Sega, whose business is as much about publishing games as it is about punishing Sonic fans without mercy, has revealed in an interview with Videogamer that the future could feature more of Sonic being a Werehog. In discussing the possibility of Sonic's alter-ego emerging from his permanent residence in the clearance bin at your local Wal*Mart, Sega's Ketsui Tatano doesn't think "producing the Werehog was a mistake per se," but he does admit there "were a lot of things we could have done better if we had more time and resources." Then, he delivers this dark omen, saying that should Sega pursue a Sonic Unleashed 2, seeing the Werehog again is "a possibility."
Oh yeah? Well, we can tell you where he won't be, should that dark future come to fruition: spinning inside of our console's disc drive.

No, give up on Sonic, not SEGA.
We want more games like Valkyria Chronicles. And Skies of Arcadia II. And Shenmue III.

Meh, I'm sure that Sonic and the Black Knight is going to be just as good as The Scret Rings, meaning it's not gonna be great.

According to IGN, the game straight up sucks. 3.9 material.
I would not at all be surprised.

Why is it so hard for Sega to just make another decent Sonic game?
Anyone here could design a better game than the crap they've been shoveling out lately. So come on Sega... put me in charge. Just one game.

What I personally think would be best is back to strictly 2D versions a la 1, 2, & 3. Well they could throw in the half-tubey thing you ran down with Tails.
Just do a new 2D version, go bananas on the graphical face lift, make it look goregeous, and let people enjoy again the relative simplicity that made everyone love the franchise in the first place.

I call it a bullshit invention by SEGA to try to appeal to a market that it doesn't understand.

The Shenmue team was probably dissolved a while ago. Pretty much every SEGA team that existed pre-2004 except Sonic Team themselves has been completely eviscerated, and scrambled around.
The sad loss of Amusement Vision (of F-Zero GX fame) is the most prolific

I enjoyed the werehog (i also enjoyed treasure hunting as Knuckles and Rouge in SA2, sue me). The combat mechanics were simple, but satisfying. It was somewhat disheartening that i only got to fight Eggman in that form but once, but satisfying all the same
Though i wonder about them doing a direct Unleashed sequel. Was it really that successful? Between all 4 platforms, the number is high enough, but i bet the expenses, especially for the HD versions (big new engine and all), caught up to them

That's the thing. If they already invested in building engines for those platforms, you can be sure they'll milk that investment as hard as they can.

WOW O__o Here's where it took the hit to bring the score down so low:
3.0 Gameplay
Possibly designed by monkeys. Everything you've ever liked about Sonic games -- speed, great level designs -- is gone. Instead, you will crawl through stages and fight enemy after enemy, with waggle.
3.0 Lasting Appeal
You can beat the primary single-player mode in a few hours and then you'll unlock some extra playable characters. But there's no point in going back unless you like torturing yourself.
Good find Moptimus, I'd been hunting for a review earlier today.

Wrong reply but damn.
What the hell Sonic Team? You had it almost right with Secret rings,
Is like you shot yourselves in the face after every release.

Sonic support squad? Aren't those the guys that do those NSFW pics of Sonic and Amy or Sonic and shadow (Don't look) in Deviant art and Newgrounds?

Sega what you meant to do with that was a Golden Axe game not a Sonic game.
To be honest the werehog part was fun except for the parts you walk on pipes.Seriously don't do that sh*t again,is awful,is frustrating other than that pretty cool.
Sonic the Werehog is to DMC what Naruto Ultimate Ninja is to Tekken. Not exactly a rip-off more like a kid friendly version.
Sonic unleashed was actually good but no one will ever forget 2006.
Keep trying Sega Unleashed was close.

A brand new 2D, sprite-based, downloadable Sonic game à la Mega Man 9.
There, Sega, you can have that one for free.

Step one: Take Werehog out back with any friend debuting after Knuckles
Step two: Insert bullets
Step three: Outsource Sonic to New Super Mario Bros. team
Step four: Call Scrooge McDuck to inquire about leasing rates
