Why? It's not like it would have made a difference.

Have you even seen how the MotionPlus works?

I haven't. I heard it was the shizzle. Does it have an IV that attaches to your vein and nerves, shooting you full of drugs that make for a more frightening and immersive experience, despite lacking graphics powerful enough to make a truly frightening ambience?

Dunno why Robert got voted down... motionplus wouldn't make any difference in a lightgun game.

The Wiimote's iR pointing is already really accurate, its the motion controls that sometimes leave a little to be desired, and the two are essentially different systems.

Anyway, any chance of me buying it went out the window when it became a lightgun game.
(i love lightgun games, but the wii already has a lot, and its just laziness on the devs part)

"Have you even seen how the MotionPlus works?"

... Have you even seen how rail shooters work?

The Wii doesn't lack the graphics to make things scary any more than the PS2 or Gamecube. Did you ever play RE4 on the Gamecube?

Well no, I didn't either, because I hated that controller with a passion. But it LOOKED the same as the PS2 port.

Creepy atmospheres have been created since the days of the NES. It's actually possible to scare without floating point calculations and new shaders.

I'm a 360 fan by heart, and my Wii gets less use than the 360. But come on, that thing about graphics is bull, and you probably just said it to incite something like this anyway. =p

In the last couple of issues there have been some journalistic mistakes, and they never mention them again in the following issues. Thanks for keeping yourselves honest.

You know, maybe they were going to use it, and then they were like, "Joystiq says its a bad idea, lets axe it." So they said they were just talking about two different titles.

Behold, the power of Joystiq.

I mean, it's a rail shooter, it being there would have been nice, meaning it was going to be more than just shooting bad guy after bad guy, but it's not like it would vastly improve IR targeting.

It's probably going to be more than just shooting anyway. Really, though, the precision of motion plus wouldn't be necessary, unless they had planned on developing a fairly extensive hand-to-hand combat system

It's a light gun type of game so unless the motion plus was supposed to be used to enhance the accuracy of the Wii-mote to make the experience more fun and appealing this news doesn't really bother me.

I love the game! it's very well crafted and thought out! I only hope that this game lives up to the franchise's current quality and potential! If you haven't checked out the prequel animated movie Deadspace:Downfall you all should check it out as well! I wonder what part of the Ishimura incident is this game going to take place in?

Making the controller include Motion+ from the get-go would have led to delaying the whole system and spending a lot more money in R&D to get it that way. The released the Wii as-is because it was a gamble of epic proportions to chuck out a console only twice the power of it's predecessor. If the Wii had flopped, it would have wasted more money if they put in motion+ initially.

The problem with hype: if nobody had talked about the MotionPlus possibility, people would still be ecstatic about a Dead Space on Wii. But now since the possibility (which never existed in the first place) has been removed, people are now having a bad view of Dead Space for the Wii before we have even played the game.

As far as Wii shooters go, I thought that Metroid Prime was already pretty awesome.

You're kidding, right? MotionPlus didn't make a blind bit of difference - everyone immediately lost all interest in Dead Space when it was announced as yet another f***ing rail shooter. MotionPlus was like, oh great, so after we've sat there shooting but not actually controlling the character for the last 10 minutes, now we can *really accurately* twist that door-handle. Nobody cared. Now it hasn't got MotionPlus, and nobody still cares.

Not saying it won't be a good rail shooter, if it is good (and lengthy) I'll buy it, but it's not exactly causing a great deal of excitement any more, even when people still thought it had MotionPlus support.

And yes Metroid Prime was awesome, which is probably another reason people are disappointed that Dead Space is a rail shooter...
