Do you know the exact number of Trophies you have ... off the top of your head? We know how tedious it is loading up your PS3 every time you want to remind yourself of your in-game accomplishments. Thankfully, this is now a thing of the past. Once PlayStation.com updates with its new Trophy tracking features, you'll be able to check your PSN level, Trophy count and lists for each individual game from anywhere with internet access.
The update is due to go live tomorrow. The functionality will be very basic at launch, allowing you to simply check your own Trophy stats. After a later update, you'll be able to compare your Trophies against friends' and "look at your Trophies in new and interesting ways." We're hoping the info will be made available for third-party applications and websites to access at some point in the future, too.
In the meantime, check out our gallery below to see what your Trophies will look like on PlayStation.com and visit the PlayStation Blog for a video walkthrough of the new site features.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. That being said I highly doubt the Ps3 will ever eclipse or reach Xbl in terms of its online structure.

Are you serious? Just look how far PS3 has come in a little over 2 years. Secondly, PSN is free. Could that also be an issue?

If you compare PSN 2006 to PSN 2009, there's a huge difference. Maybe the same could be said about Xbox Live, but I think you have to admit that the PSN has come a long way, especially for a service that started only relatively recently.
I do not have an Xbox 360 and I'm really satisfied with PSN, but objectively, I realize that the PSN still has a ways to come. However, you have to realize that the PSN is growing fast and could meet, if not surpass, everything Xbox Live offers in the somewhat near future. I think we will soon see an equal playing field.

So you really believe psn is going to eclipse xbl? That hilarious if you do. Sony has always been one step behind when it comes to online play it will continue to do so. You can't even do cross game invites and its been what 2+years.

I think your comment is what rubs a lot of people the wrong way. Sure you have assholes on the Xbox side putting down PSN without every trying it, but you have PS3 owners who waited a year and a half or more without trying the 360 and seeing with it had to offer before the PS3 came out. For whatever prejudice they had they didn't recognize what Microsoft brought to gaming this generation especially in Xbox Live.
There are nuances to Xbox Live that just cannot be replicated by PSN unless Sony restructured the hardware architecture of the PS3. The 360 was built from the ground up to be used in conjunction with Xbox Live, and the PS3 was built as a computer with the capabilities to adapt to firmware upgrades with little tweaks here and there. Sure the PS3 has Blue Ray but the technological aspect of the Xbox 360 being one with its network is an overlooked advantage the 360 has over the PS3 hardware wise. This aspect in itself will keep Xbox Live ahead of PSN at least until next generation when Sony engineers build the PS3 with PSN in mind.
Poor 360 still gets no love from Playstationphiles.

plus in-game music is patented by microsoft. The only way for games to have in-game music is for the developers to add it.

cross game chat is a nice bullet point feature but i don't think it's a necessity. it's not worth $50 to me either. i still think a free silver account should cover basic online play in the games you pay for.

it is progress no matter what you think about it so stop the complaints. of course complaining at something better than nothing makes a whole lot more sense right?

Now I can track those, like, 6 trophies I've earned!

I'd never use this myself . I mean it's so much easier to just hit the PS botton and click my profile and hit R1 once to get the trophy breakdown.,. and Wait for them to load up? So the site is gonna load instantly? cause I wouldnt consider the half a second it takes for them to load a long timeframe I'm sure the site would be much slower plus it takes my attention away from my TV screen(PS3)
546 for me just reached level 10 a few days ago (5 Platinums, 28 Gold, 75 Silver and 438 bronze) soon to be slightly more as I have Fallout3 & Bioshock collecting dust neither played much at all yet, Plus UT3 trophies coming thursday and i'm only half way through Killzone2 haven't had much time to play it since I got it friday

Check on Playfire.com. They have this trophy integration already. It doesnt load directly from your psn account so there is instances of people lying to get better trophy scores. But if you keep honest to yourself you have a great looking Trophy Card that keeps track of everything you have.

It took sony this long to catch on? I mean seriously the 360 was out a year before the PS3 and Sony couldn't make a decent online community?
Xbox live was the the stencil, all Sony had to do was trace. But I guess that's too easy for those arrogant bastards.

So your one of those 50 year olds trying to protect the PS3.
Dude seriously, I'm a 13 year old because I called Sony lazy? Every one here knows that with an extra year to work on the PS3 there is no excuse for Sony's online to be as lackluster as it is. Especially when you have Xbox live to draw from.

I don't think anyone who owns an ecksbawks can ever complain about Sony copying anything that happens to be on XBL. I mean apart from Gamerscores (big wow) have they ever done anything original?
i mean, come on guys what about...
Singstar
Buzz
Eyetoy
LBP - I hear M$ are doing a "game creation" game. Typical.
Not to mention Microshafts industry fairness program, ie, buy up patents (which your XBL fee pays for) for anything that might be useful to a competitor, ie in game music etc.
Microshaft is a ruthless, rule bending, corporate terrorist. Not a company I would be proud to support.

"ECKSBAWKS ECKSBAWKS ECKSBAWKS" bullshit from some brainwashed M$ cash cow.
Glad there are people out there that see through their marketing campaigns and can see the kind of company they are. By paying for anything you are essentially VOTING for that company. If M$ was in politics they would have been chucked out long ago, long before they made the first Ecksbawks.

It's true man, although saying anything like this brands you a troll. So I tend to stay away from it.
360 guys have been raving for a while saying PS3 doesn't have achievements and when it does *OMG THEY COPIED OUR S***!* Like M$ haven't done the same, albeit pussy attempts. (Lips? WTF? xD)

Hmm, maybe a lot of these were system related, so I do apologize there.
But let's just talk about XBL.
Almost every person there either has a headset, or has access to one for a few dollars. They're cheap, easy to get and have decent quality.
You can't, ever, not ever, say the same about the PS3. You have to use a bluetooth headset, and even if you find one for cheap, it seems rare that anyone has a headset. What's the point? I have a few friends that have a PS3 and none have headsets. I know that's a microcosm, but in relation - Everyone that I know in person that has a 360 has, and uses, a headset.
And sure, the XBM isn't too difficult to navigate to friends, but what can I do when I get there? With XBL, I can view their gamercard, review the games they've played, see what their gamerscore is, send them a chat, send them a message, invite them to a party, invite them to a game, etc, etc.
Oh, and I have easy access to a full list of people that I'd recently played and can either add them to a my friends, I can rate them, complain about them, invite them to a new game.
Now, for the system itself...
I can cycle through other chats that I have open, look at messages, launch a game, play music, change various system settings, all of this without actually leaving a game.
And I'm sorry, I don't care if the developers don't want me to miss out on their sountrack. Stuff it. If I want to listen to my own music, then let me. It's not impossible to do, it's not difficult, it makes no sense, after seeing what the 360 has done, to stop that from working. And most people. Please, stop generalizing. Most of the people I know like having music playing over when they're playing something online. It's great for a lot of MP games, when there's no important music. And if "most people didn't want it", why are so many crying for it and why are there so many articles about it?
As for custom soundtracks, there's far too few that allow it. Wipeout has introduced it well, but a lot of games haven't.
Oh, and have you looked at the date of the "In game music patent" articles? Do that, then come back and we'll talk :)
XBM being "faster" than the NXE is subjective. Sorry. But I don't like the layout of the XBM, even having used the PSP well before I had a 360. I don't see it as that much faster, and the layout is far less logical. And where are you getting your stats that "the majority of players prefers the XMB, because its more sleek and clean as well as intuitive. "
Uh, huh? Really?
Also - last, but not least - and please, let it be ABUNDANTLY clear I am not a 360 fanboy. My PS3 is the best hardware system I've ever owned and some fantastic games are on that system (don't get me started on the worlds worst analog sticks though, bleh. But D-Pad FTW), and it's nice that I don't have a jet-engine in my living room when playing something on the PS3..
So, that said - does anyone realize, really, that all the things Sony is implementing, Microsoft did first, and have done better. EVERYTHING that Sony is bring to the table, Trophies, Voice messages, Cross Game chat, game invites, all things originally done by MS.
And Roto13 - so I can go over to my friends on XBM... whee. What can I do once I'm there? See that they're offline? It doesn't provide the same quality, it's like there's a soul lacking in the XBM, just this vacant tumbleweedville of an interface.
