BioWare and Dark Horse release first issue of Old Republic webcomic
If you're chomping at the bit for scraps of information regarding BioWare and LucasArts' upcoming long ago and far, far away MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic, you'd be wise to turn your attention to the first issue of the game's Dark Horse-produced online comic, "Threat of Peace." With writing from BioWare's Rob Chestney and art from JSA Classified illustrator Alex Sanchez, it's higher caliber work than your usual webcomic fare. Sure, it's a scant three pages long, but with future installments dropping every two weeks, it should prove an invaluable resource for the KotOR-uninitiated who can't tell their Kashyyyks apart from their Coruscants.

Wookies don't work very well in a crowded environment, besides - how many wookie jedi's do you know about? Seriously, help me out here.

I know of the guy I created in the SWG trial, WookieJediMan, then abandoned because the game sucked.

Yeah, I liked that comic the first time I saw it -- the first five minutes of The Phantom Menace.

I cannot convey enough how uninterested I am in another Star Wars MMO. Why couldn't it be as single player or co-op RPG instead?
Snowblind @ Feb 27th 2009 12:03PM
I don't see the problem with it being an MMO, the Star Wars universe lends itself perfectly to wide spread player co-operation (not quite as well as Star Trek, but still..) and if it remains as single player and story focused as they've been saying, it should be great.
It's the monthly fee that bothers me, if there's any kind of subscription, I won't be going near it. I'd rather just be able to purchase add-ons at my leisure.

IMO SW is better than ST because the universe is bigger in time but not space. Thus you can fly all around the Galaxy and see the cool parts but you don't need to have the film characters around. ST is defined by the main characters from the T.V. shows while SW has entire eras without them. Delta quadrant is a lifetime away while you can go from Bastion to Hoth in month or so.

The problem is all too apparent in the names though:
star WARS (Yup thats what its all about)
star TREK (Exploration, discovery, etc...)
To me Discovery and exploration makes so much more of an interesting premise than war.

It's all about...
star GATE - Making sure you keep the thing oiled or it will squeak like a bitch every time you come home.

can you call 3 pages of a comic and issue? I'm pretty sure I can get more out of an Amazon sample than this. And yes, it was pretty much the first couple mins of the Phantom Menace.
The new Star Wars MMO that is coming out is an automatic fail for me already. I want an open world like SWG is/was than the single player experience this one will be.

"it should prove an invaluable resource for the KotOR-uninitiated who can't tell their Kashyyyks apart from their Coruscants."
Is it scary that I CAN tell the difference? :-P

is it me or does that picture have some racy text associated with it?
It talks about rims and penetration. I guess they are targeting a more adult audience.
