Play war or "play ball" -- this week's releases are highlighted by Halo Wars and the start of (virtual) spring training. (Alas, with the East Coast blanketed in snow, real baseball seems a long way off.)
Also this week: HAWX (PS3/X360), Empire: Total War (PC), Sonic and the Black Knight (Wii), Peggle (DS), and the resurgence of multiple -- yes, multiple -- PSP releases.
yea cause that would clearly cause the sony fanboys to wither an die...sarcasm ftw lol
YO James..or anyone else readin this..can you confirm World In Conflict Soviet Assault comes out this week?? i've looked on gamestop..not even a listing for pre order an some places just say March 2009. thanks in advance! been waiting for that game for a long time! get at me about it...knights543@hotmail.com
I don't think that'll ever happen, either it coming to PC or being good on PC. The gameplay and controls revolve entirely around the fact that you're playing it without a mouse; that's why it's as simple as it is. Bringing it to PC, and forcing it to face off with juggernauts like Command & Conquer or (if it waits long enough) even Starcraft 2 would be a bad move.
Besides, I played Halo Wars demo at my cousins house. 2 races? WTF? LAME! They just did it for EZ balancing, just make an equal unit with a different name on each team.
I expect a nice review on MadWorld next week outta you. I liked Secret Rings, but got too annoyed with issues in the control scheme to go more than 3-4 hours in.
My reasoning is the same. I'll go ape for Sonic, but MadWorld comes first, and either way i'm only about halfway through Fire Emblem, so another week with that game will put me very close to the end
A busy schedule for a Nintendo fanboy, who'da thunk it?
Depends where you live, apparently. Some places in the US got it last week, but here in Canada, it's supposed to ship tomorrow, in stores Wednesday. I hope it's a decent game.
I got Eat Lead on Friday, it's a really fun game! But yeah, it does release on March 3rd normally. I am surprised Joystiq didn't put that anyway since THEY ARE RUNNING THE GAMES ADS ON THEIR SITE AND MAYBE THEIR ADVERTISERS WOULD LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW IT COMES OUT ON MARCH 3RD.
I've seen one a couple times and I think you're right. It's one big CG trailer that doesn't look anything like the gameplay. I'm not even sure it mentions that the game is a RTS. Hopefully people look into it first, but you know lots won't and it's those, the don't-own-any-other-games fratboys, that are going to be mad.
The top four all got voted down. Odd, not all of them were deserving. Doesn't seem to be a big week for releases. Guess we are getting into a slow season. I'm sure Halo Wars will do good. Introduce a lot ppl to RTS's but they don't really do it for me. I'm tentatively excited about Mad World, and yeah, where is Matt Hazard? Next Week?
Oh and maybe hawx. I need to play a demo, i'm hoping its more simmy than arcadey. I may but it if it is. Like one day, when I have a better job, and beat a list of games I own and haven't played first.
got Halo Wars last Thursday.. so nothing this week.. besides, ordered Lost for £6, and Mega Drive collection..
Halo Wars is alright, a little too simple, being able to team your units, instead of ringing them, to pressing, Spartans are very fragile too, the AI buddies are slow, though on legendary, I spent 20 minutes just training troops to defend my base while it was being attacked, while the buddies just sit there, & the enemy just expands & wipes you or them out.. the game also has a difficulty setting that tries to work out you skill level through each skirmish. I'd likr to be able to build more troops than 30 or 40. I found it dissapointing on C&C3 where you maxed out your troops quickly too
I broke down and got Killzone yesterday, but since I can only play about 2 levels at a time before getting motion sick, Halo Wars will give me something to fall back on when my eyes start to bleed. Barring that, there's always Persona 4 (now that I've gotten past the initial 4 hour bore-a-thon of hitting "X" and reading text.)
$30 for a game that's going to be addicting (and portable!) and eat up 40+ hours of my time is better than $60 for a game that's decent and only eats up 10.
gamefly just shipped me halo wars, so thats cool. I think I might play that before Killzone. on a side note the Killzone ads are freaking gorgeous. Hawx will have to wait.
If Halo Wars was like the CGI advertisements shown on TV, I would actually think about buying a 360 again..
But.. based on that screen shot, I wonder how many people will be confused/angry once they realise they just bought a micromachine version of their beloved Master Chief?
