I actually like the controls
it takes some getting used to
but once you do, they feel great
COD and RFOM feel arcady in comparison

I seriously don't get this whole control issue, I play the game on the default setup and I don't have a single problem.

60% of the people complaining about these controls uses are just whiny COD4 fanboys, the other 39% maybe not be COD4 fanboys but simply refuse to get use to the controls and the rest 1% have a genuine problem. I'm extremely frustrated at these whining people because I remember there was a lot of whining for certain things in warhawk, unfortunately people got what they wanted with their warhawk whining and it essentially F***ed up the game. I don't want that to happen with KZ2

i dont mind the speed of the controls as such but I think they could do with a bit more acceleration, maybee different speeds to represent the different weight of the weapons could be kinda cool too i.e. pistol moves fast, MG slow etc

The controller issue really irritated me at first, but after some gameplay, I was able to get much better quickly. I do have to admit, it takes a lot of getting used to, but think about it in real life: If you're carrying a big gun, you can't immediately start turning -- it takes a moment and you start off slowly, turning faster as momentum is increased.

Then again, Resistance 2's controls irritated me at first too.

I do wish there were some way to better change the controller setups. I'm using Alternate 1. Even better would be for FPS manufacturers to standardize on a specific control setup. I still catch myself pressing L2 to sprint instead of L3.

I like the controls. I haven't heard any complaining about the controls. Personally I think Killzone 2 has had the least amount of problems upon it's release. Don't change the controls. If people can't get use to the controls then they should switch to Alt2 which is the closest thing to COD4 (Which is what I use but.), so theres nothing to complain about. People will complain about everygame. No reason to change controls though.

I love them too, the only problem was that i needed to boost the sensitivity. There is a problem with the analogs where the aim speed doesn't scale with how much your pushing, but rather its like a 2 speed switch. Thats what I noticed however...

I can't believe people can't apreciate the design of a game, as far as the controls. Now they're forcing GG to follow the spoiled gamer's complaints and change an awesome feature to the game.

I really hope they don't change the controls too. I found the "sluggishness" to be a welcome change, and in fact, in my experiences, helped precise aiming in certain situations. Small flicks of the analog stick didn't move the crosshairs halfway across the screen as in some other FPS games. This became very beneficial especially with the sniper rifle and when shooting from behind cover.

That being said, I understand it's no COD4, but I really don't think it was meant to be. I can understand people being upset about it in MP, but the controls aren't the same in multiplayer. They intentionally made the game less "weighty" for MP so you do get some of the fast paced turning and so forth. Again, it's no COD4, but it's still good enough. I guess some more options like acceleration and dead zone adjustment wouldn't hurt anything though.

I still think people should just deal with it. Sometimes you can get too caught up with "It's not as good as game X" or "Game Y did this really well, but this game does it differently, so it sucks." I really think GG was going for a more realistic feel with this game, and gamers can often be too stubborn to try something new.

As one of those darn PC fps gaming elitists, I have to say the controls are really the only thing I dislike about Killzone 2. If Guerrilla has any intention of fixing the dead zone or speeding up the ability to turn around, I'd be happy to hold off playing the single player campaign.

If you actually bothered to play it for say, a day, then you will know that you get used to them and after that it feels like that's how it was meant to be played all along. So quit your whining and just play it.

P.S It was never meant to play like Halo or COD, for that, there is Resistance

I made it pretty clear in my post that I'm accustomed to PC gaming and that's my personal preference. I did play KZ2 for a day and being "used" to certain controls doesn't make me enjoy them any more. Just like I prefer the way cars handled in GTA: San Andreas as opposed to GTA4. It doesn't mean the game is bad, just that it's not what I consider to be great. Constructive criticism is a far cry from "whining" as you put it, and the very fact that Guerrilla IS considering adjusting the controls is proof that there's a fair amount of people who feel the same way.

As some advice to any PC gamers out there, I heard they're coming out with a revision of the FragFX ps3 mouse at some point in the near future. A friend with the first FragFX says using it with KZ2 isn't quite as responsive as a PC, but a far cry better than the Dualshock3 controller.

I think the controls are fine and they add a new challenge to the FPS genre. I feel that when I get a kill, that I really earned it. If they make it to easy, then it will be just like every other FPS out there.

I can agree with a lot of what is being said. But I really have to disagree with a lot too! I am for the game feeling a bit different than most shooters. At first I complained about the very slow movement of the gun, the sensitivity seems way off. I am now used to that, and don't mind it so much. I really didn't have any expectations coming into Killzone 2, so far it has exceeded my expectations! This game is freakin' sweet!

The one problem I really have is the crouch button. Either it needs to be put somewhere else on the pad or it needs to hold. I don't like having both fingers on the trigger buttons. It's frustrating as hell to try and duck behind a barricade and hold the L2 button the whole time while popping up and pressing the L1 button to zoom. As you can tell I like the Alternate 2 button layout. I find it frustrating with every other layout too though, so something should be done there.

I like the Killzone 2 multilayer. I suck at it but I still like it. I don't normally get into FPS online play but for whatever reason I enjoy this one even though I typically finish near the bottom at the end of a game. Honestly my kill to death ratio is putrid.

I'm surprised that people really are complaining about the controls. I really just changed the zoom button to L1 and was fine. I don't know what it is but I really just fell in love with em. I'm also quite enjoying the "weighty, slower, more tactical first person experience," as it was claimed. I think it's a break from anything else we've seen out there so far. My firend stated, "Well it's just not Halo." I responded, "for me, I have no problems with that."

Is anyone else enjoying the game as it was meant to be?

I use the default controls too. I think the game feels fine. I don't play much FPS multiplayer so I can't comment on whether or not another game does it better but I will say for sure that Halo was always to loose feeling for me.

Well you know that Halo really just feels one sided, like it's the same over and over every single match. But with Killzone you really feel in the battle with all the explosions and chaos. It pure mayham, and I love it. Constantly changing. Idk, could just be me though.

To voldawg:

I'm not exactly sure. I know there are quite a few control schemes, but I quickly found one I liked and stuck with it. If you can't find what you're looking for in the game right now I guess that's what is gonna be in this upcoming Killzone 2 patch.

To Edge:

Did I ever say I hated your beloved Halo controls? And it looks like we can talk because I've beaten all three halos on Legendary. In fact, I'm a big fan of halo 1. All I said was that Killzone was different. So stop trying to prove that any one set of controls is superior. Obviously your Halo control scheme fanboat has sailed anyway because as mentioned, if you even read the article, Guerilla Games is looking into fixing controls, so chill out.

I love the controls, people especially gamers, should deal with the fact that not all games are just a different skin of an old game. It makes the fire fights within the game more fun. Yeah sometimes i hit some one with the shotgun first and it doesn't kill him but the hell, its fun, i actually try and hide and look for cover instead of doing rambo moves.

That's the world of trophies for you. They don't want people cheating on them. It's silly. I have 2 PS3's one at my house and one at my parents house and I hate having to have separate game saves on each one. Hopefully they'll come to their senses and unlock that like they did with Motorstorm, I think.

It should have nothing to do with trophies. Look at Burnout Paradise. This game was released about 13 months ago with copyable save files that were locked to your PSN account, but not your PS3 console. I've been moving my Burnout save back and forth between my house and my brother's all year, never losing any progress. So now a year later and everyone is starting to lock down the save file. I have to play all my new games twice.

After playing the demo, I was somewhat use to the controls cuz they were similar to KZ1. But I think offering more control mapping issues might help. I think there's already 6 presets, so what more can you do to the controls button mapping? As for the bugs, I think Guerrilla should have a launch a bigger open beta testing as like Insomniac did with Resistance2. Also it was a shame the demo only featured 1 map, should have included a multiplayer map as well. Either way I'm looking forward still to getting my copy this week.

Just to let you know, the demo is the very first level of the game. It stays easy for the first few levels then the difficulty ramps up pretty sharply. The AI is smart and there are plenty of enemies to fight off. Some levels make you feel like you're in an impossible war and the Higs never stop coming.

Oh GOD. The final level was sooo brutal. I have probably killed over 100 Higs in one run yet we were still getting flanked hard. I found out that we had to "push" through the defenses, but I'm disappointed to say that I ran the whole course just to get to another checkpoint because there was a non-stop onslaught of Higs. You kill one, two will come out.

Btw, I WAS pissed with everyone about the controls being so sluggish and weighty, but when you get used to it, it's a pure joy because it feels "real", although it took me until the last parts of the game to get used to it :p. It was very hard for me to adjust because my usual sensitivity settings is very to moderately low/slow and somehow the controls have a wild combination of slow and fast.

as far as i am concerned, if you dont like the controls, there are plenty of options to tweak them. Its supposed to be a slower paced game than Halo or COD, and those people bitching are only doing so because they think (incorrectly) that it should play identically to them. Its a different type of game and intended to be so, which it is all the better for imo.
