Flower is a masterpiece. There is room in the market for small, unique games AND AAA titles.

I didnt buy a ps3 to play $10 games, I got the most expensive console to play million dollar games, As fun and pretty as flower is, I finished it in a few hours, where i still go back and play MGS, GTA, burnout etc. however i cant see myself playing flower to much.
A point with Flower. its starts off all nice and bright and pretty but the last half of the game is at night, WTF.

My point I want games that push the hardware, Evolution of technology. Flower might be a new idea but its pushs nothing, Bring on Killzone 2. Big Budget Titles push the boundaries not $10 games.

Everyone in their place please.

You probably shouldn't have bought it then, otherwise you're kind of making their point for them!

I disagree that Flower specifically doesn't push the metaphorical envelope. Flow and a bunch of others don't, but I've never seen a 1080P game run so well and look so damn good as Flower. Wipeout HD does the same I think.

Flower does look sweet in 1080p but there is not a lot going on, Wipeout is fast, sharp and as smooth as a babys bum, ya got textures, particles other vechiles and a whole lot of 3D, Flower is flat, rock faces arent detailed nor are the buildings, petals arent a 3d object but a 2D mathematical animation, busrts of color are from a set camera postition.
Im not trying to knock flower, I love it, But it shouldnt be hailed a master piece but mere experiment, would be nice to see this idea taken and used in other games.

I would hate to see a flood of PSN games and lack of big buget babies. it would be a step back.

I would however like to see a demo of the PS3 power, you hear all this polymorphic textures, physic, ray tracing and super computer talk. but im still to see anything that makes go 'WOW thats unbelivable'. nothing to really show CELL processing power. I guess as time goes on, and people learn the cell things will change. but there is nothing that the 360 cant do apart from bluray storage.

Oh, my point wasn't that Flower is an uber-stretching of the PS3's power (although I do think you don't give it enough credit for how intensive it actually is), but rather a comment that Flower does push an envelope and does do new things (although I agree as mostly an experiment, but I'd certainly like to see more) as simply a beautiful and detailed (I do diagree about the buildings and terrain having no detail) game, that is a technological feat, just not always one of hardware.

I also think you overestimate the 360, there are things on the PS3 the 360 can't do already, GT4, or MGS4, I suspect flower, although not for technological reasons, but for philosophy, Sony put their support behind Flower. (In fairness to the 360, it has the thing where truely independant programmers can simply put their software on LIVE, which is a feature PSN should include in my opinion). Remember though, this isn't PC, you're going to see things that wow you on there.

Not to the detriment of big games of course.
