The only use for WM+ that would really make sense for this game (other than interactive melee dismemberment of course) would be to do what HVG planned to do (but nixed from The Conduit) - make it so that you don't need to rely on the sensor bar to point.

It drops with Wii Sports Resort. Now, when that is remains a mystery that was only intensified today, since they announced a bunch of games through June, and WSR was supposed to be a Q2 title

The interesting thing is that a bunch of Q2 games (like Tiger Woods 2010) are already confirmed to use the device, so the speculation is that it still has to be releasing in that time-frame, but unlike everything else on that list, NoA really has no say about when Wii Sports Resort arrives (the big 1st-party games on that list are all either out in Japan already, or developed by Western studios)

Iwata is doing a keynote at GDC. I'm betting we'll get a release date for WM+ then.

Wouldn't that be funny if the motion plus didn't really 1:1?

Watch any video featuring it, it doesn't.

Besides that though I think an on-rails game is a good choice for your first attempt at WM+, it means theres a lot less controlling with the controller going on and room for more 'accurate' motion sensing.

It seems like it would be a good experimental title for the WM+.

"Watch any video featuring it, it doesn't."

you mean the videos we have showing a game that probably was in-between Alpha and Beta stages that showed it working?

A better use of motion+ would be for the gesture recognition that the original wiimote was supposed to be able to do. It seems like in it's current state the wiimote can only tell if you are accelerating in any given direction. Circular motions are the most advanced it can discern. I would hope that motion+ would allow for mapping more intricate gestures like distinguishing various letters drawn the air, though I question the practicality.

At least we can hope for better sword fighting then wrist flicks.

Remember when handcars where cool and everybody had one? EA needs to make a handcar game that uses the motion plus 1:1 control.

I'm so pissed to think I'll have to be buying, ANOTHER 4 peripherals in this motionplus. Why? Bloody hell Nintendo, I can bitch and moan about some of the moves you've met lately, I'm almost ready to put my foot down and stop purchasing any of your products. After, Dsi and GTA...

Wait for a game that has 4 player motion+ support to come out before you buy four motion plus'... though its still kinda annoying

... Or 8 new peripherals. Won't we need new guns that will fit the remote and motion plus?

Man, I loved RE4 on wii, it made the game 10 times better for me. When RE umbrella chronicles was announced with RE4 controls, i was ready to put money down, then it went rail shooter. I suppose the RE4 controls broken promise made me want it less.

When I first heard about this, I was sure it was gonna do RE4 controls...but no, ANOTHER rail shooter.

Thanks guys...but I liked it in the arcades when non cursor aiming was the thing. Now? Cursor pointing just doesn't do it for me unless I get to control the character.

Several of Sega's lightgun games for Wii support non-cursor aiming. Given that MotionPlus should (maybe?) make this one even more accurate, maybe it will also include the necessary calibration feature to make that work?

As for what they'll be using it for, maybe so that it better handles offscreen moves? So if you turn offscreen it'll have a better idea of where you are. Alternatively, maybe they're adding some fancy gesture stuff? No idea.

(And yes along with everyone else I was disappointed when Dead Space Wii was announced to be a rail shooter. But if it's a good rail shooter with sufficient playtime, I'll still get it.)

EA is making a bad move by turning this into an on-rails game, but at least they are trying. The visuals so far look stellar for a Wii game, and it looks like it could be a good bit of fun, but seriously, an atmospheric first-person shooter mixed with horror elements? Major missed opportunity. I'm interested in what sort of gameplay you can add to an on-rails shooter with the Motion Plus... and it'd better not be enhanced waggle.

Eh, I despise on-rails. It's why I hate old games. And most FPSs and platformers.

Every on-rails game that isn't StarFox 64 can just fuck right off. But I do love Dead Space...

Should certainly add to the immersion of it all. It's an ideal choice for a horror title

Hopefully the Motion Plus is used to make the Wii Remote act more like a light gun...I know that Sega's games have some calibration thing and you can hide the cursor, but it just doesn't feel right...and you always gotta be standing in one place at a specific height for it to work correctly.

'course, I don't know how the Motion Plus would make it any better...I just hope it does.

After RE4 Wii, making Dead Space Wii a lightgun shooter is probably going to be in the Top 5 Dumbest Things From a Developer this year.

i will never justify spending $50 on a rail shooter. ill use ebay and pick it up for $15-$20 in a year or just rent it and beat it in a weekend.

Its a lightgun game? WHY??!?

I love the odd rail shooter, but seriously, the Wii can manage other kinds of shooter too. They just need to use controls similar to RE4 and make it like the other versions of deadspace.... sigh...
