not interested.

(speaking for myself) i wanna have fun when i'm playing my
videogames. i don't play videogames to explore my feelings or just
feelings in general. this is probably the one thing that's going to
stop me from playing videogames. videogames are taking themselves
waaaaaay too serious nowadays (imo). it's sicking.

if i wanna feel something, i'll call my girl into the room and tell
her to give me head for like an hour or so. now that's something i
could get behind feeling.

I talked to Jenova Chen before, after he made flOw. He's a really cool guy. I would play this game for sure, buts unfortunately I don't own a PS3. :(

I understand where he's coming from, but it also seems a bit blind. It's perfectly fine to be able to experience both sides of the coin ... and frankly, hearing that he doesn't play modern games is sort of disappointing, even if I agree with what he's saying.

Also, sexy man with a sexy name.

Actually, I'd say the problem with modern games is that the emotions they evoke aren't primal enough. Jenova's games are successful because they touch on very low level, primal emotions. Modern games are very much wrapped up with glitz, or the need to have a new and fresh gameplay concept. Jenova seems to excuse himself from that whole rat race, and focus on delivering a very low level emotional experience.

The thing I like about his games his the way has allowed himself to explore the boundaries of what a game is: is it still fun if you can't lose? Is it enough to simply be an interactive experience? These are worthwhile questions, and it definitely helps the medium to have someone test and therefore define its boundaries.

And it has to be said, everyone who downloaded Flower had nothing but good words about the game, even the blood, shooting, killing online whores. So the mission of Jenova Chen to educate "everyone", is literally accomplishing with his game.

Dude, I think this guy is gonna be the next big developer. He's young, intellectual, and successful. He's in the same breed as Clifford "Don't Call Me CliffyB" Bleszinski.

These guys are gonna shape what this new generation (and probably a few of the ones after) will be about.

I agree, it's great to see all these new names being made in the gaming industry, all with fresh ideas about where to take it. Makes me very optimistic about the future.

this dude made a flash game people. You move pollen around the screen to trigger Prince of Persia flowergasms.

Sheep. Ya'll are sheep. Think I'll make a game where you navigate through a droll industrial complex as pretty colored steam. ZOMG! Or where you play as water, racing through various levels until you evaporate and collect again as a raincloud.

Check out newgrounds. Flash game devs don't need a pretention FF7 name to make good games.

Seems P.T. Barnum was right and you guys are buying the new flavored miracle cure.

Dear God

If i want to be intectually challnged or invoke emotions that are not primal i will read a book, my own imagation triggerd by a few words of print will do more than any game.

So, he's trying to encapsulate emotions created by real games of yesteryear?

I appreciate what this guy is trying to do to the games industry but it feels like he's trying to force his "poetry" down our throats. Whilst games that unintentially (or just hide it better) try to evoke emotions are actually better. I found this game to be a one trick pony. Where games like FFVII evoke a slew of emotions AND smuggle in real gameplay too.

I like this guy he makes a good point. Flower was an excellent game and really did make you feel emotions other games never would. It's just a shame it was so short i would love to see more levels added to it. I cant wait to see what Jenova does next.

Did we play the same game? I am up to my 3rd flower. What emotion did you feel other than, "god this controller wishes it was a Wii mote".

Seriously though. Please, someone describe all these emotions.

anyone else notice that if a comment here is remotely critical of the game, it gets voted down?
I haven't played the game, so I am trying to read what your impressions are. So I'm gathering that a few people like the unique game style, and a few don't care for a simple game "based on emotions".
I think the reason I haven't tried it out is kind of based on all the opinions here... I own flOw and that was fun for about a half hour but i'm just not into that kind of game (even if flower is a lot lot lot better than flow. Cmon, It even adds an "er" on the end)

Id rather pay $60 for a game with 500 times more gameplay like fallout 3 than $10 for a simple game. But that's just my opinion, and i'll probably get a bunch of minuses for it like everyone else. I'm gathering that it seems like the people who bought flower are in denial that it's a so-so game, so they want to stop people from criticizing it
