'Titan Pack' coming to Unreal Tournament 3 on March 5th
Midway and Epic Games have decided to Titan up the graphics on Unreal Tournament 3 with the addition of an extensive new map pack, dubbed the "Titan Pack." The free download, aimed exclusively at the PlayStation 3 and PC versions of the first-person fragger, will add 11 new multiplayer maps for several of the game's modes, as well as eight maps culled from the Xbox 360 version and a prior bonus pack.
Our pals at Big Download have a hands-on preview of the content, including its two new modes: Greed mode, a "tug-of-war" style points battle; and Betrayal mode, which prompts you to tactfully turn on teammates if you feel like swiping the score for yourself. More intriguing is the new Titan mutator, which turns a skilled player into a towering Behemoth, excitedly described by the press release as "a 15-foot tall maestro of wholesale carnage that has the effects of every Power Up in the game... ALL AT ONCE!!!"
Finally, the Titan Pack expands Unreal Tournament 3's array of deployed equipment, Trophies (Steam Achievements for the PC version) and turrets. ALL AT ONCE!!! Look for it on Thursday, March 5th.
[Update: When asked about a 360 version, Midway explained that this update will bring many of the enhancements already included in the Xbox release to the PS3 and PC. "Given the file size requirements for updates on the Xbox 360 platform, we have no plans to release the Titan Pack for Xbox 360."]

so, did this game really do that poorly on the 360?
StalkerX7 @ Feb 19th 2009 7:10AM
What makes you think that?
WiredKnight @ Feb 19th 2009 12:28PM
@mgsrocks1
Spoiler: Unreal 4 is on the way.
debaser @ Feb 19th 2009 3:25PM
@ wiredknight.
Unreal 4 is in development but hopefully you do realize it's for Next Gen Consoles.... as in PS4 and 720
--------------------------------------------
from an interview back in 2005...
We've got Unreal [Engine] 4 in production right now," Capps said. "It's going to be in the next console generation—our rough guess is 2012 [to] 2018." The reason for this long production track is because Epic doesn't intend for it to be used on this generation of consoles
mgsrocks1 @ Feb 19th 2009 7:17AM
That game is dead on both consoles. You can't even find one person to play against online. Epic should just instead focus on making a better sequel. There are so many AAA games to look forward to that I don't think anyone really gives a crap about Unreal Tournament III.
Lars @ Feb 19th 2009 5:24PM
Well, the PC version is still strong. I'm sure they just are also porting the DLC to PS3 because it's extremely easy. Heck, it's super-easy to make maps yourself for the PS3 version.
It's a shame it was so overlooked. It's a very solid tournament-style shooter. I guess people are more into stories right now than good PvP.
Beastage @ Feb 19th 2009 7:42AM
Well it isn't dead... but close to it
This pack stirs alot of excitement and with steam it will boost people numbers , in fact the amount of servers for UT3 had tripled it self in the past few days.
AkaMagi @ Feb 19th 2009 10:29AM
So there are 6 servers now? Impressive.
This game is dead on both consoles and PC. It's amazing that Epic's flagship title has fallen to the wayside as thier 360 exclusive game outsells it by leaps and bounds.
Lee @ Feb 19th 2009 7:57AM
Well if this is what 2004 was to 2003 then I'm all for it. I have the Unreal games on Steam so I guess I'll have to download 3 again soon.
steverl22 @ Feb 19th 2009 7:59AM
This game was on sale for $10 last week and people still weren't buying it.
I did pick up simpsons for $10
Pudge @ Feb 19th 2009 7:59AM
I can't fathom why Epic wouldn't release this for all consoles. Did Sony pay extra or something? Not like I'd ever play it because of Halo 3 and Gears 2, but still, it just seems stupid to limit updates to one or two versions of the game.
Kola @ Feb 19th 2009 8:09AM
Kinda like all the 360 timed exclusive updates... that PS3 owners have to wait sometimes a year for? Sony doesn't have the money to pay for exclusives, they make their own games, and before I get cussed out. The reason why is because the PSN is more open than Live hence the user mods on the PS3 version.
magicfett @ Feb 19th 2009 10:14AM
Welcome to our world my friend.
Herby @ Feb 19th 2009 8:03AM
This does add trophies for PS3. And it adds split screen and MOd Browsing.
Check out this link.

Troy Powers @ Feb 19th 2009 8:45AM
If this really does add split-screen, it might prompt me to play it a couple times. As is, I bought it, realized there was no split-screen and put it on the shelf...where it's been for over a year now.
Bucket @ Feb 19th 2009 11:40AM
Holy shit, if it's got splitscreen then I'm buying it. That was a huge omission from the game in my opinion.
Duke @ Feb 19th 2009 1:29PM
I have the game and was really bothered it didn't have split screen or trophy support. Its one of those games you want to play split screen with people and have some laughs, yet they left that out. Now, with these improvements the game will get some play by me at least. These are major improvements.
ThornedVenom (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ Feb 19th 2009 10:34PM
@Bucket: It says FREE DOWNLOAD.
arrness @ Feb 20th 2009 1:01AM
it does only say 2 player splitscreen, which is a downside, however it is about 10 bucks now.
does that mean online split screen?
also i found this quite interesting
http://www.videogamer.com/news/19-04-2008-8079.html
Hyams @ Feb 19th 2009 8:07AM
Lots of other sites are claiming that this includes 2 player splitscreen for the PS3 version too. If that's true, I might finally pick it up.
Sharpie @ Feb 19th 2009 8:10AM
YES!!! thank you Epic!!!
pjak @ Feb 19th 2009 3:18PM
+1
I just love this game and this pack sounds amazing. More PS3 trophies without buying a new game - lol - I can't wait for the release... I'm so glad I bought it - only did as I thought KEYB and MOUSE support on a console was so EPIC... ;-)
DePetri @ Feb 19th 2009 8:13AM
From Eurogamer: "And we couldn't do the mod browser, there's no structure for that on the 360. And the pack is larger than Microsoft's patch limit," Epic's Steve Bolge added."
AceWarrior007 @ Feb 19th 2009 8:20AM
Edited due to rampant fanboyism.
CLupula @ Feb 19th 2009 8:30AM
Gee, let's see, Resistance 2, Metal Gear Online, Warhawk, Killzone 2...
Should I go on, son?
GiggMan @ Feb 19th 2009 8:32AM
Yeah you,re right, although I was thinking about maybe playing the new Killzone game thats coming out, but yeah you're right.........
dantad @ Feb 19th 2009 8:35AM
Maybe some Killzone 2?
Troy Powers @ Feb 19th 2009 8:48AM
Ummmm...yeah, because PS3 doesn't have any good games.
Wow, is it 2006 where you live?
magicfett @ Feb 19th 2009 10:18AM
Good job with the edit this needs to die already it's been over two years since that even came close to holding water.
CLupula @ Feb 19th 2009 8:30AM
You know, I sold this game about a year ago, but if I can find it for the mentioned $10, then I may just pick it up again after this update.
Archon @ Feb 19th 2009 8:33AM
Yes! That's what I was waiting for. Split Screen and Trophies? I'm in! Time to dust my copy!
debaser @ Feb 19th 2009 8:35AM
This is great news!
And there are more than enough people still playing to find a game the only problem is that the people still playing it are so freaking good at it I get killed every 10 seconds.
I'm not a big fan of FPS games but UT3 got me addicted. It's so fast paced it, after playing UT3 than picking up Resistance, the later just felt like it was in slow motion or something.
debaser @ Feb 19th 2009 8:37AM
ignore typos / grammar etc... wrote the post before i had any caffeine this morning
jbird @ Feb 19th 2009 8:36AM
Is this game worth buying generally? Single player and so forth...
The reviews are pretty good and the screens look impressive, along with the cheap price it seems pretty tempting, but people seem to bash it?
debaser @ Feb 19th 2009 8:39AM
The single player campaign is ok. Nothing special, as someone said think of it as one big tutorial and it will be fun.
That said, I read somewhere they are updating the AI of the bots and with Trophies added It'll make it worth another play through for me.
GiggMan @ Feb 19th 2009 8:36AM
Never was in to the Unreal series, but hell I'm game.
Jonathan Coole @ Feb 19th 2009 8:39AM
Between this, CODs map pack price cut and its double xp weekend, and MGSOs raiden expansion is every online game trying to bash KZ2's opening day? Is everyone really trying to hold it back that much.......
Troy Powers @ Feb 19th 2009 8:51AM
I hope not. It would be a waste of time. Killzone 2 is incredible! I'm still going through withdrawal from the beta.
Blkant @ Feb 19th 2009 10:07AM
I'm the same way, every time I go to play a different game I get 5 minuets into it and quit. Its become KZ2 or nothing and the game is still eight days away :'(
magicfett @ Feb 19th 2009 10:20AM
I don't know if that is the case or not but they have to do something to make me eject that game from my bd drive. The online modes are already incredible and with talk of DLC in the works the 27th can't get here soon enough for me.
daaWick @ Feb 19th 2009 8:55AM
I started playing UT3 again a few months ago and I am having a blast. In fact I prefer it to a lot of other multiplayer games. With this update I hope it spurs new life in the game. I am really excited about it.
il_duce620 @ Feb 19th 2009 9:08AM
I was SOOOO gonna trade this in toward "Killzone 2" (although I knew I wouldn't get much $$$ for it), but damn...guess I won't be doing that... Especially with trophy support now, I'm all over it!
I grabbed it for $17 used from Gamefly a few months ago and, while fun, I just didn't put much time into it due to other games.
Guibs @ Feb 19th 2009 9:17AM
I bought this game on PC at gogamer.com a few weeks ago for 9.90$ because of the upcomong patch and Steam integration (even if you buy the retail version, you can enter your CD key in steam to get the game from them).
I thought that at 10$ for the PC version it was worth giving it a try when the new patch comes out.
Tim Parsons @ Feb 19th 2009 9:22AM
Trophies as in PSN trophies? I've read this info on about 5 or so sites now and this was the only one to have that written
il_duce620 @ Feb 19th 2009 11:58AM
Indeed, as in PSN trophies.
It's more clear if you read through the Big Download article, but that's indeed what it means.
Brett from Atlanta @ Feb 19th 2009 9:25AM
Judges? ...hmmmm, ok. It seems that no one cares. Thanks so much for playing though UT3. Here is a $25 gift certificate to Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
j.howlett @ Feb 19th 2009 9:28AM
i was just thinking about getting this game, good news
CrzyNick @ Feb 19th 2009 9:33AM
YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!I love ut3 but I hope they add voice chat, so I can talk trash as I betray my team in the new game mode.
dark_inchworm (on Steam!) dark inchworm (on XBL!) @ Feb 19th 2009 9:33AM
"Titan up the graphics"
LUDWIG.
YOU. FUCKING. WIN.
jumpshot @ Feb 19th 2009 9:33AM
Awesome! I just hope this brings more players back to this game on PSN.
