I got into the closed beta before this, so I'm already in. Played it one day, hated it, and am now playing Battlefield: Heroes instead.

Third post on here... Apologize in advanced but:

Finally got in, downloaded it, installed it, and restarted my web browser. Log in, and I have to wait in the queue again (not nearly as long as the first time though.)

Does this sound right? Not worried if I have to wait... just would like to play so I hope I am not doing something wrong and just waiting for no reason.

Thanks!

Why don't they just release the installable Quake 3, isntead of this browser nonsense? The ONLY reason I can think this is kind of neat is that you can play Q3A from any computer, but really, how often do you have the desire AND the ability to play Q3A when you're not at home? I'd say, barely ever.

Instead you get to wait in a huge queue to play a game that's 10 years old. Admitedly, it's a great fucking game - one of my all times favs. But if they just released the full version for free instead, there wouldn't be any of thie queue nonsense.

I'm sure it'd be great for impromptu lan parties, but yeah, otherwise it's rare to actually need this. Kinda neat though.

Like most things iD software does, it's not so much to improve the gameplay, but more to push things on the technical side. There hasn't been an "In browser" game this technical before, and that's why they made it.

I dunno... "because they could" doesn't really justify it to me. :)

I don't mean to hate on it or anything but I just don't see the point.

Got in! It's... Quake 3, for better or worse. It's still whoever gets the good weapons first and arse holes camping spawn points but it's still hectic fun.

My thoughts exactly! It is quite fun, and rather neat to have it all in browser. Just curious how this "novelty" feeling of in-browser will last though. heh.

PunkBuster sucked in 2001 and it still sucks in 2009. Thanks for QuakeLive, id Software but no thanks until you drop PB.

P.S. Yes, that means there will be 2 PB services running if you install QuakeLive.

Hell, the counter won't even load for me. Just a white page. I think we broke it. But of course... let's all say it together..."It's just a beta."

Click and drag across the entire page like you are highlighting text. It shows the counter after doing that.

I was in on the private beta a while ago. Username is capt_carl and I have no idea when I'll be able to shoot some people in the face. I used to be a beast with the Railgun back in college when i played Q3A like every day.

Is this actually working for anyone? I thought it was just that I was using Windows 7 but I switched over to two other computers on both XP and Vista and I can't even play the practice match. I guess I'll just give it another try in 2 weeks or so.

I was in the private beta a few weeks ago, but got stopped at the Windows requirement. So much for a game that you could just load up in any browser and play...

Taggert. I think they need to seriously expand the servers, cause there is a 17, 000+ line right now.
