Sony Bend, not Soyn

It is a truly impressive title, though. Pushing the scope of what a handheld game is supposed to be. It'll be interesting to see how it is received.

I have the demo for this game and it's very impressive. I'm not sure if I'm going to buy it or not but it's another great PSP game. It's going to be a hell of a year for Playstation owners on all fronts.

I don't know that I liked it better than Syphon Filter Logans Shadow for the PSP but it's pretty close to it in terms of quality and controls.

I've got to say, I'm much more interested in this than I ever was in the generically acceptable PS3 versions. If they can pull of a two-stick third person shooter without two sticks, I'll be hella impressed.

Resistance 2 is off the chain. You wouldn't know it because you wrote it off as generic before you ever played it.

I wouldn't know because I wrote it off as generic after playing Resistance:FoM, actually.

I hear the multiplayer is awesome, unfortunately I don't like playing multiplayer.

Resistance 2 is a pretty solid game Tuna - though the MP is the better part of it.

From all of the hands-on previews I've read, they are all praising Sony Bend's new FPS controls for this game. They say it's a wonderful workaround for the lack of a second analog stick, and it doesn't make the game feel too easy.

As I understand, you have a transparent aiming "box" as part of the HUD in the middle of the screen. You press either the face buttons (/\, X, [_], O) or the D-Pad (can't remember which) to perform a soft-lock on any opponent that falls between the box's range. Then you have to manually move over and aim at the opponent.

This sounds great, but I definitely need to demo this game...but mostly just because I want to ;P

I really didn't like the first Resistance that much. It was an OK game and decent for a launch title but nothing compared to Gears Of War which has also released around that time. However, Resistance 2 really has the total package when it comes to it's feature set. It has a really fun campaign, best co-op I have ever played in a FPS and enough compeitive features to satisfy anyone urges. There isn't any one feature that blows your mind away but taken collectively as a package deal it offers more for the money than anything on the market. I would say it's one of the must have titles for anyone with a PS3 along with Metal Gear 4, Little Big Planet, Killzone 2, Uncharted, Warhawk, Ratchet And Clank and Heavenly Sword.

Don't let Resistance 1 be the reason why you write off R2 - R2 is better in every way imaginable.

I never said I wasn't going to play it, I said that it was generic (like 75% of the plot seems like it was directly ripped off from Half Life,) yet acceptable (as Insomniac is a respectable workhorse of a company.) I'm not hatin', I'm just more interested in how the PSP version is handled.

I'll say this much without spoiling anything about the ending. The game leads on a path and throughout the entire you game you think there is one particular thing that is inevitable. However, the end completely flips it on it's head and is one of the most realistic endings in gaming history.

You're all wrong and Resistance 1 is better.
better health & weapon System. Better Boss Battles, Story mode co-op

They're both Buggy as hell, but only acceptable for the launch title. R2 should NOT have as many bugs as it did, i think more or at least worse than R1 (EX:I had to restart many time b/c AI teammates would get stuck or 'triggers' never happened to advance the level, etc)

I don't like online mutliplayer but the R2 cooperative is pretty cool, but its pointless offline so they shouldn't have bothered.

(and im kidding, obviously i think my opinions right but it doesn't mean your wrong but flame on anyway)

I played the multiplayer on Syphon Filter twice.
While the aiming with face buttons is fine for single player, I never felt competitive online.
And people with PS3 are going to use the DuoShock with Retribution so I doubt the multiplayer will be much fun for me.

They have explicitly stated that DS3 support is locked from the multiplayer. However, that might not stop hackers with PSPs running CFW.

"Activated from the R2 options screen, PSP Plus! allows you to play Resistance: Retribution using your Dualshock 3 wireless controller. We remove aim assist and increase the challenge level of the game. We even support the vibration function of the controller. If you’re playing at home and want to experience Resistance: Retribution in an all new way, this is it."

That is pretty weird eh?

The demo is nothing short of superb, I only just got into the game and yet I was hit with the two of the biggest of the bunch, there is an odd moment or two, but its expected from a PSP game.

Overall, I liked it, and the robot boss I was stacked up against was awesome, controls are fluid, action is constant and graphics look solid, couldn't be more impressed.

what was pitiful was that the 2 big dudes were WAY harder than the robot boss because you get an auger for the boss battle. the thing did WAAAAY more damage than the LAARK and it had a shield too. that's majorly cheap.

Damn, no PSP, but I'm fearing that I'll hardly use it like my DS, but a couple of titles like R:R and I'll be on.. with LBP : PSP, etc..

That and emulators, I might have to go for it sooner than later.

Generic - a word discovered somewhere in between the launch of Halo 3 / CoD4 /GTA4 and that of Resistance 2 / Killzone 2. Prior to late 2008, it was ok for shooters to use the same mechanics as earlier iterations, with no innovativeness or fresh elements, and they would still end up with perfect 10/10 scores, but suddenly, one day, evertything changed.

me, i dont actually have a wireless network set up at home so the only times ill be online is when i go to the local public library. even then, their wireless networks isnt very consistent or fast, so i dont know if i will pick this up just for the single player campaign. i do have a wifimax though, but not sure if it works for infrastructure - had it sitting around configured for mhf2 since i can remember.
ive only played the syphon filter demos and kind of enjoyed them. but at heart, ive always been a fps fan - until my laptop broke down and i got myself a psp. medal of honor: heroes is decent i guess for a psp fps (reminded me a bit of wolfenstein: enemy territory), but it lags terribly and the visuals are mediocre at best.

pretty sure there will be not bots for this game (skirmish mode)
i think all games featuring multiplayer should also include skirmish mode though...
its what kept me playing medal of honors heroes1 and not the second one since it didnt have skirmish. i always like a little fragfest on the go, but most of the time im not actually near a free wifi hotspot...
