Codemasters drops release windows for Dirt 2, Overlord II, Fuel, others
Codemasters is avoiding the holiday rush by releasing several of its titles this year during the sleepy summer months (and for this, we thank them). The Overlord sequel, FUEL, and a little game that caught our eye, Jumpgate Evolution, all drop during low-pressure sales months. Codies will release DiRT 2 much closer to the holiday insanity:
- DiRT 2 - September (X360, PS3, Wii, PC, DS, PSP)
- FUEL - May (X360, PS3, PC)
- Overlord II - June (X360, PS3, PC)
- Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising - Summer (X360, "PlayStation system," PC)
- Jumpgate Evolution - June (PC)

That picture is made of pure concentrated win.

Can't wait for Overlord 2!
Tiptup300 @ Feb 20th 2009 1:01PM
The first one was awesome, but it didn't quite feel finished. Overlord 2 unfortunately seems more of exactly the same.
I really hope they update the HUD and UI stuff. The loading screen was terrible.
CannabisPrime @ Feb 20th 2009 1:19PM
It definitely didn't feel finished, but it was still loads of fun. If Overlord 2 is more of the same, I'll be happy.
Knight Marquise @ Feb 20th 2009 2:11PM
Same here Cannabis...day 1 purchase for me, I spent tons of time on Overlord.
Jonathan @ Feb 20th 2009 2:54PM
I'm definitely picking up Overlord 2. Overlord was an amazingly pleasant surprise, even if the fun wore off torwards the end (by the troll village, I was over it. Coincidentally many people I talk to stopped there as well).
I would definitely buy O2 on day 1.
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 20th 2009 12:07PM
Something about Codemasters choice for names makes me laugh a bit, they aren't very good at it :)
FUEL, GRiD, DiRT
What next?
TORqUE, ENGiNE, SPeED??
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 20th 2009 12:09PM
Saying that, can't wait for thier lineup :D Bring me more quality racing Codemasters and I shall reward you with the cirlcular and papery things I have :D
Dirty @ Feb 20th 2009 1:03PM
People still pay for things with cash? All I have is this rectangular plastic thingy.
aggrazel @ Feb 20th 2009 1:23PM
If fuel delivers on its promise it will singlehandedly make up for the fact that 2009 seems like a lean year for video game releases.
Shader @ Feb 20th 2009 12:17PM
Ah Codemasters, one of the few British developers to survive from the 8/16 bit era. Remake Captain Dynamo! (and the Dizzys of course)
chris.coff.eepor @ Feb 20th 2009 12:24PM
This game looks like it will rock!
FatalChaos @ Feb 20th 2009 12:23PM
Was the first Dirt released on PSP as well? IF so was it any good, my PSP needs some type of game after Resistance.
Marty @ Feb 20th 2009 12:37PM
I really liked Overlord - I hope the second game is just as good.
Shagittarius @ Feb 20th 2009 12:40PM
I enjoyed the first Overlord, I'm looking forward to the sequel.
Louis @ Feb 20th 2009 12:41PM
Yay! More DiRT. It has been one of my favorite racing games ever. It may not have the perfect handling of GT or all the features of Forza, but it perfectly captures the excitement and intensity of Rally racing.
Only game I've ever cared about getting all 1000 Achievement points for.
Tim Parsons @ Feb 20th 2009 12:43PM
Sweet I'll be picking up Overlord II loved the first one
Courtney @ Feb 20th 2009 12:44PM
I remember really being interested in Overlord, but after reading about a couple of game breaking bugs that would stop you from being able to finish it, I passed. I wonder if they ever patched those...
Vidikron @ Feb 20th 2009 12:46PM
I read about those too, but then I played the demo on Live and was hooked. Thankfully I never hit any of those bugs during my play through and enjoyed the game quite a bit. Unless the reviews are simply terrible I'll be buying Overlord II.
Dirty @ Feb 20th 2009 12:54PM
If my memory serves me right they did eventualy patch it and added some DLC. You should play it, the game was full of win.
Courtney @ Feb 20th 2009 1:05PM
Cool, I'll have to check it out. Should be cheap now. I'm willing to take a chance on a cheap game with possible bugs, but back when it was new and full price, didn't seem worth it.
Jonathan @ Feb 20th 2009 2:58PM
I got to the end of the game and encountered no bugs at all. It really is a fresh and addicting game, it kept me entertained for quite a while. I cannot recommend picking it up strong enough, especially at the price it must be at now.
EndlessShadow @ Feb 20th 2009 12:46PM
Codemasters continues to impress me. I can't wait for DiRT 2
YO @ Feb 20th 2009 12:46PM
Dirt2 finally!!! the first was one good looking game, hopefully they wont add 2many race types which have fuck all 2 do with rally, what happened to having a rally game with just rally stages to drive? cant wait for that one
kompulsive @ Feb 20th 2009 1:13PM
Codemasters really deserves a pat on the back. They've been doing a hell of a job on all of their stuff recently, especially their racing games!
PSN: Erdie @ Feb 20th 2009 1:28PM
Can't wait for more Overlord!
billzilla @ Feb 20th 2009 1:31PM
Another annoying multi-plat article that should have been divided up into sections. If I wanted multi-plat news, I'd just go to main Joystiq.
Guys, please - most of us REALLY don't want to wade through 20 product announcements to get to the one single tidbit of news for our product of choice. Every other 'PSP' tagged post these days is one of these multi-topic pieces and the ratio of PSP to everything-else (or even just PS3) content is not good.
I miss the Fanboy configuration.
Jonathan @ Feb 20th 2009 3:01PM
Get used to it or migrate, they don't care. They do this to save manpower, but I don't see why someone can't take 30 seconds to make an individual post for the PSP/product of choice website. They must be SUPER busy at Joystiq HQ, especially with all that refusing to fix the broken avatars going on.
d889 @ Feb 20th 2009 1:32PM
operation flashpoint 2 ... YES, PLEASE!
cant wait for cti multiplayer to be built in
Darren @ Feb 20th 2009 2:21PM
where is the release date for the F1 game they won the rights too?
Darren @ Feb 20th 2009 2:26PM
http://playstation.joystiq.com/
Tep @ Feb 20th 2009 2:43PM
I can't wait for the second Dirt :)
Discotheque @ Feb 20th 2009 3:39PM
Operation Flashpoint 2 and Dirt 2 will be awesome! Although I don't imagine it will be so successful on consoles that are so COD-dominant (OF2 I'm talking a bout).
I'll definitely give Overlord 2 a play since the first one was hilarious. The writing for that game deserved some kind of award.
Patrick @ Feb 21st 2009 6:23AM
DiRT was an incredible game, won't think twice about picking up the sequel!
