Microsoft is looking for a new lead designer to join its internal Halo team and "help develop a new experience in the Halo universe," says a job listing at Microsoft's site. With the franchise's jump to the RTS arena, we're wondering what could be next on the horizon for those colonial marines and their enemies, the Covenant. Halo Horse Adventurez, anyone?

Can't think about MS right now without blowing a vessel. My 360 red ringed last night after nearly 3 and 1/2 years of fragging. It's like taking the pipe away from a crackhead.

Just had that happened to me. Luckily it was a fast turnaround time to get it repaired. 360 is in transit as I write from Mesquite, TX to me in lovely Milwaukee, WI.

mine did that too. all I did was set it in an open area and put a fan in front of it, then it was fine. I've also seen on youtube how people have put towels on their 360's and that worked too.

What ever happened to the Halo/Peter Jackson conjunction? Wasn't that supposed to be the new experience in gaming?

I almost feel sorry for halo Microsoft is aiming to kill the franchise.I guess we should expect halo tennis and football to arrive soon, and I bet there will be idiots who will buy those games just because it's halo. They suckered people into buying halo wars which has amazing cut scenes but then when the actual game starts you are playing with little tiny ant-like objects.

because its an RTS.... you move ant sized units...
I'm sorry its not an FPS???

How exactly is Microsoft aiming to kill the franchise? By releasing 3 amazing FPSs, then releasing an amazing (console) RTS? Seems to me like Microsoft knows exactly what they're doing with the Halo franchise.
Halo Tennis? Halo Football? I understand that's hyperbole, but give me a break. If anything we will see a Halo RPG, and that could actually work in the right hands.

CannabisPrime,
I agree with your first part, but a RPG, really? I sure hope not.
That would definitely help to kill the franchise. The story, the combat, I think would not function well at all as an RPG.
Creating a RPG from the Halo series/universe would be like making an RPG from Call of Duty 4, et al. It doesn't work.
Personally, I don't need "new" game styles with in the halo universe, I just want some more FPS with a great story to go with it. A franchise will get killed if they try to expand the game play into too many different types. A RTS from the Halo series is understandable, but a RPG I can see no way that would be good or even create a GOOD story. I could be wrong, but Bungie and Microsoft should stick to what made Halo so good; a sweet FPS with an amazing story.

@David
Honestly, I think with gameplay along the lines of Mass Effect it could/would work. Obviously it shouldn't be huge like Oblivion or Fallout 3, but I think ME's style with Halo's story would be quite entertaining. But only in the right hands.

Ok, enough jokes about Halo Horse Adventurez or some other stupid idea. It's not funny after the 500th time. Seriously now, I want to see a squad based FPS in the Halo universe with SPARTANS. How about the early days of the Spartan program? The Halo books give nothing but a slew of options for this to work in spectacular fashion.
Halo meets Rainbow Six Vegas?

My hope is that Halo 4 will have a story/Campaign on par with Halo: Combat Evolved. While still being enjoyable, they gradually became more bland.
Put the most effort into the Campaign's plot instead of worrying about Multiplayer. Halo's multiplayer is almost impossible to screw up. The formula was nailed at Halo 2.
My largest irritation is that the plot's for Halo 2 and 3 weren't very immersive as compared to Combat Evolved. I mean, for crying out loud, there is this awesome Halo universe that exists in the Halo novels and the game developers don't make references to locations, significant characters, or events.
I could go on but I need to study.

So true. In fact, all they need to do is copy the multiplayer. Not change a single parameter. I'm still hoping for the day where you'll be able to use your multiplayer armor in singleplayer, or even just random missions.

I've always said they should make a trilogy of FPS's to detail the beginnings, before Halo 1. I think that would give them plenty of room to lay out Masterchief's story and some sick graphics and gameplay on the nextbox720.

Great another over hyped piece of MS rubbish. hasent halo been flogged to death already, played it a few times and it just is'nt that good. Get a new idea and work it, instead of milking that cow.

This actually sounds cool. Halo expanding beyond FPS. But I wish they'd slow down, I have even played part 1 yet. Yeah I know I'm a loser :(

They'll eventually kill their own series I wish bungie would slow down and amp up another Halo that look's plausable, but instead their just jumping into the brawling pit and pushing out more games..

Hmmm, I'm thinking Halo themed Kart Racing? But with a touch of road rash, the second player can ride on the back of the ATV collecting weapons found on the track. Please someone make this.
