Punch-Out!! uppercutting Wii on May 18

Nintendo just announced a May 18 release date for Punch-Out!!, giving Little Mac plenty of time to find a pair of diminutive gloves just his size before he waggles back into the ring this Summer. The game is among the more hotly-anticipated efforts in Nintendo's coming lineup, promising a return to form as everyone's favorite underdog throws down against the likes of Soda Popinski and King Hippo. According to sources, both are downing crates of Jolt and cheeseburgers on their road to get back into fighting shape.

If it's Wii-mote controls only I won't be buying it. This game requires too much precise action to let the Wii-mote guess at what I want happening.

Really? That's the only way I'd play it. If I wanted to play a boxing game with traditional controls, I'd get Fight Night 4 instead.

I would hate to lose because I didn't shake the Wii-mote correctly. I just picture myself playing the NES punchout and realizing how insanely difficult it already is when it has perfectly accurate controls.

That's so true. I hated Wii Sports Boxing because of the inaccuracy on higher opponent levels...

If you've used the Wii mote long enough you'll realize that it's not the most accurate device in the world. And never as accurate as a button press.

I like Brawl, Fenix, but I think it's rotten that people are downrating you for expressing your opinion (and you weren't a jerk about it so there's really no excuse for people to wail on you just because you're not a blind Nintendo slave.)

Punch Out!! will be awesome with or without waggle. But if only it had wii-motion plus... Maybe it's a bonus feature for later?

Wii Sports Resort is conspicuously absent from this list, though Nintendo might think that game big enough to save an announcement for a later date, so Motion Plus is probably off the table at this point. Also absent is Sin & Punishment 2

All that I ask is NO nunchuk controls. Please. EVERYONE has 2 or 4 wiimotes, just make the first and second "player" wiimotes the right and left hand. Nunchuck is worthless for punching. Motion plus? Even better. All I want out of the wii is 1:1 punching.

It could still have motion plus, even without the Wii Resort coming out. Whatever team develops Punchout probably has access to the technology, so it could still be implemented even if the hardware isn't available at launch.

The only thing that coould make me even more happy about this game is if it has some kind of WiFi playability so I can play against a friend.

wow all these comments and no one mentioned the curse of nintendo release dates yet???

usually release dates from nintendo = the date plus another 3 months delay

I can't believe people on here would want the new punch out with regular controls,

motion controls is the appeal of the wii, not analog sticks.

I'll stick to my 360 for non-motion games, thanks.....
