Red Resident Evil 5 Xbox 360 bundle: it's real!

The Resident Evil 5 Xbox 360 bundle is totally a real thing that people will be able to buy! We kind of assumed that the bundle, containing a red system and a copy of the game, wasn't just some rumor, but now we have confirmation that is about as official as anything can be: an Xbox 360 told us! Check your spotlight -- it should be the second-to-last card.

The bundle features, of course, a red system and wireless controller, as well as a copy of the game (which stars Chris Redfield!) It also includes a black, wired headset, a 120GB hard drive, an exclusive Resident Evil premium theme, and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix! All this for -- oh, we don't know how much, actually, nor do we know when it'll be available. Toys R Us listed $399 for the price, and we're inclined to believe it.

Update: Now it's even more official...er! Major Nelson has confirmed that the Resident Evil 5 bundle will retail for $399 and posted some high-res photos for your analysis.

Damn, it is pretty ugly. Why does the PS3 always get the nice special editions even if they are Japan only? (MGS4, FF7, RE5, Yakuza 3...All damn nice!)

Yeah the LE Metal Gear PS3 was super sexy. Gunmetal everything...too bad it was only a 40GB with no BC whatsoever. I always found that strangely ironic considering that..you know..there are 3 other games and they're PS1 or PS2.

Popfrogs: ALL PS3s can play PS1 games (hence downloadable titles on PSN). It's just PS2 BC that's an issue.

Had it been a deeper, bloodier red, it would've looked more worthwhile.

It's ugly? It's a red 360. Basically you're saying the color red is ugly. Quit hating just for the sake of hating.

I agree, the console is ugly. It's not hate for hate's sake. I would love to buy a 360 Elite with my tax refund, and this bundle is tempting, but a red console would not look good in my entertainment center.

I may just pony up the extra 10 bucks and buy the elite and RE5 separately.

Ace, the red they used is ugly. I'm not hating on it for any reason other than that is not a good looking console. Now, if they did a nice gray or something, that might be cool looking, but the circus colors need to be avoided.

There's not even a Tricell logo on the red 360. :(

What you may perceive as ugly, some may perceive as beautiful. When this is available on Amazon, let me know.

@John: Yeah I should have clarified, I have a launch 60GB, what I meant was it was stupid to make a special MGS PS3 that couldn't play PS2 games since the MGS series (on playstation) spawns 3 generations.

The US 80GB bundle, while not as sexy, did have software BC so it could play the whole series.

If you only had it for a year then it should be free. The RRoD warranty last for 2 years.

Rentaro, the rrod warranty is three years. I just had a 3 year old unit rrod last night and sent for the coffin this morning.

Somebody should tell that 360 that red is really not its color. If it leaves the house looking like that, all the other consoles are going to make fun of it.

this is what i figured it would look like, a color scheme just like the limited edition official red controller. i can see alot of people on here dont like it for whatever reason but i dont think it looks that bad actually. i wouldnt buy one (mostly because i already have a white one) but it would be an option maybe if i was in the market for one.

why one basic color, why not some design?

For some reason, this thing makes me think of the leather jacket Michael Jackson wore in the Thriiler video.

They're real, and they're spectacular.

I really cannot think of any other colors that are 1. that much of an eyesore and 2. go so horribly with the 360's "atomic green" lights and color scheme.

Please someone think of a worse color.

You say that NOW, but come Christmas time it'll be a fantastic compliment to your holiday decorations.

They won't clash so bad when the lights turn red; then it'll just be very loud, which we should be used to.

Actually lilac looks okay (my brother does simple case mods for his friends and his girlfriend has pink and lilac controllers - they are kind of nice).

And brown, while not pleasant, is less painful on the eyes and honestly goes better with atomic green.

It's actually not that bad, I kinda like it; and I'm one of the ones who really doesn't care what color the system is. Though, a blue 360 would be kinda cool.

That's a good deal if it really is all that for $399. I wont be getting another 360 because of it... but it is a nice bundle indeed.

Good deal, but ugly as hell.

Personally I love it therefore have pre-ordered it.

Figured I can flog my existing 360 (as its out of warranty) and the hard drive for what, £100 therefore making it new elite in fantastic red, RE5 (meh) and SFII.
Don't forget the NXE theme download as well...

Am getting one no matter what , now i will have a four consoles . sweet . the colors they pick are great , org. white , halo edition ,elite black ,now an re5 red . sweet
