I just bought this game and I have to say it's one of the best space rts's i've ever played. Any idea how much the expansion will cost?

According to the website, about $10. So I'm guessing it's more or less a booster pack than a full blown expansion

Rentaro is correct, it is a mini expansion really.

They have 2 more in the works, and once those 2 are done, they are going to be selling all 3 as a whole expansion.

Fuck yes, Sins of a Solar Empire. Too bad more people can't experience this great game because it's only on PC.

Yes, but simply because it's on a PC, console users don't give a rats ass.

I wish I could get into the game considering how deep it is, but the time commitment to learning the specifics of the game have turned me off considering there is no campaign to teach it. Every time I sit down to learn it, the AI beats me no prob while I'm still figuring out how to play. Its a shame, I want to like it, who doesnt love epic inter-galactic battles, but the learning curve is just too great.

Protip: When learning how to play, set AI to easy and disable pirate raids.

If you've played Warcraft 3, you've played Sins of a Solar Empire. Any claims of it being a 4x game are marketing spiel.

Most disappointing game I bought last year. All the critics were talking like it was the greatest thing since sliced bread, and then it turned out to be a slow-moving RTS with a research tree you could fit on an index card. Finally shelved the game once I found out the counterintuitive way they decided to discourage focus fire.(DPS above a certain threshold causes a unit's % damage reduction to increase. This happens even if the DPS is due to outnumbering the opponent, so trying to clear creeps out of gravity wells turns into a boring attrition slog.)

Wait, has the game been delayed again, not only to Feb 25 but past that? Your last mentioned delay is to the 25th but at the end of the article you mention "the Impulse digital download service-exclusive expansion coming in a few weeks." Feb 25 is in a couple days so I take that to mean its delayed again?
