Indeed, I hear Eastern Europe is a big place for PC gaming vs consoles and lots of great games have come from there, such as The Witcher.

Does this mean the PC is getting Lost Planet 2 Capcom? : )

I would say the PC getting lost planet 2 is almost a guarantee at this point. I am more curious about RE5 myself.

RE5 with mouse support would be very nice. The game already looks fantastic on PS360, I'd love to see what they could do without hardware constraints.

Uh do you remember RE4 on the PC? I'd rather they don't even try than do that again.

It's a shame that Joystiq themselves can't show some more PC love. For a start, the release of Empire Total War should be the main news item on any game related site.

Joystiq only features Dreamcast and Sega Saturn news unfortunately.

honestly I would just settle for them tagging posts properly.. games that are multi-platform (including PC) rarely get tagged, so if you try to search by tag you get such a random assortment of old shit it's not even worth it.

joeybeast -

That is simply ridiculous. By your logic we should all be going to the (albeit renamed) PS Fanboy site for playstation news.

It's a complete oversight to leave out any news whatsoever related to a game that has just entered the top 10 metascore PC games and if you think differently then you're just plain wrong.

@Top Cat,

Dude, it was already covered:

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/02/now-playing-march-1-7-2009/

Joystiq almost never, ever covers the release of a retail game more than this... and when they do it tends to be for titles with epic mass appeal/mass anticipation, which are games like GTAIV and SFIV. I realize there are a lot of PC RTS fans in the world, but it's just not a big enough release for the majority of gamers to care about, and therefore it's understandable if we don't see a metareview post for it (which is the only sort of post it would receive, even if it was as big a deal as GTAIV or SFIV were). However, as joeybeast pointed out, more in-depth coverage/stories are what big download is for.

And, while I'm glad a game you're apparently quite enthusiastic for has come out and I do hope you enjoy the hell out of it... that doesn't mean it deserves to be the top story on all game sites... this is a blog, there is no top story.

Fair point and well put. I was just hoping for a metareview or something but you're right. I should just play the game and stop complaining about others not!

Instead of having 15 different online distribution networks, why don't we just keep it simple and let the reigning champ, Steam, take the lead? I know, I know, it goes against business policies - you don't give your competitors your profits. But I would really prefer consolidating all of my downloaded PC purchases onto one nice piece of software. Steam has done a commendable job of that, and was one of the first to do it.

Seriously, competition is generally good, but the market is just flooded. Steam gets the job done well enough that I'd rather see titles just wind up there. I wish they'd completely disallow additional copy protection (SecuROM) though - EA has wrapped some of their games in both Steam's DRM (which I don't mind) and SecuROM DRM (which I won't go near).

I'd actually like to see some sort of cooperation between Microsoft and Valve. I really like the whole Live thing and being able to see my Xbox Live friends and earn achievements. Both Games for Windows Live and Steam offer the same things (achievements, friends, messaging, etc), so it'd be awesome to see the two combined.

EA now only use STEAMS drm and doesn't put Securom on top of that.

Kinda makes me wonder, if the PC is so important to them, why are they going so slowly on SF4 PC. I mean, I could understand it if the arcade cabinet wasn't essentially a Windows XP machine with a really large case.

Exactly - they've basically already made the PC version. Although admittedly they only have to optimise it for one hardware config.

Yeah, but the specs of the arcade cabinet are so meager - it's a low-end couple generations old video card and Windows XP SP2. I doubt it's extremely tailored to a specific video card either - maybe one brand, but not a specific card. I bet the game is just a standard .exe file that would run fine on a normal XP system (assuming it doesn't have lockouts against that).

MS really needs to release better drivers for their 360 controller on PC.

The L and R triggers are registered as a single Z axis, which many games don't recognize or for whatever reason don't like, so the triggers end up being useless for those games.

Ahh, you do have a point. When I'm playing mame games like UMK3, the triggers acts like: -Z axis and +Z axis when I set my buttons.

No not UMK3, there's a few games that does that...I just can't think of them at the moment since I'm at work.

Luckily a lot of newer games (at least the ones with Games for Windows logos) have built-in Xbox 360 controller support that functions the same regardless of your drivers. I don't even have the controller drivers on this machine with XP, and the games still work perfectly with the controller which is quite nice.

Yeah, but that's only Games for Windows games.

There are unofficial drivers that give the controller much more functionality. There's no reason MS can't add all that into their official drivers.

xpadder is pretty handy but it still feels kinda weird using the 360 pad to send out M/KB controls.

I do however love the instant compatibility of the 360 pad with basically any game where pads are reccomended.

I wonder if they realize all that they're talking about steam already does, but even then they refuse to use steam as their primary digital distribution point, which is just plain stupid.

Besides steam has a gigantic community and most likely it will just continue growing.

Here's a solid antipiracy plan:

Don't even BOTHER with any kind of anti piracy programs. It doesn't prevent piracy-really, it's more enticing to pirates-and it doesn't piss off consumers who WOULD buy a product if they didn't want to make a point about how ridiculous it is to punish them for crimes that can't be stopped. It also cuts development costs which could be passed on to us.

Oh, and that "quality" thing. Putting out quality products helps people spend money too.
