Valve has officially revealed the second new Scout weapon included in the upcoming Team Fortress 2 update. Called the Force-a-Nature, the double-barreled shotgun packs a wallop so big it will knock back any enemy it hits, even the Heavies. If fired in the air, it will also knock back the Scout himself, essentially giving him a third jump.
Don't get too worked up though, like most other unlockable weapons in the game, the gun comes with a caveat. The Force-a-Nature only has two shots -- makes sense, given it's a double-barreled shotgun and all -- and it reloads slowly.
Additionally, Valve has posted a poll asking players to choose which Scout update item should be released first: The Bonk energy drink, the Sandman bat or the Force-a-Nature? Cast your vote here. You'd better do it quickly because the update is expected to drop sometime today!

The main reason I havent is because I've been having trouble starting it up. it keeps doing something stupid and my screen flashes between the desktop and the TF2 screen until I turn off my computer. crazy

How do you manage to play "twice a week on some nights"? That's some mighty impressive temporal skills you got there. :P

Chris, that happens to me occasionally too. To stop it, I press Ctrl+Alt+Del then open the task manager, which keeps TF2 minimized, then I close the task manager and restore TF2, and it works fine after that.

When it's all said and done TF2 will be regarded as one of the best, if not the best, fps games ever. It's well balanced, plays great and has gotten some awesome post release updates with more to come.
400hrs. between sold, demo and medic alone.. it's a fun game...

It's not just you having issues. After a patch a little while back, I get grapical problems and crashes. Annoying as it has been problem free for me since the bloody beta test.

That happened to me too, but only after I tried playing MUGEN, which also did it. The Task Manager trick Robotic Earthling mentioned worked for me. I had chalked it up to some Win7 beta weirdness, but I guess that's not the case if it happened to other people.

Well you could try d+ the windows button, or maybe you havent allowed tf2 to get past the firewall? The whole situation sounds weird.
@WorMzy: well that what happens whe you got an ocarina of time lol.

Have you tried updating your video drivers? Or if they're already the latest, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling them?
I wish I had some other ideas, but all I did to fix mine was reboot. Hasn't happened since. And the fact that it happened to me in MUGEN too makes me think that it's not a game-specific problem.
One other really annoying thing to try is to run MSCONFIG, disable all of the Startup items, reboot and see if it craps out again. If it doesn't, you enable startup items one by one until it starts flashing again. Takes forever, but it'll help you find whatever program is screwing with your computer, if any.

My game will occasionally do this. What I have to do is do a Ctrl + Alt + Delete and it will stop the flashing thing...and then you can just use Switch To to go into the game. If it's the same problem then that's what fixes it for me. It doesn't happen very often but every once in a while...it's weird.

I would guess at a sapper that just palatalizes the target, but doesn't damage it. However it would be a lot harder to remove.

I really should double check what I click on while spell checking. But this is a video game blog, not my CV, so fuck it.

Would be nice is the Sapper RE-PROGRAMS the machines to act FOR the team of the Spy...making the Engineer kill himself as well as his teammates

If your not careful, you can get killed by your own sentry, happened to me once. Man the spy has so much potential.

I don't get how this is an advantage really. Generally as the scout I'm trying to get close so the shotgun does more damage. I don't want to push the enemy away.

If you can triple jump behind the enemy, that's a huge advantage, and you might only need 1 shot then.
Also, I can't wait to push people around corners into waiting sentries, or off of cliffs.

I thought it would be dumb until I realized that it gives you another jump --one that counteracts the removal of a jump with the sandman. Also, it gives them the same ability that soldiers have had since release: rocket-jump. Overall, I think this is an awesome weapon, and will make for some really interesting gameplay, but I'd still pick the sandman before this.

I actually hadn't played since before the Heavy update. I started playing again this past weekend and unlocked the Sandvich and Natasha in about an hour.
Been a while since I played Scout. Guess I'll be bonking it up tonight with all of the hordes of other scouts.

Better have increased damage.
I could manage by using the Pistol as a quick finisher, but given my playstyle I really wouldn't make much of the extra abilities.
On the other hand, it will definitely appeal to a lot of people and is much better than the other two unlocks.

What is an unlockable? How do you unlock these things? Is there a link about what you have to do?

I wasn't clear, I mean how much time does a person have to spend to get an unlockable?

The acheivements are at the bottom of this page:

You have to complete 11, 16, and 22 to unlock the weapons. Usually the first weapon is very easy, the second is not too bad, and the third takes quite a while.

you need to mail your UPC to Valve, and they will send you a skeleton key which you will use to open the lock on your computer. After that you need to defeat the keeper of the secret garden, help Sophie with a tough choice and melt the ice wizard. Then the items you want will be unlocked.

On a related note, Santa Claus has delayed Christmas until Q3 2010. You know, to provide a more polished experience.
