Skate 2 introduces 'Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Plaza' DLC [update]

Update: EA has dished out some screens for the DLC. Hit up the gallery below to check them out.

Unless you wanted to unlock everything the easy way or cut some awesome videos, there hasn't been much support in the way of DLC for us Skate 2 fans. That is, until now, as EA has unveiled Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Plaza for the game.

The new bit of DLC is available today on PSN and XBLM for $5.00 and 400

, respectively, and allows skaters to blunt slide and manual around the centerpiece of Rob's MTV show, Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory, as well as the surrounding downtown Los Angeles area. Rob was pretty impressed with Black Box's job of recreating the space in the game, as he comments it has all of "the ledges, gaps and rails" of his showpiece, and "more surprises outside the park that both gamers and skaters will enjoy."

So who's going to shred up Rob's Fantasy Plaza?

What he forgot to add is, upon paying that amount, you are then put in queue for Rob Dyrdek himself to skate and deface your property.

500$ for DLC is just fair. EA is just trying to fill up the financial holes, and that's totally o.k.!
If 10000 persons download it, then EA will make 5 millions. Impressive business-plan!
I think most publishers will go this way. How about a new Sackboy costume for 1000$? Real exclusive and you would really belong to the Elite!

I've got an idea, why don't they provide some DLC that fixes this piece of crap? This game is nearly unplayable on PS3 sometimes due to terrible framerate.

You should be used to that by now, amiright?

ughh i hate the new joystiq cuz all these people flame non stop, its not the ps3s fault its the developers fault, the ps3 is WAY more powerful than the wii and 360 together but the monkeys over at ea dont know how to make a game for the ps3 EVEN THOUGH i have no trouble with it , but for orange box its a pain of course.

seriously, what framerate drops are occurring for you that make this unplayable? the only time i see framerate drops is when starting a contest or race but it works fine after about 1 to 2 seconds. nothing that makes it "nearly unplayable" for sure.

@itbekevin2010: i'm with this guy. give the ps3ers their own space to bitch about stuff that doesn't really exist such as justin's crippling framerate example. stop with the flaming bags of poo.

If you really could skate off of piles of money in this DLC, that would be hilarious and totally worth purchasing.

I'm definitely going to get this. I've had 400 MS points for about a month now and I didn't know what the hell to spend it on.

it would also appear that some a classic spot or two, (community center and the elementary school) are making a comeback... have a look at the updated achievements. i was so sad those two spots were gone, and apparently, i wasnt the only one.

Hell yeah! Man I will be checking this out for sure!

I hate Rob Dyrdek, mostly because he has an awesome life and mine sucks.

You should also mention that next week they are releasing a Skate 1 pack with remastered Skate 1 areas like the CC, the school and some other place, all for $5.

Details on this DLC for those interested...

It includes the factory and outside area (huge). This includes loading bays and a sewer ditch (like the spillway). The loading bays are awesome.

Includes new achievements.

Includes a series of missions (5) ended with a Jam session.

Includes 5 new spots for OTS mode.

Includes online freeskate activities (8) for online fun.

All-in-all, this is totally worth less than a fast food combo meal, $5. More DLC should be like this.

this looks pretty cool i guess Skate 2 is goin on my list of games to get, i just got farcry 2 brand new for 23 bux so this is gonna have to wait

Just wanted to update everyone on my thoughts:

Played it for about an hour now. Basically, if you like Skate 2 this is totally worth it. The $5 price tag is really well done, and you get A LOT of content for the price.

The whole new area is quite large. There's the inside place which is pretty nice but what I am finding I like more, is the outside area which is very big. Lots of different stair sets, rails and so forth. Along with the streets and indoors there's a sewer area, and the roof which is really cool. More filming video challenges, as well as numerous more spots to own and kill. There's also a new Jam session (haven't played it yet myself, but a friend of mine has.)

So overall, I think any Skate 2 fan would agree that this is quite a bit of content for $5. Very nicely done done with this DLC and I highly recommend it for anyone who wants more places to skate at!
