Do you know the exact number of Trophies you have ... off the top of your head? We know how tedious it is loading up your PS3 every time you want to remind yourself of your in-game accomplishments. Thankfully, this is now a thing of the past. Once PlayStation.com updates with its new Trophy tracking features, you'll be able to check your PSN level, Trophy count and lists for each individual game from anywhere with internet access.
The update is due to go live tomorrow. The functionality will be very basic at launch, allowing you to simply check your own Trophy stats. After a later update, you'll be able to compare your Trophies against friends' and "look at your Trophies in new and interesting ways." We're hoping the info will be made available for third-party applications and websites to access at some point in the future, too.
In the meantime, check out our gallery below to see what your Trophies will look like on PlayStation.com and visit the PlayStation Blog for a video walkthrough of the new site features.

200.
Not that I'm a trophy whore or anything (I like having extra goals, but I could give a crap about gamer levels and shit), I just remember because it's, you know, 200. :P

It would be fun to see which trophies I didn't have so I could chase that trophy without starting the ps3. It would also be fun to see other friends.

Very cool. I'm wondering what the highest trophy earner out there has, too. One of the guys I friended is level 12 and 36%. He has 100% on 8 or 9 games, and nearly that on a lot of others. I'm not THAT much of a completionist, but it was rather inspiring to see. Of course, it makes me wonder if he has a job and family to take care of, or is in grade school with tons of time.

I think it will be nice for them to broaden the trophy function.Sometimes its fun to be able to compare a list with your friends to see how much better or worse they did in a game. I know I was playing with someone who had a rank of 12 and I thought it was pretty impressive against my level...of course, I only can game for a few hours here and there these days.

It's about damn time. It's good that the people at Sony are finally doing this but they sure have taken their sweet ass time with it.

Hopefully they'll get custom soundtrax for all games. But then again, that may be too much for the ps3 to handle.

@ FeaturePreacher
PS3 is more than capable of custom soundtracks, it's up to the developers to implement the feature though. Heck, it can even screen cap now.

Motorstorm: Pacific Rift would like a word with you. I use it for that game all the time. And I saw a video on YouTube showing street fighter doing the same thing. On the PS3 though, it's more like custom playlist.
I'm sure new games comming out this year will begin using that feature. But it's not something that can be done overnight.

I don't care about trophies for one reason - no one else does either. Gamerscore is awesome because everyone has their scores in their forum signatures and all over the web. Sony needs to create a 'gamercard' and allow people to hotlink it or load data from it so they can show off their score to friends.

Anyone else get the sense that the Playstation trophy system is a complete knock off of the x360 gamerscore and achievement system?
I don't mean this in x360 vs PS3 way, its just that I think Sony and the Playstation 3 is capable of creating its own way of doing things online. The PS3 is an awesome piece of hardware I just wish they were a little more original in their online approach. I know they are capable of it.

How else do you recommend they do that? Secondly, it's not the exact same thing. It's a level-based system. Instead of XBL Achievements where an achievement for something almost humanly impossible increases your overall gamerscore proportionate to an achievement that you just earn by playing and beating a game, PSN Trophies increase your overall level proportionate to their difficulties....
This helps when differentiating players who actually have skill versus ones who just have a lot of time to play games & money to buy a lot of them. It could take 10 whole games with all of their Bronze trophies to equal 1 game with all of its trophies.
Neither method is bad per se. It's just that I find Playstation's Levels more representative to players' overall skills at a quick glance versus 360's Gamerscores.

What do you mean? How is XBL's text messaging system any better than PSN?

Because you can use it from the Xbox.com website seperate from your Xbox 360 console. So I don't have to plug a keyboard into a console, or even be anywhere near my home to use it. I can be at work responding to my friends or setting up games for later. I've found it incredibly convenient to the point that even when I'm playing a game I'll still use the website to respond.

And an intuitive interface, music controlled by the player versus the game, voice messages, easy access to friend lists, party chat system, etc, etc
I agree that the PSN is getting to the point where XBL is, however it's got a long way to go. If they keep it up, I really think they might easily surpass what Microsoft has created, but with trying to get money from stuff like Home, it's putting unnecessary resources into things that aren't really enhancing the user experience.
Seriously, I would probably pay money to have some of the XBL features on PSN. It's just frustrating that it's one area that Sony seems to neglect.

now how about they patch the older PS3 games so they have trophies also.

That would require time and money sadly, but I, too, think companies should implement them into older titles. It might actually make me want to buy them or play them again. Who would've thought?

o i know it will take time and money but its a good invest i know alot of achievement whores who play shitty games just for the achievements and since Sony is copying Microsoft they might as well cash in on those trophie whores and yes they are out there

Sony is not able to add trophy-support to any game. That is up to the ones that made the game.
And since you're talking about older games, the people who made those have gotten their money a long time ago, so there's very little incentive from a business standpoint to put in time and money to add trophy-support.

i know that the dev's have to put in the trophies that's why it would be good for both the dev's and Sony they will both get money.

Nick that Music playing over the game ISNT XBL its Simply the Xbox itself.
at any rate most people dotn WANT to listen to music over all their games. but I know SOME dumb ass is going to mess up the Soundtrack for FF13 on the 360 and listen to some Judas Priest. Music is cool for online games and sports games, but RPGs dont need music played over them as they often have hot ass music already
