Lost Planet 2 no quick 'n' dirty sequel, says Capcom
We could have easily gone for a more vulgar headline! Here's what Christian Svensson, Capcom's vice president of business development and strategic planning, actually said about the upcoming co-op shooter, Lost Planet 2: "Takeuchi's approach was, you know what we're not going to sit back on our laurels and just shit out a sequel, we're actually going to take it up five notches. We're not going to under invest in this, we're actually going to over invest in this, and we're going to build it bigger."
Speaking to VideoGamer.com, Svensson relayed Lost Planet 2 (and Resident Evil 5) producer Jun Takeuchi's overall vision as being one that keeps all of the original's best qualities in, while dismissing the lax ambitions of lazy sequel design. You might even catch a whiff of 2007's critically acclaimed Call of Duty 4, which Svensson says was a big hit among the Lost Planet team. "So I think you're going to see some influence from that sneaking in."
So, to sum all this crap up: Lost Planet 2 is promised to be the shit, but won't be shit out.

I can't wait! Lost Planet is awesome, and this looks like it'll be even better...
Jose @ Feb 26th 2009 7:44PM
Is the past tense of the verb "shit" not "shat"?
yo Naturale @ Feb 26th 2009 8:11PM
Yes, "shat" is a past tense of the verb "shit."
Does that make him a "twit" for writing it, and you a "twat" for pointing it out?
Oh by the way, punctuation always goes inside quotations.
Glass houses... yada yada.
Luthyr @ Feb 26th 2009 8:31PM
Actually, punctuation does not always go inside the quotation marks. I believe this is only true for commas and periods. Other ending punctuation depends on how the quotes are used, and in this case, I believe he used them correctly.
yo Naturale @ Feb 26th 2009 9:25PM
I looked it up Luthyr... and it would appear that you are correct.

I thought about it, and Jose very well could've been asking a genuine question. In which case my response would justifiably be construed as harsh. I sincerely apologize if that's the case.
However, if he wasn't... my initial point stands. Why?
Why point out grammar mistakes in a forum? What's the point?
It reminds me of something the Sean Bateman character says in Bret Easton Ellis' "The Rules of Attraction."
"I won't go to bed with a girl if she can't or won't have an orgasm because then, what's the point? If you can't make a girl cum why even bother? That always seemed to me to be like writing questions in a letter."
Jose @ Feb 26th 2009 9:45PM
Sorry, it was rhetorical. I just like the word: "shat." I liked the twit, twat thing you did there; it was excellent.
yo Naturale @ Feb 27th 2009 3:14AM
I like certain words too Jose.
'Cheers' to that.

Civilized conversations on the internets?!?!
PREPOSTEROUS!!!!
NoughtSoClever @ Feb 27th 2009 11:19AM
Correcting grammar is much more satisfying than conversing in context.
Discotheque @ Feb 26th 2009 7:45PM
He can talk it up all he wants but the real question is
....does it have canoes?
DeoWulf @ Feb 26th 2009 8:42PM
You guys are trying so hard to make this succeed as a meme, aren't you.
ryan @ Feb 26th 2009 7:53PM
Very cool that they are fans of CoD4 (I think RE5 devs said they were Gears fans, and look where that got them). That sprint feature will come in handy for sure.
smellytim @ Feb 26th 2009 8:06PM
not quick and dirty. it is clearly taking them a while, so it will just be dirty.
CH3BURASHKA @ Feb 26th 2009 8:28PM
Sounds too reassuring; obviously Lost Planet was no Halo, but I'm sure that it will be fine. Not excellent, but serviceable; I don't need your trip-over-heels reassuring to tell me that I will pick it up (or at least rent it).
Also, when it DOES bomb, they will seem like complete dicks.
BIGGEN (LIVE-PSN: BIGGEN1103) @ Feb 27th 2009 12:25AM
bomb? the first one didn't bomb by any stretch of the imagination, so why do you assume the sequel will? oh, that's right, because it's no Halo. thank god for that.
toonces @ Feb 27th 2009 10:57AM
What's your definition of bomb? LP Extreme Condition sold over 1 million copies. That seems successful. Colonies was an expansion of maps & weapons & I have no problem finding friends & matches playing online. I don't think LP was ever marketed as a Halo killer, so take your hands off your keyboard & put them back on the nuts of Bungie & continue sucking that delicious Halo protein.
Ahh now...you're comments are not excellent, but serviceable...be reassured of that.
Levi @ Feb 27th 2009 3:33PM
I know I'm swimming upstream here, but I liked Lost Planet more than Halo...
Story was cheesy, but the game was just more fun to play to me. Multiplayer was underrated, and had a lot of room to grow.
Kristopher gonzalez @ Feb 26th 2009 8:40PM
Announce it for the PS3/PC already!
Longhorn4Life (PSN MariusElijah) @ Feb 26th 2009 8:49PM
GDC all will be known.

Mike @ Feb 26th 2009 9:57PM
I saw the trailer, and 2 looks light years ahead of where 1 was graphically. This might just become a must buy for me.
Rodrigo (revenge of the ps3) @ Feb 26th 2009 10:23PM

modified @ Feb 27th 2009 1:36AM
You had me at 4 player on-line co-op.
umm....hello??? @ Feb 27th 2009 9:10AM

Johnny Neat @ Feb 27th 2009 9:16AM
Only think I couldn't stand in Lost Planet was how enemies bounced weightless when killed... Totally destroyed the immersion.
Levi @ Feb 27th 2009 3:35PM
Really can't wait for this game. I will eat up all details you guys relay on the game!! :)
CABALLOTE @ Mar 1st 2009 1:46AM
Looks waay better than killzone 2 and it has... 4player co-op! Real co-op unlike most ps3 games.
