If your one big complaint with the MotorStorm series is that your caveman brain is frightened by the nigh-photorealistic graphics, you're in luck. Sony just announced at Destination PlayStation that the franchise would be headed to the PS2 and PSP with MotorStorm Arctic Edge, which brings the series to the "breathtaking yet lethal and unpredictable setting of Alaska."
Developed by Bigbig Studios (the house behind the perfectly entertaining Pursuit Force), look for Arctic Edge in fall of this year.
[Update: We just added the above trailer but, lest you be confused, there's no way on Earth that's gameplay footage.]

Looks great - if the in-game can look this good (and fun) then I'm in. Loved the origional on the PS3.

Maybe I need to take a night off.

Hey why fix what ain't broke? The PS2 is STILL selling well and is Sony's best competitor to the Wii. Plus with those massive losses, they'd might as well still support the PS2 to rake in some dough.

Then again, all the resources they are wasting on the PS2 could also be used towards making them profit from the sales of PS2s. What about that? And considering PS2 is making money, why stop its sales?

Let me just say that the Pursuit Force guys are the absolutely best choice that Sony could have chosen for this game. Pursuit Force 1 & 2 are some of my favorite PSP games just because they're ridiculously fun.
If Motorstorm: AE can do this, I'm going for a day one purchase.

When have we ever been able to trust a trailer released by Sony? They're usually bull-shots. It's unfortunate, because some Sony-published games have very good graphics, but you wouldn't know it because they don't show it, and when they do show it, you can't trust it because it might be a bull-shot.

Wow Evan you never cease to amaze me with your constant Sony bashing. It's true that Sony is the only company in the industry that uses CG trailers to debut a game and the only one that touches up screen shots ... not. It's common practice and for you to single out Sony just shows your irrational hate and bias.
Your Sony trolling is starting to border on pathetic. I'm not going to group you in the same category as Sprinkles (yet) but you are well on your way to that legendary status of hater. It seems there isn't a thing that Sony can do to appease you so just give it up already and jump off the bandwagon. You won't be missed.
The day that Sony announces some major support for the PSP you still have to bash them. You are acting as if Sony came out and said that (obvious debut CG) trailer was actual gameplay.

Theres bits of gameplay elements mixed with CG, you didn't need to rant to tell us that, we can clearly see that with our own eyes, then again, have you even played a game made by bigbig? Have you tried pursuit force? That game isn't far off from how this looks, and after playing the two pursuit force games which had damage, car explosions and none stop racing action, I can't for the life of me see why anyone would be worried as to whether this will live up to the Motostorm name or not, stop stressing over nothing and telling us stuff we already know.

+1, Evan!
I saw some Killzone 2 gameplay. Graphics on the stationary objects are incredibly detailed and the lighting is absolutely breathtaking, but the Helghast move like retarted mutant zombies.

Am i the only one SUPER pumped for MotorStorm? God i love the franchise so much and its just awesome what there doing. Desert, Island, now Alaska. This series is so rad and I cannot wait to tear it up on my PlayStation Portable now.
Its also great to Sony showing up all complainers and giving the PSP some real refreshment. Stuff like this is why i am with Sony.
Also, is Bigbig going to work in conjunction with Evelution studios? Whats up there?

Not gameplay footage? Why, whatever could you mean, Joystiq? I mean, when has Sony EVER used CGI to show off gameplay footage?
This is obviously rendered with the hugely awesome Emotion chip set. Can't you see the detail of the driver's face inside the car as he takes a perilous curve?

I don't know for which platform I'll get it though... >.<
I have a 60GB PS3, which means I'll be able to play it upscaled on the big screen...
I have a PSP, for on-the-road brutal off-road racing...
Argh. :|
We'll see when they announce the features of each game version.

Hey Bigbig,
I have Motorstorm and Pacific Rift for PS3, both of which I feel are fantastic. But I steer using the Sixaxis controls. Can you PLEASE add support for Neo's Motion Sensor?? Please... I don't have a clue as to how difficult this would be, but if you did, I can almost guarantee it would not only sell a ton more copies, but probably a ton more PSP's. And yes, I can steer with the joystick, but I would much prefer not to. It's just somehow very cool to be able to steer like you would naturally expect to steer. And with the iPhone being able to do this, it really ticks me off. Because the PSP is a way better platform, for everything... So please, please, consider it.
Thanks! -PapaGanda
