picked this up yesterday as it came out on the 26th here in aus, its nice to be playing halo again but it just seems like a real 'dumbed' down RTS

Only 5 chapters in though so i'll see how it goes

ps nice to see aus get something first for a change!!!

How are they going back to Harvest after the Covenant glassed it?

The game takes place way back in the beginning of the human-covenant war. "Glassing" the planet does not mean they blow up the planet. It means the surface of the planet is destroyed. Imagine hundreds of nuclear bombs blowing up across the planet and you get the idea.

As I recall, at the end of Contact Harvest the Covenant begin glassing the planet, which to my knowledge means that they are circling it with their capital ships burning the ground to such a high temperature that everything burns except sand/minerals, which melt into glass. This permanently ruins the surface of the planet so that nothing is left, yet in the trailer there is clearly stuff left on the planet surface. Thus I was wondering if my recollection was correct.

The stuff that remained is probably the Forerunners left behind. The Covenant are interested in the artifacts which is why the humans are going back to find out what.

I always got sucked into the story of most games. Especially Halo. I read all the books and played the games, and would try to make sense of it all. I wonder if there will ever be some closure to (Halo 3 SPOILER) what happened to Master Chief at the end of Halo 3. Technically it could continue on from there about MC trying to find a way back to Earth (or other colony planet).

I just have to say for the record that I am really annoyed by those stupid pop-up advertizements that appear in Joystiq's video player. I don't care if you advertise, but could you keep it off the playback, please?
