Wii-A Sports: Tiger Woods 10, Grand Slam Tennis releasing first on Wii

EA Sports announced today that both Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 and Grand Slam Tennis will release for Wii on June 16, with versions for all other platforms following at later dates. That commitment EA's made to producing as many Wii games as it does for PS3 and 360 combined? Looks like we can also bet on some cross-platform titles hitting the Big N's machine first.
As previously reported, the two games will support Wii MotionPlus for near 1:1 motion control. In the announcement, EA Sports referred to the titles as being developed specifically for Wii; we'll find out more on what that entails when we play them March 12.

I don't see how MotionPlus is going to improve this situation. In fact, in the case of Tiger it's more likely to accurately replicate the misery of golf.

well, simply put, Golf is expensive. Clubs, green fees, etc. You also have to sign up for a tee time for most places and gather up a crew to keep you company. Imagine having to pay once a year to have access to multiple courses whenever you want. No buying the latest clubs, no waiting for a time slot, etc.
Another thing I hate about golf (and Im guessing this is what you commented about) is the length. It just lasts way to long. What EA did with online play last year was having simultaneous play. It allowed multiple players to finish 16 holes in a lot less time than the average televised coverage.

Actually, my main complaint about golf is the drunk psychopaths who go to my golf course, but I guess you can only get that level of retardation on Live.

@moptimus
16 holes?

well, seeing how Nintendo will announce a date for WSR at their Spring Media Summit, this makes sense. Tiger sells the most on the Wii and one of the things Im sure a lot of people associate with the Wii is the tennis game from Wii Sports. Im sure they will advertise these a lot (especially the little-known Grand Slam Tennis)

Its not as much work to program and create art assets for the Wii compared to the 360 and PS3 so thats why the Wii versions come out first.

Dear EA
Please stop making rehashed sports games every year
and since I know you won't
Please don't call it [Insert League] 10
10 doesn't sound right
just use 2010
please

If they pull it off right, it could be the definitive golf sim for some time to come. However, Motion Plus is still uncharted waters, so you can't know

wow, i never knew NO U had a reverse.
joystiq has really shown me a different perspective.

This is awesome, my N-machine is actually starting to get some use lately (COD:WaW, etc.).
It's nice to have it upstairs on the old bedroom sdtv. It's a lifesaver for when my wife wants to bogart the living room HDTV (50" plasma), where my PS3 and 360 are hooked up to.

I don't know where that info came from but I was at the Tiger Woods 10 Community Day.We were told by the EA folks themselves that June 16th was the release date for all platforms.
SSenator @ Feb 27th 2009 11:47AM
After reading the article on EA Sports it says that Grand Slam Tennis will be out before the other platforms but doesn't say that about Tiger Woods.
Sorry if any confusion.
BTW-The Motion Plus seemed to work well for the Wii on Tiger Woods.I thought it gave the game a closer to real life experience than what I had seen before.

But the real question is, will Tiger Woods walk on water ?
