The Street Fighter franchise doesn't exactly have a gigantic fan base to push into movies anymore, I'm wondering who thought this would be a big hit anyway? Back in it's heyday, sure, this would've been big. The days of the mass appeal of arcades when SF was ubiquitious are over and have been for awhile, which in my opinion means they've now only got something of a small niche audience left.

I don't think the studio was banking on this being a big hit. I think the budget for this flick was $50,000,000 so I guess they were banking on a modest return. They might get it on international box office sales, and passionate cosplayers or something.
They also didn't heavily advertise it, I guess the studio thought it was a piece of shit and why bother throwing more money at a horrible product anyway.

I watched a pretty long bathroom fight scene online, and the choreography sucked. I don't get it, I'm not the biggest Street Fighter fan myself, but I think, like a lot of people, I would have shelled out the cash if it had a well known choreographer and a decent story.
I could write a decent Street Fighter movie. The history is pretty rich, and the characters, though corny as hell in the new one, all have pretty interesting back stories and what not. Its really a shame. Surly it didn't have a budget of 50 mil. This movie has probably prevented what could have been the birth of a pretty sweet franchise.
On the plus side of SF universe, I'm finally getting pretty damn good at the game. 47,500 in the world with over 900 BP's. Of course I still only play online with one character, because I'm a pussy who likes to win. One day I may graduate from ryu to ken, and if I ever get around to unlocking him, then I may move one to akuma so I can do massively cheap supers and ultras and win matches in just three attacks.
Also exciting news is that a woman holds fourth place in the world on the 360.
Sorry, off topic, but I'm getting less and less opportunities to complain and/or brag about my growth in street fighting. The link was a really cool scene. Titties!

Well, I contributed my share to that $4.7 mil, and I'd do it again if I had to. The movie was seriously worth every penny I spent on it. Was it a good movie? No, not at all, not even close. However, I did spend the entirety of the 2(ish) hours laughing my ass off. Hilariously bad is still hilarious.
