BBFC doesn't note racism in submitted Resident Evil 5 scene

The British Board of Film Classification does not see an "issue around racism" in a particular Resident Evil 5 scene that may be considered inflammatory. Kikizo asked the BBFC's communication head, Sue Clark, about a specific scene where a (*minor spoiler warning*) white, blond woman is dragged by a black man and "impregnated" with the virus, in a way that evokes racist imagery.

Clark explains that the version of the scene submitted to the BBFC didn't have a black man dragging the woman. She explains that if the scene submitted were not the same as the retail version, it would be "illegal under the terms of the VRA [Video Recordings Act ]." RE5 producer Jun Takeuchi told us in a recent interview that when players finally get their hands on the full game, he believes "they will see and understand what it is all about; that there is no racial element to it at all."

If people want to see racism, they'll see it. Some of the very people who act as if they hate racism and want it to be gone secretly love it and help to flame it. I'm looking at you Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. If racism was completely gone, they'd be out of a job.

You're absolutly right. The people that scream racism are the same ones that promote racism and divisivness with their hate filled retoric. They tell everyone they are victims and don't have to do anything but sit on their ass until society gives them their due. Which keeps people down, and in turn they blame that on everyone else.

And if Sharpton can extract something that can be construed as remotly racist, he'll demand your money to make amends. Ask General Motors and Walmart among others.

I do believe people make the situation worse, but racism still exists, its only right you stand up for yourself and not allow others to treat you like shit, but thats when its JUSTIFIED, not everyone is out to get you, I think some people have a chip on thier shoulder so feel like venting it out on the most mundane things like getting made redundant even though they were there the shortest amount of time, racist! Being demoted because they didn't abide by a rule, racist! Room is filled with members of your own race, RACIST!!

I agree that sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, but with statements like this ignore the fact that our (American) society is based on structural and embedded racism, which is neither easy to identify or eliminate.

The fact is, in the south, white women on plantations would often seduce and have sex with slaves or black workers and if their daddy or husband found out, they would scream rape. That is how black men got the reputation of preying on white women. That is why many black people would find this racist.

To be fair, the impregnation happens off camera. Also, zombie impregnation occurs by reading the victim selected poems of William Yeats and tastefully caressing the victim on the shoulder.
