I'm not sure what to think of this. THQ is a publisher of some excellent games (Relic, Gas Powered Games in particular are some of their better partners), but they're also not ones to shy away from licensed crap. On the one hand it's unfortunate that some people have lost their jobs, and on the other hand I think it's good for the company to let loose some of its extra baggage. It's pretty amazing that even with several high-profile games under its belt (especially on the PC, where presumably costs are lower), they're still reporting huge losses.

Well, everyone is posting losses this day. You're right that places like Relic and Gas Powered Games are putting out quality content, but I think that's almost the extent of their quality partners. Sure there are probably a couple others, but so much of what THQ has been doing lately is licensed crap, the majority of it I would argue, so it is not surprising that this is happening.

That being sad, its sad to see more people losing their job but I guess from a business perspective this could be a good example of "trimming the fat" as they say.

Brian Farrell (THQ's CEO) said that the 600 jobs announced included the 250 THQ let go in November and the 100 THQ let go from wireless. So the 24% of the workforce ins't really accurate.
