Looks like Sega is following Criterion's footsteps with its upcoming Yakuza 3. Siliconera reports that Sega is planning eight weeks of free post-release DLC for the game. 29 downloads will be added, ranging from special missions to new items. Supposedly the DLC will work much like Burnout Paradise's free content: simply boot up the game and new content will be added automatically -- no need to visit the PlayStation Store at all!
Sega of America has not announced a US release for Yakuza 3. We're sure that if Sega does decide to localize the game, this additional content will also be available to non-Japanese players.

I LOVE the first 2!!! I really really hope they do the third one (AND the spin-off) in English. That would be fantastic. This game is great for the storyline....little slow at the start, but love it to bits.

Well, I played the demo, and aside from the fact that I had no idea what the girls were saying, I loved it. I hope we get it stateside, but I highly doubt it.

Anyone else noticing a trend with these free DLC games. Its advertising. Both Yakuza and Burnout feature in game ads. Which begs the question, would you rather have a game with paid DLC, or an ad supported game with free DLC?

Well, if it's taking place in a downtown japanese city, there will be no shortage of authentic billboard placement, lol.
Actually, having tie-ins with current ad campaigns could make a setting like that even more realistic.

Well if you played Yakuza 2, you may have noticed a certain kind of coffee Kiryu-san can purchase at convenience stores. Boss Coffee rainbow mountain blend anyone? =D And those Don Quijote stores! Anyway, the demo made me smile playing those arcade games in Club Sega. It'd be nice if there was an actual playable VF machine or pachinko.

I understand that sega want to brought it to the local market first to see how it go with the selling. As financial crisis hit Japan there no doub sega want to sell the game first and keep running the business.
I expect that Sega took there time to bring Yakuza 3 to the US market, and also with expection that the US version will have all the English Sub and Audio.

I really liked the demo. I wasn't too fond of the animations (very jerky) but the game was awesome.
It's the closest i've seen to a real tokyo place. (Besides the random men wanting to fight you)
And you can see the random product placement like ViVi magazine lol.

OMG I really want Yakuza 3 in English. I can get the JPN version but what good is a game if you can`t understand what they say lol. I HOPE they release an asian which support English subtitles or language like they did with Siren New Translation.

Just tried the demo from the Japanese PSN and was really impressed. I'm really hoping for a US release now. The fighting was fun and there seemed to be a lot to do in the game world.
Why is the Yakuza team the only part of Sega making good games anymore?

What's with all the positive comments? Were we playing the same demo? This game is not good at all, and has many "features" that would have fit right in with games from the last generation. Pedestrians fade in and out of view all the time, there are no voiceovers or sound effects when interacting with them, there are old-and-tired invisible barriers to keep you out of areas, the combat is pathetically shallow, friendly "fire" is non-existent in fights, animations are poor, collision detection between player models is extremely minimal...I could go on, but I've had enough just simply thinking about this half-assed attempt at a current-gen game. From what I saw in the demo, this game is bad at best.

I wish we could get this over here in the UK, the last Yakuza game was awesome!
You would think they could add in subtitles quite cheaply and enjoy even a little extra revenue from the West. I would love Japanese audio and english Subs as I'm learning Japanese and could incorporate that into my gaming.
Come on Sega! Japanese version with English subs PLEASSSEE!!!
