New Hannah Montana PSP bundle includes Lilac PSP

SCEA is showing a new initiative to cater to young girls at its Destination Playstation event today. The company has announced a new PSP bundle to be released in July, containing a PSP system in a new Lilac color. The bundle comes with a Hannah Montana rhythm game, a UMD of episodes from the series, a 2 GB Memory Stick PRO Duo, and some stickers!

In addition, Ubisoft's Petz line is headed to PSP in North America later this year, allowing players to "create and care for cute, furry pets chosen from many different breeds of dogs, cats, horses, hamsters, dolphins, tigers and bunnies." The likely first release: GameStop shows Petz Saddle Club coming this September. This series may help enhance young players' impressions of the PSP, by reminding them of the Nintendo DS.

Again, we don't really get to see these in the states and I don't understand why. As far as I know Sony has only released the piano black, white, silver, red (god of war) and blue (madden bundle) psp's in the United States.

I hope Sony will fix the screens in these. On my trip to India in December while stopping at Heathrow airport, I checked out the PSP-3000s at some electronic stores and the screen is a definite step back from the 2000 series, there was some sort of interlacing effect especially noticeable when moving around in the XMB.

I love the color, but I can't help but laugh. My niece loved Hannah Montana stuff and would absolutely have made her dad buy this for her - like, a year or two ago. She's moved onto Jonas Brothers now that her hormones are kicking into gear.

Sony fails, in this case. They waited an awful long time to try to bank on the Hannah Montana stuff, and while I'm sure they'll sell plenty of these, they would have sold even more if they'd have struck when the iron was hot.

Seriously, though, that color is gorgeous. Too bad I already have one of those Darth Vader PSPs.

I just realized that I don't think I've ever once seen a girl with a PSP. I've spotted a handful around (especially in the bay area) with DS, but none with PSP. Interesting.

I sit right next to a girl with a PSP at work. We play Everybody's Golf 2 (aka Open Tee 2) on our lunchbreak.

That's cool. Certainly there are girls out there who own them; I just thought it was funny that I've not yet seen one.

Don't think it'll majorly turn around the PSP's fortunes with young girls though: DS already has like a zillion games with Z in the title, and a Hannah Montana game too.

ok, i like the color. the stuff they include is ok. but this is a no to me. they just had to have hannah montanna!

How is it the miley PSP? Is the start up sound in ching chong? Is the screen distorted so it looks like it's chinky eyed?

So long as there isn't any kind of markings on the back, I'd be tempted to have this. The included UMDs would go back to GameStop as soon as I got the box open.

I just had to check that i wasn't in the PSP section. I love my PSP's but the first was too shmeary and the second like a venetian blind, i hope the PSP4000 gets it right with a quality screen and more funky colours.

Sony is gonna launch a new PSP Rock Band bundle on June 9th too, with 4GB memory and School of Rock movie. But this pack still comes with the black PSP 3000 system.
