I noticed this as well, and it's really annoying sometimes when the songs I specifically want to listen to are at the bottom of the list and they get cut off and don't play while I'm playing

regarding the HDMI Port question:

I have a non-HDMI 360 which I sent in to MS to repair last year which they did successfully and for free. I too would like to get a 360 with an HDMI port so I did the following.

Sold my non-HDMI 20 gb console for $175.
Bought a New Arcade Console w/ HDMI for $170 ($5 Profit)
Purchased a 60 GB HDD from Circuit City for $65
Sold the additional stuff in that kit (3 mo. Xbox Live, Headset, Cable) for $25

I paid $35 for an HDMI upgrade + 3 years of warranty + 60 GB HDD

Can't beat that. Oh Yeah!

BTW: Circuit City no longer sells the 60GB HDD (I checked again and they were gone)

and you can get a new xbox 360 arcade from Dell w/ 20% discount+Free shipping

I would go for the red elite but too much $$$$

Actually, instead of green lights when a controller is plugged in, they will be red. That way you will never know if you are playing 3 player or just got RRoDed... Not really. It certainly won't stand out as much at least.

Cheers for answering my questions.

Regarding the transfer, MS are on the case (allegedly). I dropped them an email (purely as I'd forgotten about asking here :) ) and they sent me an automated one back. 72 hours later, no reply :(

I "could" use my old 120gig drive but the new one looks like its a different colour. In the words of "Don't be a menace in south central while drinking the juice in the hood" (phew) "Do I wear the tec9 wit da high tops or the uzi wit da low tops". Its all about co-ordination

Other than the red trim, store bought 120s have a silver tone to them, in that side casing that sticks up. This one with the bundle appears to be a solid gray. Not much difference. One reason to transfer is that the HDDs get faster the newer they are. The faster the HDD, the faster stuff loads from it, so it is possible you could see a performance enhancement with it.

The third time my xbox broke was in Ausgust '08 , I had a best buy warranty from launch day and they exchanged it straight up for a new one with HDMI, pretty sweet seeing as i'd just bought a new 1080p tv.

HEY XBOX360 I MAY BE OLD BUT I SOUND YOUNG WITHOUT ANY PROPER INTERNET SKIIIIILLLLLZZZZ BUT CAN I HAVE JOB NOW?

Sorry.

Great response, but yeah, it does come across snarky. No way it can't though, when you need to respond to that poorly written question asking about a possible writing job. I would have spent about an hour writing and re-writing that.

Thanks for a great laugh at the end of a rough day.

Down here in Raleigh, NC for work, about half an hour away from Cary. I know a guy with this company working in the 3D simulation world who knows Mark and Cliff from Epic, so I told him to tell Cliff to hurry up and release another GOW2 patch, but I don't think he will follow through. I tried gang, I tried.

I don't play MMOs and I like "The Guild". The jokes are funny and the girls are cute and it's free to watch. I don't need much more incentive, I say give it a go.

Also, in Season 2, about halfway through, there is a 360. They couldn't plug it in.

And Joystiq - The iPhone and mobile sites are not the same. On the iPhone site the entire column is linked (mobile only the text is). Also the iPhone site only has the title where the mobile site has the date/time and author.

No matter how many times I look at it, whenever I see that red special edition Xbox it makes me think of Wildfire Level 1 from the original Andromeda Strain film. I think I'll call it the Boris Leven Xbox.

Hell, for that reason alone, I want it.

Regarding the iPhone/mobile versions of the site, all the links still go to the normal web versions of the articles. That isn't very helpful.

The iPhone version of Engadget does it the right way, so I assume you're still working on it.

Richard, you turned into the Comic Book Store Guy from The Simpsons for a second with your answer to "The Guild" question.

"I have PERSONALLY never seen The Guild..."

LOL

Another story regarding HDMI...

I recently got the red ring on my non-HDMI 20GB Pro (manufactured Aug 2006) and sent it in for a free fix. MS wasn't able to fix the problem so I received a refurb unit. The refurb was the same model... non-HDMI. The weird thing is that the refurb was manufactured in May 2008. I thought by then everything was HDMI.

Sounds like you got a zombie Xbox. Microsoft has been taking old innards, repairing them, and stuffing them into new shells. Hence, the late May 2008 manufacture date. They are referred to as the Opus model.

Transferring 120GB to another 120GB drive? As the meerkat says, "simples". Plug your original 120GB into your PC using the MS transfer kit, and with the "right" software (can't remember the name of it, google it), you take a 120GB image of your current HDD, and then just put that straight onto the new 120GB drive. Of course you need 120GB of space on your PC or other storage, but it works absolutely fine.
