Xbox Live gold members get crowned on Xbox.com

Today, Major Nelson Twittered word that a new graphical enhancement has been added to Xbox.com and should give Live gold subscribers a serious case of the warm fuzzies. The new addition: a tiny gold crown icon (

), which is now located on Xbox.com's mini Gamercard.

It may be small, it may be useless and it may have no application to the "real world," but we're still proud of our new crown. It'll probably be the only royal jewels we'll ever own and, for the yearly $50 subscription fee, we think it's the least Microsoft could offer us.

Same. That was only because of that awesome bundle they had too.. Crimson Skies + Headset + 12 months of live card.

i also only paid for the full live price once, and that was the crimson skies bundle (which was awesome), and even that my parents bought me.

i love my new crown.

*Waits for the incoming barrage of silvers to somehow construe this as another instance of getting screwed and demand silver crowns or a refund of their 0 dollars and 0,0 cents yearly subscription*

My gamerpic is also surrounded in a gold trim. THAT makes it worth it.

Good job Microsoft, artificially creating perks for gold members and screwing over silver as much as you can.

Just awful that they're giving something to those who pay for the service. Hey, go into Costco/Sam's/BJ's and bitch about the 5% markup you pay because you're not a paying member. I'm sure they'll bend over backwards to help you out.

They should totally give us a gold crown for our avatars.

I paid $50 today. But I also got a free chat pad, headset, and copy of PGR4, in addition to the 12 month card.

I always get the gold cards either cheap or with accessories that I wanted to get anyway. Didn't really want(and haven't played) the PGR4 from the last pack I got. But the headset replaces my broken one nicely and the chatpad makes some things easier.

They know what we love. We love knowing we're gold. What used to be there, Rep? Pointless rep. I'd rather be crowned. God I love crowns. But not Dustin. He deleted me from his friends list.

I bet all those silver members are feeling pretty foolish now.....

UK £35... go figure... no seriously, go figure it out, it doesn't
work) I could have a tiny little crown next to my Gamertag.

I mostly don't get the chance to play online so it'd probably not be
worth the money at the moment, oh well, maybe they'll make a tiny
little jesters hat for us Silver losers, all we get at the moment is
an orange link saying "Get Gold Today!". They're really pushing the
whole Silver sucks thing, but "No" I say, "NO, I will not give in to
your clever marketing ploy. I'll not let myself feel hard done to
because I don't get demos when they release or cheaper DLC or a tiny
crown or the ability to play online or a golden sheen to my
gamercard... sniff"

So err yeah. I'm ok with it.

I'll be quite honest, I did get the warm fuzzies when I saw that crown yesterday.

M$ always know just what to do keep me coming back for more.

now if MvC2 became a Live exclusive...I would have to get on one knee and propose to M$ themselves.
