We got this in during the early Christmas season, and I enjoyed it immensely. Granted, it was because our shitty store DVD player played it back at about double speed and would advance several minutes at a time in some spots, leading to odd phrases. I then had to re-watch it in a different DVD player. Ugh. The staff made it about 5 minutes before I just turned it off. Embarrassing.

From the YT video description:

"I think it's cool how it's both sexist and derogatory to men and women alike. :)"

That about sums it up.

GameStop still seems to be stuck in the "games are for nerds" way of thinking.

I guess I'll have wait until I get in front of my pc. Unfortunatly, it's 50/50 on being able to watch a YouTube video on my iPhone. Sometimes they don't stream properly. I guess it's server volume.

I liked the video because I thought Ima Smartone was pretty cute. Does that make me sexist?

No, it just means you have low standards, cuz she's damn ugly! LOL Amirite?

She's therefore not qualified to be in a video meant to elicit amusement and/or customer service training.

See what I did there? I made a superficial judgement about her appearance to evaluate her job performance and her human worth. Now THAT'S sexism!

But seriously, she's pretty cute. But stupid. Nothing at all to do with her looks she's just stupid I mean the video's stupid I mean I wanna bang her no I don't yes I do I mean I'm not sexist ok bye.

This video should be ashamed for justifying someone's decision to study a degree in Womanly Studies.

I now realise why so many Americans want to punch Gamestop employees. The guys at GAME in the UK never pester me unless I want them to, and they are pretty great at talking about games. The guys in the store near me are avid gamers, so it's not hard to talk to them. If any women are in the store though, I think they have to revert to this sort of crap, although GAME never does such stupid things as that as far as I know.

I'm a Nintendo fanboy, and I wouldn't try to sell Wii Play to someone like in that video. As far as I'm concerned, it's great for a £5 game, but I have it because I wanted an extra Wii remote, not the opposite way round. I doubt even Fernando would disagree. For a video that seemed to be trying to be feminist, I'd have been insulted to have been a female gamer. Lets face it, some guys of the age those women were also have no idea what is going on when they go into Gamestop.

I was thinking that about GAME too. I've never been pestered thankfully and I often have a quick chat about whatever I'm buying at the desk. The video was hilarious by the way XD

Further proof that all corporate sponsored attempts at wittiness are doomed to abysmal and embarrassing failure.

I wonder how they do that time freezing effect? Must've hired the team who did the special effects for the Matrix.

Poor man's Lara Croft, HA!

Also, guys? Pretty sure she's trying to do a Jane Goodall impression or whoever the chick was with the gorrillas. Not croc hunter.

And also, both of my gamestops are pretty cool. we don't usually pester the customer unless we think they'll go for it and enjoy talking about games to gamers and non-gamers alike. It's the asshole customers who think that either
a) they know more about videogames than we EVER could because they read an online blog or
b) treat us like shit because we're just trying to work for a living and we happen to work at a corporation.

I'm not sure if people's experiences are extremely different from mine, but I've been in several Gamestops on opposite sides of this country and never felt pestered in any of them. Someone coming up to you and saying, "Hi how ya doing? Do you need any help?" etc. is not pestering. It's being polite. If they keep repeatedly bothering you then either you look really in need of assistance or they do suck at their job (or just want to get rid of you...I've worked in retail so I've been in that position once or twice haha).

With the umpteen billion dollars they're making a year, they seriously can't afford to hire a few people who know how to make a decent training video that isn't patronizing to everyone who is, and isn't, their customer?

I love how they show that first employee practically running the woman over before he starts talking to her...geez, no wonder she ran away I'd run too if someone came right up to me before I was 5 feet in the damn store. I hate when store employees do that...give people some space to figure out whether or not they need/want help.

Just wanted to say for those who didn't notice, this was shot in a Barnes and Noble, probably because the company saved Babbage's Etc in the mid 90s (by purchasing the company) and who now owns the majority of GameStop's public stocks. But I still don't see how that relates to these things called women and video games >.
