to ponder ...
