World Tour adds Queen, Hendrix and European DLC in March

Activision decided today was the opportune date to announce all of the upcoming Guitar Hero World Tour downloadable content to be released in the month of March.

Musical goodness from Queen, Jimi Hendrix and a handful of European bands will be bicycle racing to the XBLM and PSN this month, including three songs from Vanilla Sky, Rasmus and Les Rita Mitsouko that'll be available this Thursday.

A complete listing of all the upcoming World Tour DLC can be viewed after the break, but be warned that some may find the release of both Queen and Hendrix songs in one month to be too overwhelming. For those music enthusiasts, we recommend taking a seat before continuing.
The European Track Pack (Available March 5th)

It really feels like RB/GH rarely get their first choice on DLC with a given band/artist. These are some unusual choices.

When you think of a good song, or a 'classic' song, you're usually focused on one aspect of it; The vocals or the guitar usually. When picking songs for these games, they have to be well balanced among all instruments. Drums and Bass are particularly tough as most drumming and bass lines are really monotonous.

Yeah. I guess I would lean towards "name" and "familiarity" when looking for songs from older artists. As someone who throws a few Rock Band parties, its all about the recognition.

As someone who also throws Rock Band parties, I have to disagree. Name recognition we all went for at first... but slowly grew to realize that a great song to listen to doesn't mean a fun song to play for all parts... sometimes it doesn't even mean a fun song to play period.

To be honest, most of the stuff we play in RB I would never listen to outside the confines of the game... even if I enjoy the hell out of it in the game.

Ditto to AoE in regards to recognition vs. fun-to-play. I'm thinking of Eye of the Tiger. :P

I think it depends on your crowd mix. I'm always teaching new people to play and integrating first timers so familiar songs are always a hit. If you have a regular 4 person crew, you're definitely tired of hearing Maps.

Heck, one of the Queen songs is a "new" one. That's hardly exciting.

I was wondering why I never heard of that one Queen song. I love Queen but hate these guitar games so it doesn't make a difference to me.

Look up Queen playing "Who wants to live forever" live in Budapest, great performance.

Actually as a long term Queen fan I do like the new album with Paul Rodgers as well. Of course no one comes close to singing like Freddie did but they kept the Queen style and fun in the songs.

really wish they added Dont Stop Me Now. Would have been great to sing.

Also as soon as you said the name of that song it started playing in my head along with the image of the pool cue attack in Shaun of the Dead. Ahhhhhhh memories.

There's not much guitar in that song though.

...after looking at the list though... Those are not the best Queen songs ever, fortunately...

If they put out all the best music first there'd be nowhere to go but down.

Isn't the Quantum of Solace theme already available in World Tour? It's under the name, "Another Way To Die".

yeah. you would think JACK WHITE and alicia keys would make a great theme song, but it was horrible. chris cornell did a great job with the casino royale one though.

Loving the addition of Queen and Hendrix (although the song shoise could have been a little better). Liking "What have you done" as well - it'll be interesting to to see how they handle the two, rather distinct vocalists. "In the shadows" really takes me back to high school so might get that as well.

But really - Hier Kommt Alex? It's a good song and all, but enough already! It's almost like it's a must-have for music games since GHIII.

I don't think so - looks like fan art rather than being taken from an episode. Besides, Freddy Mercury is dead so unless it involved time-travel, a flashback or cloning (seems unlikelly, but the Simpsons has kinda gone that way recently) it wouldn't make sense.

Finally a good Hendrix track pack. I will have to buy GH:WT now..

Pretty sure that C-lebrity isn't a Queen song. It's a "Queen + Paul Rodgers" song and that is kinda lame. With so many good classic Queen songs why pick this one?

Because it was cheaper to license. Here, mystery solved.

They didn't seem to have a problem getting Fat Bottomed Girls and We Are the Champions. Most likely the reason was that they accepted the licensing for the other two songs if they put in this new one that is in their new album coming out this year to raise awareness and hopefully boost sales. . . Now the mystery is solved. :D

That's what I hate about the Simpsons. They've always got a spazzy smile.

Queen, though! Not the best songs, but any Queen is better than no Queen. And more Hendrix! Not bad!

Don't forget they are also fixing their past mistake and letting wii owners DL any of the 6 hendrix tracks on march 19th when the new ones come out.
