I had read that the only difference in the new dpad is the number of connections and that only games designed with it in mind could benefit from it. I don't know how true it is, but if they were that phenominal you'd think we'd hear more about it.

I'd just say everyone should go out and buy the new street fighter iv pads. They're great for games that need a good dpad.

I have one they aren't worth it imo. They seem cheaply made and while its working great for me now I have a feeling it will give to regular wear and tear play much sooner than most other controllers.

The fight pad's d-pad is stellar, if you can find one reasonably priced. I was lucky enough to get one from Best Buy before they sold out online, but your best option at this point is to try to find one in a small-town GameStop or something.

Or, instead of dropping money on a brand new controller for SFIV, you could instead use the analog stick. I have, and it works just fine. I have no problems whatsoever in SFIV.

Yeah, the D-pad sucks, but the fightpads aren't really worth the price.

I like using the joystick on the regular controller for charging characters... So maybe its time for a change from Ken and Sagat eh?

I guess I'll work on my balrog until fightpads become available again.

And to the previous commenter who questioned the quality.. You said its working great for you, but not to buy it because it -might- break? Don't jump to conclusions. We'll know by the time the second release comes out if the first start breaking or not.

I've been trying to get some of my cards off of my Xbox account forever now.. I've gone to the billing.microsoft site before, but all it lets me do is view & edit the current cards, there isn't anything to actually remove them.

Try this:

1. Go to Xbox.com
2. Sign in with the gamertag that's attached to your credit card
3. Click on Marketplace.
4. On the My Account drop down menu, go to Manage Payment Options.
5. Next to your credit card number there should be an Edit/Remove option.

i don't know why but i have had no problem when it comes to using the d pad i use it exclusively when playing street fighter. I know i am in the minority in this it must be because i learned how to street fighter on a genesis which had a similar controller.

well just my 2 cents

I actually had to remove an expired credit card's details this weekend. I searched online as for how to do it (I wrongly assumed you could do it via the 360 itself) and saw someone else mention the billing.microsoft.com link - I logged in and removed the old details within 30 seconds.

I'm based in the UK though, so not sure if it's (currently) location-based...

@pat

Actually a lot of people learned to play games like that on older consoles lol I played Street Fighter on SNES :) The d-pad is royally pwnt on almost all my controllers (I have 4), the only controller it seems to work on is my red one.

What you said about Halo 3: ODST not having any exclusive maps contradicts what was said in this article.
http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/07/halo-3-odst-will-ship-with-all-24-of-halo-3s-multiplayer-maps/
So which one is true?

Oops, you're right. There will be exclusive maps in ODST. Still, you won't need a Halo 3 disc to play them.

From their help:

Removed
The payment method has been removed from your account and the payment method is listed for historical purposes.

It doesn't look like there is a way to make it disappear.

If you want to fix the d-pad, go to Extreme-Mods.com or another store and buy one of the XCM controller cases labeled as having a "new" d-pad. After moving the innards into the new case, I found the d-pad responded with a sharp click. I have never had another problem with it.

As a plus, if you can manage a little soldering, you can make your buttons light up. It's really a worthwhile, low risk mod, even for a beginner.

Wow, thanks a lot. I was busy fiddling around with that billing microsoft site and found it right away on Xbox.com

The link is: https://live.xbox.com/en-US/Flows/EditCreditCard/SelectPaymentInstrument.aspx

There's a Edit and a Remove to the right of the cards.

Bleh, nevermind. It won't remove the card that's selected. Everything else is fair game.

Fucking ridiculous how many hoops you have to jump through just to remove a credit card.

Interesting that you say you have no more questions to answer, even though you have not addressed the question I posed over a month ago in numerous emails.

What is up with the Mobile Joystiq[Xbox] site? Why don't all of the articles show up there? When will it be fixed? I love reading you guys while on the go, but only getting one or two of the new stories (cross-posted stories do not show up on the mobile Joystiq[Xbox] site) stinks!

To the guy having problems charging the controller when using HDMI:

I think I know what your problem is. My setup has HDMI from the 360 going to a receiver and then to my TV. If I turn on the 360 before switching the receiver to the correct input, the 360 never boots up and just sits idle. I have seen a 360 hooked up over HDMI directly to the same TV as mine and it starts up right away even if it is not on the right input. I have had similar setups using component and have never seen this happen.

I surmise that a 360 hooked up with HDMI to a device that is not actively communicating with it (i.e. the having the 360 plugged into a receiver that is set to the wrong input is no different than having it unplugged whereas the TV detects the signal regardless of input selected) believes itself to be disconnected and hence does not bother powering the USB. I am willing to bet if you switched to component (I wouldn't want to do it either) or run the 360 straight to the TV (but how am I gonna get my Dolby 5.1?!) you will be stuck with the problem.

My advice, buy a quick charge kit.

The lousy d-pad was the first (okay, second) thing that annoyed me about my shiny new 360. I figured people were just exaggerating. No, no they were not.

As for the first thing that annoyed me, that would be the system noise. I was already in shock when I turned it on, then I stuck a disc in...Yowza. Nice engineering, guys.

Oh well, I'll get used to it eventually.

For game suggestions I would suggest Kung Fu Panda. I don't know what any co-op option is for it as I don't have it myself.. but it is supposed to be kid friendly I hear and would probably be fun for him.

I have a controller with the revised dpad, it is better - but it still is horrible.

This is one of those mistakes where i don't even know how they thought keeping it on the controller was a good idea like the shape of the PS3's triggers that make no logical sense at all.

I (being European) managed to nab myself one of the green pads along with the limted edition green play and charge kits. And honestly, i haven't noticed a thing... There is certainly no major difference between it and my standard white one... Except of course that it looks ten times more badass.
